A delayed suspension for Ezekiel Elliott is hardly out of the question

Not much has been said publicly, or privately, about the Ezekiel Elliott case in the past week. Next week, plenty will be said at the formal appeal hearing. After a ruling is issued, that’s when things could get very interesting.

In recent years, players facing suspensions have repeatedly used the court system to delay the punishment, even if each of them have ended up serving the suspensions after losing in court. Elliott could indeed do the same thing if/when non-neutral neutral arbitrator Harold Henderson rubber stamps the suspension.

Regardless of which side initiates the litigation (in Tom Brady‘s case, it was the league that filed suit), Elliott can seek a preliminary injunction, barring the league from suspending him until the case ends. It’s not an easy move, but NFL players (starting with the StarCaps case driven by former Vikings defensive tackles Pat and Kevin Williams) have had success in this regard.

I really think this will go to court and rightfully so for Zeke. He has everything to lose by not going to court.

By going to court he can release the evidence to the public without any repercussion from the league. In doing so its going to open a can a worms when the public realizes that Zeke has been innocent all along and that the NFL overstepped their boundaries. It will be a long hard fight and might take many years. In the end, I think Zeke has a good chance in winning it and not getting suspended.

Injunction is what will happen. And when he goes to court I hope the following happens:

  1. Supoena Goodell and Lisa Friel so they have to testify under oath why this "investigation" took so long, why their only "witness" was the accuser, and why they ignored evidence of credible witnesses.
  2. Subpoena Tiffany Thompson too. Ask her about the text messages she sent, why she said she would ruin Zeke's career, etc.
  3. Subpoena the bouncer at the bar that saw Tiffany fighting another woman then make her testify too.
  4. Subpoena all witnesses that submitted affidavits saying that Zeke never touched her.
  5. Lastly, subpoena the guy who was with Zeke and Tiffany several days in a row before the alleged incident took place.

Sure it may get ugly but Zeke needs to fight this and clear his name.

With all the facts you noted it is disturbing that they somehow found him guilty. I'm obviously biased as a fan. However, I can't imagine thinking those facts make any person "more than likely"(The NFL standard) guilty.

No,no,no! Petey's in the X- ring on this Harris! That dude he's mentioned that hung out (or hung in ) during the alleged abuse is bullet proof on Elliot's behalf,,, that's exactly what needs to happen just like Texas- Pete laid it out!,,, WOW.

There is a text out there from her to him saying that she just got her *** beat. This is in line with the fact that there was indeed a fight between her and another woman.

Besides, if Zeke beat her, her bruises would have been much worse and she would likely have been in the ER and eventually transferred to an ICU as an inpatient. Zeke is strong as an ox and she's only 110lbs at most by the looks of her.

I highly doubt Zeke beat her - as she claims. She's a liar.

Here's a great timeline:

All of this will be on the table in court.

There has to be pictures taken prior to that fight where she has the bruises already. Which seems likely, because the fight happened at the end of the week in question.

Otherwise this case is total BS.

Agree and I am on the side of Zeke. I don't think the question is the fight with the woman but the "other" altercations prior to that night. Like I posted yesterday I just want resolution in this either way...I bought my jersey since Romo's first full year and it was Zekes. I'm team Zeke and want him to be innocent...believe me...but if it comes out he isn't I lose respect for the guy and will not wear his jersey. So yes please please please Zeke be innocent.

Sorry, but none of this will happen. An appeal to federal court is about whether the process was flawed in some way or the decision was arbitrary based on the evidence the NFL had. There won't be taking of additional testimony.

I really don't think he is clean 100% his immature mentality and the video where he did strip a girl point to that. The girl is no angel and trying to take advantage.
I just hope he learn from this and stay out of trouble. If not his career will be short.

Yep. The evidence as the fan base has it..just doesn't add up to guilt! I really don't get it based on what we know. Is there more?? What are the backgrounds of the 4 independent investigators??

the NFL has to have some "smoking gun" evidence that the public is not privy to, that's the only reasonable explanation i can come up with

Will they look at existing testimony? Because if Goodell and his goons had done that, Zeke would not be suspended for 6 games.
