Yep. Not much margin for error. Thanks for doing the legwork. Sorry it's getting stomped all over by fans who just want to give up early and enjoy the offseason.
It drives me crazy how many hypocrites here talk all kinds of trash about the players quitting, even after the loss to the Broncos, and they automatically write off the season and quit on the team.

Some people conveniently forget that the teams we're competing against for a playoff spot also have injuries and get this, get this....they also lose games due to bad coaching decisions!

The irony of posters quoting on the team by insisting players have quit on the team is something you just have to appreciate. There's a thread on the board right now asking whether to root for the Chargers or the Cowboys this week.

Think about the circumlocutions you have to go through to create that thread with a straight face and be oblivious to its implications. It's staggering.

Yes, these teams we'll be playing have worse records than ours for a reason. Let's hope it makes a big difference.

We will be out of the playoff picture within 2-3 weeks...why would anyone want us to make the playoffs at this point...the best thing that can happen is lose out, preferably losing every game as bad as philly ... that's the only way change will happen...we know Jones loves .500 teams...maybe when he sees this team heading the way of the Browns, then just maybe things will change...

Eagles and Vikings are most likely going to run away with their divisions, we need them to win every NFC game from here out. Ideally, Philly has clinched everything by week 17 and sits everyone for our game.

NO or Carolina will win the south and the other most likely locks up the 5 seed. Again, we should be rooting for both. This only changes if Carolina stumbles and becomes competition for the 6 seed.

LA is two games up on Seattle but Seattle has beaten them once. We REALLY need LA to win the division and make Seattle compete with us for the 6 seed.

So what we will likely have is Dallas, Seattle, Atlanta, Detroit and GB competing for the 6 seed. I think we can reasonably assume GB is done because they are one of the worst teams in football without Rodgers and will likely be 5-9 or 6-8 before he could return.

So Dallas/Atlanta/Seattle/Detroit. First the bad news: Atlanta owns the tiebreaker over us. The good news: They have the most difficult final 6 games in the league. They play FOUR games against teams with 7 or more wins and two are on the road. 5 of their last 6 are division games. It's tough to see them finishing better than 9-7.

Likewise Seattle has a brutal schedule and they play us in Dallas when we'll have Zeke back. We effectively control our destiny vs them assuming they lose 1 more.

Detroit will be a problem, after Minnesota and Baltimore they finish the year with 4 should be wins. It's hard to see them not getting to 10 wins.

That leaves Dallas. We have four straight games against teams with losing records, including two at home on the awkward Thursday game schedules which historically really hurt the road team. At worst, we have to go 3-1 and sit at 8-6 going into the last two games. We then get Zeke back for Seattle (a must win) and Philly.

Best case scenario: We find a way against below average teams over the next 4 weeks, beat Seattle with Zeke and Philly sits Wentz and others week 17. That locks us in unless Detroit also hits 11 wins in which case we'd have some advanced tiebreaker scenarios.

If we finish 5-1, we will need help but still a chance.

Not sure we can, but if we can find SOME way to at least get to Oakland at 8-5 we give ourselves a chance. So this week isn't a "must win", but if we lose we need to win out. 10-6 is simply a must.
No, we are playing for the best possible draft pick !

LOL. Actually some of those teams are actually winning games despite the injuries - Carolina, Minnesota, etc.

Great, two teams. I'm sure we'll win some more games as well and they will lose some.

It isn't about confidence, it's about enjoying watching your team play. I choose not to be a miserable SOB especially when we're three wins against poor teams away from 8-5 and a full bandwagon again.

Who's "miserable"?

I think a fan who still has expectations is a lot more "miserable" than one who has resigned themselves to what this team has and doesn't have. And where they're going and where they're not going.

If we don't do it then so be it, but I suspect you'll be watching Thursday just like all of the naive "happy fans" you thumb your proud nose at.

I'm a fan, of course I'll watch.

And for the record, I'm not "thumbing my nose" at you or anybody else.

Do everybody a favor and stop projecting your own feelings on someone else.

Exactly! People want to criticize fans for "quitting" as if they ignorantly think it has a shred of impact on the outcome anyway. Laughable.

And their fandom clouds their judgement as to what's actually in the best interests of the team long term, and not the head coach they they mistakenly supported.

The best thing that can happen to this team right now long term is to lose out. It's the only thing that gets this coaching staff out of here and real change to happen.

Everything else is perfume on a pig.

Who honestly thinks this team can win 6 in a row or 5 out of 6? They have nobody outside of Zeke on offense that scares anybody and he's not playing. They can't score any points

Nobody does, even the homers now have qualifiers on their claims, all while still trying to scold the rest of us. Even when they try to tell one another to "believe" they put qualifiers on it because they don't actually "believe" themselves.

It's hysterical to see.

It’s only fair that those that have jumped off the bandwagon and nearly guarantee that we miss the playoffs not post, at all, during the playoffs. If we make them:)

Stand by your convictions.

OK, and what would the same "penalty" be for those on the other side of the fence if they don't make the playoffs? No posting until the draft?

I mean, if we're being fair and "stand by your convictions".

Pretty sure not many are saying that we are——if anyone. It just seems Jerry will stick with this guy through about anything.

That doesn't mean anybody has ro resign themselves to it, or like it.

It's funny how people will call out a defeatist attitude if you're not supporting this current team and staff, but have the same defeatist attitude toward the possibility of changing head coaches.

I still feel secondary isn’t much worse. We may miss Church. The others are about even imo.

From Church to Heath is monumental. Heath is THAT bad. And not having the experience and leadership void is even bigger. We have missed Hitchens for a while, Lee. Its not even close to the same defense. Different team and different results.

I spent an hour doing the ESPN playoff predictor for playoffs doing various realistic scenarios with us finishing 10-6 and we got in all of them. We need to root against Seattle in every remaining game IMO, need St Louis to clinch the division and beat them at home with Zeke.

The entire perspective is different when you are completely blind to the fact that Garrett is the biggest problem in Dallas and he is one of the worse coaches to ever coach in the NFL. He brings NOTHING to the table. You obviously dont see the big elephant in the room. Maybe you should take note at how bad its getting around here in reference to Garrett. People are now rooting for us to flat out lose just to get clappy the clown out of town. Thats how bad Garrett is.

Yet here you sit continuing to deflect blame and pawn all this off as nothing more then a down turn.

You are on a goat trail man. Way up high, all alone.

Agreed...why can't fans quit? As far as I'm concerned this team quit on their fans the last 2 weeks...

Yes. I am completely blind to this 'fact.' I'm blind to lots of your 'facts.'
