Deion Sanders fires back at Tony Romo's comment about his tackling **merged**

Deion comes off as small, immature, and butt-hurt here (not surprising). It was a damn joke made in passing, completely harmless. And Romo was spot on too, for the record.

Maybe Prime should be more focused about getting his refund from the people who performed his Botox injections and hair-transplant than what Romo did in his career. Starting to look the dude from Star Trek these days smh.

I used to say there's no way Romo gets into the Hall because of his contemporaries. But if he has a legendary broadcast career like Madden, it's possible.
:p Well, technically, John Madden made the Hall as a coach and not as a broadcaster (e.g. contributor). Approximately two dozen owners, commissioners and administrators have been inducted as contributors. Sabol is an exception to the norm in the eligible category. Still, no broadcaster has made the Hall as a contributor. It is extremely doubtful Romo could accomplish the feat simply as a broadcaster, if past criteria for nomination remains unchanged.

All I know is I'll lose respect if Romo apologizes to that idiot, He made a joke about something widely known. If Crying Dion wanted to come back he could have made a joke out of it also; I have as many tackles as you do playoff wins, anything. Instead he took the female dog way out.

Romo will never hear the end of it if he apologized. He would voluntarily place himself into something akin to the 'Seattle playoff game' loop nonsense critics have continually rehashed more than a decade too long. I can see Romo making another joke in the form of an apology though... maybe see him don a skull cap and offer Sanders a Crownie on a golden platter?

That would be good!

Tony has no reason to apologize. After all the stuff I hear on those pre-game shows, a lot of it pretty far out there , I don't hear any apologies from anyone.
Exactly. Current and ex-players--even those in Hall of Fames in every major sport--have always been fair game for the media. However, Sanders (and anyone agreeing with him) has drawn a line in the sand based on an accurate observation Romo made of him--simply because he does not wear a gold jacket? Wow would be an understatement.

Deon is a fake Christian, who's only idol is himself. Shame on us for fueling his narcissism all these years.

I saw a post on Twitter where someone said "Ooh, Primetime roasted Romo!" What a thin skinned baby. He never tackled anyone. Romo said the truth and He's just a thin skinned baby. Wikipedia pretty much sums it up
Legacy[edit]
During his 14-year NFL career, Sanders was a perennial All-Pro and one of the strongest pass defenders ever. He was known for being a relatively poor tackler and he was not much of a factor in run support.

Oh poor Deion.

Someone pointed out the fact that you didn't want to tackle. He didn't say you weren't a Hall of Famer or great. Stop your whining.

Deion Sanders is trash

Romo did more for the Cowboys than Deion ever did!

Deion's been bald for 10 years, where did this funny looking hair come from?

Deion is the walking stain on the Cowboys drawers!

How odd that Deion claims the high road *of course not knowing the address* but we can go YouTube and check off the volumes of clips in which he's trashing Tones. This from the guy who coined "business decisions" when it came to tacking the likes of Dave Brown. #goprimeprep

The "Deion doesn't/can't tackle" has been a running joke for literally 20-plus years. I believe Deion has even run with it, calling it a business decision.

Don't understand why this set him off.

Some of the comments were inaccurate but fair since 'Romo was still playing'. Okay.
Agreed. It was a shot at Sanders. No sure why you assume naivety.

Announcers have made similar shots at current and ex-players for decades, and sometimes the observations were off-base. Romo's comment is an accurate observation.
Obvious to viewers who watched Sanders play actual games--and not simply highlights. Television audiences are made up of varying ages.
Unnecessary shot? Is any shot 'necessary'? Not really but shots are a part of the media broadcasting. A better question (still) is whether the observation was relevant. A very good cornerback whiffed on a tackle not that dissimilar from Sanders occasionally questionable tackling, who, of course, ended up in the Pro Football Hall of Fame as one of the best cornerbacks in league history,

David Carradine's character in Kill Bill Volume 2 summed up Sanders response aptly: "I overreacted."

I don't think he was purposely going at Deion at all.

He was trying to criticize Peters tackling while also pay him a compliment by saying he covers at a high level but doesn't tackle at a high level much like the best corner that's ever played in the NFL.

Because he hates Romo. Simple as that.
