Why is everyone so afraid of the Eagles

Give them their due respect for having the best record but if you just for a min set aside your emotions from last week loss and their record, we actually match up pretty good TALENTWISE. Make no mistake, the lost of Lee and Smith will hurt but they lost their starters at the same positions. The thing is the Eagles are now playing with a ton confidence ( similar to us last year ) and that alone with their record are intimidating a lot of teams and fans. Break them down talent for each position, with the exception of a couple positions, we are right there with them.

Funny thing is I doubt there a person outside the players believe they can take this game Sunday. Well I do ....... coz IMO the margin is a lot closer than we think.

The tendency to over-react to the most present info is why this game may appear lopsided to many. Eagles coming off a bye with a strong record, the Cowboys o-line debacle last week, the Lee injury, etc. But I have followed the NFL for far too long not to expect a hard-fought, close, divisional rivalry game.

I think we will win as well. The same ones always say we will lose that way if it happens then they can complain and moan. They are the same ones that disappear when we win

Afraid?

Or realistic?

We are a team without our best TB, possibly our LT and our WLB who if you look at the breakdowns, our defense is horrendous when he's not on the field. Further, we haven't actually played great consistently when we we've had all three on the field.

Conversely, the Eagles are 8-1, blowing out their last few opponents and clicking on both sides of the ball right now and are better equipped than most teams to counter what we want to do - they are the best run D in the NFL. Further, as noted above, without Lee our defense has been porous and we are facing an offense that has a solid OL (even without Peters) that can run and throw the ball. There are few matchups in this game that favor us.

Can we win? Sure. But it's going to take a herculean effort as well as great games from guys like Bell, Smith, etc.

Great defense? Check
Create turnovers? Check
Amazing offensive play calling? Check
Wentz on fire? Check

Their offensive play calling is amazing. Wentz can pick and choose whom he throws to and they always seem to be wide open.

Keep in kind, Green Bay, Atlanta, Dallas, Seattle are all down this year. They are the best in the NFC by a long shot

I've seen what the Cowboys look like without Lee and Smith......it's not pretty. I'm not afraid of the Eagles but I am afraid of which Cowboys team shows up this game. The Boys are missing the QB of the defense and their most dominant lineman.

Frankly, this is probably the better way to look at it. It's not that the Eagles are the greatest team of all time.

It's that they might look like the greatest team given the issues we have. It's not so much about the Eagles as it is about us and how terrible we look when Lee and Smith aren't on the field.

We are a superstar driven team missing three all pro players. The LTs that replaced Tyron Smith got abused by a guy that is a nothing special solid starter in the league.

Losing Lee won't be so bad this time since we have Hitch but the offense without Smith and Elliott is a shell of itself.

Speaking of Hitchens............ I don't know how feasible it is, but I'd rather just leave him at MLB and put Wilson or Smith at WILL. Hitchens is a better MLB than WILL and Smith sucks at MLB so I'd rather be adequate at MLB and then who knows at WILL than be crappy at MLB and who knows at WILL.

The best way to attack our LB problems is to at least lock down one of the three spots with solid play.

Then why play the game ........they are beatable. I understand the focus on the players we've lost but even without those players, we're still left with some good talent. I do believe coz their momentum and confidence, they marginal players bring their A game, every game.

Did you even read the post?

I said we can win the game. That's why people will watch. But if one is honest with themselves, the Eagles are clearly the better team and that it's going to take a pretty exceptional performance from us to win, doing a 180 from just how terrible we looked this past Sunday.

Agree 100%......I can tell you right now if we start Smith in middle Sunday, I will be one pissed fan

I'm not afraid of any team. I'm just realistic in that the Eagles are a vastly superior overall team. Especially at this current juncture.
That's not realistic. Only thing eagles have been better at this year is closing out games, example the Chargers and Giants.

Dallas on the other hand have been it with the lead or within scoring distance and failed.

GB, Rams both we were killing them but didn't finish. Atlanta we were close but after Midway through the 3rd we didn't finish.

Talent wise the eagles aren't vastly superior. They have finished games and we haven't

The Eagles have a much better defense, offensive weapons, and at this point, a much better performing oline. The last part is likely going to lead to better QB play this sunday. I won't even get into the coaching superiority.

So yes, the Eagles are a vastly superior team at this current juncture.
