1.) Knows this offense thru and thru.
2.) Already has a relationship with Dak, should have a good idea on how help him improve.
3.) Has a reputation as being extremely intelligent, which is obviously a good thing.
3a.) @visionary hates the move, so it has to be a good thing. :}

Moore has no experience, but under the tutelage of Linehan and Garrett, he should be able to navigate thru any growing pains.

1) All indications are that is true
2) Are we to assume he has been withholding all these wonderful ideas for the last 2 years, and now that he is QB coach, the dam will burst?
3) Maybe Stephen Hawking should be QB coach.
3a) George Costanza called dibs on Mr. Opposite

Translation: No one who's going to threaten Garrett's job.

I had that argument around here the other day. Garrett hires to protect himself from on staff competition.

Some people found that simply crazy. Managers making sure they didn't hire underlings who might be able to replace them? Who ever heard of such a thing?

I just don’t think Dak is going to be hurting for experienced QB support, overall.
Dak has *less* experienced QB coaching support, and no *new* QB coaching support, than he had in 2017 when his play regressed.

Yep. Though there's zero reason to believe his play regressed due to coaching, so I'm not sure why it matters. He's traded Wade Wilson for Kellen Moore. And then we'll see if they add a more experienced player to the QB room. He's got both Linehan and Garrett who have each played the position and been in the league as both player and coaches for a long while. There's not going to be a shortage of experienced QBs for him to turn to.

What QB coach would? What QB coach ever threatens any head coach?
Garrett
He was HC in waiting after a limited stint

Dak's regression certainly wasn't *prevented* by the 2017 crew of infinite QB wisdom.

Why would anyone think that a partial crew that couldn't prevent his regression would be able to turn him around? Why would anyone think that this is the best crew to be had? That the crew that failed, minus the most experienced QB coach and most talented player and guy who brought Dak to the team, is the best we can do?

What's it going to be then, eh?

"I don't want to get ahead of an overall announcement, but I'm glad that we're going to have Kellen with us in the future. We'll get down to the specifics about it. But we have completed an agreement with Kellen." - Jerry Jones, today in Mobile.

Get ahead of an overall announcement? They've completed an agreement, like there was competition?

What on earth is he babbling about?

You're reaching to suggest the coaching staff has 'failed' with Dak. Even last year, he had a winning record and his offense in the top ten in terms of points/possession.

It’s pretty much accepted as fact that 90% of being no an effective coach is intelligence, and has ZERO to do with athletic ability. NFL history is littered with examples of good coaches who were mediocre pro players, or in many cases, NEVER played a snap in the league (Belicek, Tomlin). There are a lot of examples of good to great layers who were awful coaches.

If Moore has what it takes between the ears, what he did on the field is irrelevant.
So is winning.

Is getting worse a coaching success?

Did Dak's accuracy seem better or worse to you this year?
How about his decision making?

He got worse. With adequate coaching, young guys should improve, not get worse.

It’s like you missed that part where he was sacked a dozen times in two games.

We know why he performed worse. And we know it wasn’t problems with his QB coach.

QB gets sacked, and QB coaches are simply helpless to do prevent any of the negative consequences.

I'm so glad we have such a brain trust of fellows incapable of helping the QB through hard times.

I get it. You don’t like the coaches, but you don’t want a change from what we’ve done previously for Dak. Because you think Dak wasn’t good enough because of the coaching he got. Makes sense.

It’s almost like you just want to ***** no matter what.

Timing is everything. Look, I understand this regime doesn't have a lot of credibility, but I as a "glass half-full" type of fan choose not get into the "Jerry sucks, "Garrett sucks", etc..., and instead look at new player acquisitions, or in this case, new coaching acquisitions, and look for how each years version of the Cowboys shapes up for the upcoming season. If I had a dollar for every time some Cowboy fan *****es and moans about this team on here...

And if I had a dollar for every time some Cowboys fan mentioned how this team was finally putting it together every year since 1996..........................

In an offseason where they are looking for credibility and a sign that they "get it" and will make necessary changes they go out and basically hire a guy who has never coached a day in his life to be the coach of arguably the single most important player for the next 3-4 years. It should not be a surprise people are questioning the move.

I suspect this offseason of "change" will culminate with them bargain bin shopping for FAs again, telling us they will fix all their problems in the draft. At that point, one should not expect any significantly different results in 2018.

I really hope I am wrong about their player personnel plan for 2018.

I highly question if you hope you're wrong. You love to read your own posts on here too much for that.
