These contracts amaze me. I understand Garoppolo looked great at the end of the season, but, the reality is he hasn't done anything significant in the NFL. When does the inflation stop? What will it look like in 25 years? 5 year 500 million dollar contracts? It's crazy to me.

The inflation stops when the Salary CAP stops going up.

That's hilarious because Jerry and company are going to do it and do it big with Dak the first chance they get. I guarantee it.

I would hope they make him establish a level of consistency before doing so.

Last season is what I would consider a cut off level in terms of performance. A steeper decline in the next couple of years, I am moving on.

When you see players like Ryan Tannehill getting fat contracts, it is a little concerning as it looks like teams are willing to do anything to convince themselves they got themselves a QB, even if it means talking themselves into it.

The situation with QBs is frankly hilarious

Look how much Cutler has made. Andy Dalton: his post season stats are HORRENDOUS. His career QB Rating is mid 80's in this pass happy league.

Tannehill: once again a mid 80's career rating. Yet these guys are getting crazy money.

It takes an incredible amount of discipline for most GMs to give up on even a middle of the road QB.

Yep .. they’ll continue to attempt to prop him up.

But I think they’ve seen enough. Dak popularity and marketability are too much for Jerry to opt out of. He’s the #1 selling jersey. Our fan base fell in love with him last year and Jerry kicked Romo to the curb early for him. Nawww... the decision has already been made.

I think its different b/c Jerry is running out of time, and he just saw philly win a super bowl. That had an impact on him. Watching Philly transition from Kelly to Pederson and all the player movement has called the "continuity" strategy into question.

Philly winning the super bowl has really the bar higher and even Stephen made reference to playing catch-up with Philly. More importantly, it may have also changed team expectations which have been too low for too long.

Dak will get his opportunity to prove last year was just an anomaly. But it wouldn't shock me if we drafted a QB for purposes of competition either.

GMs are too afraid to let go of even mediocre to decent QBs, cause they can end up with much worse talent and then get canned faster. For every Tannehill, you can end up with John Beck, Aj Feeley, washed up Trent Green, Sage Rosenfelds, Gus Frerotte, Cleo Lemon etc...
One 4-12 season, excluding Dallas, can get a GM/HC fired no matter their previous records.

That is why I love you X...... we can go back and forth without the insults

You present a good case and back it up researched arguments..... well done

I figured that when I added the line "get his money a year early" that would be enough of a clarification for those in the know

My use of 'thought" was pre and post Jimmy GQ getting his deal....... now I find it unlikely Dak gives any kind of discount

Keep up the good work and you are still wrong................... about Dez
I always respect your opinions even when I disagree.

It would be great if Dez would prove me wrong. He still has some physical ability but I think it's poor risk/reward to keep him.

I hope your right but Eagles run with Foles still falls into the get hot and make a run philosophy the Giants won a couple with.

I think expectations have always been there for Jerry while as fans we’ve lowered ours as long as he’s intent on doing it his way.

Its a little different than the 2007 Giants in that the Eagles dominated the whole season. They were never bad or struggling.

Garoppolo just signed the largest contract in the history of the NFL. How exactly does that happen? I get that he has potential but damn.

What sort of contract will Dak sign if he has a pretty good year this year, say comparable to his rookie year?

Correct me if i am wrong but Dak signed a 4 year deal as a 4th round pick, right? He would be a restricted free agent in year 5?

Like you said, Dak is under a 4 year deal, which means this next season isn't necessarily what will tell the tale on his next contract.

You act like that would help you get a Franchise QB instead of just playing Musical Chairs at QB for a decade like we did post Aikman

Your right. They were until Wentz went down .

Then most thought they’d be one and done as they were Underdogs throughout the playoffs as #1 Seed at Home.

Well, Foles really picked up his game in the playoffs. Nobody saw that coming. He was ok in the regular season but that 2 weeks off made a huge difference for him.

That’s what I’d define as getting hot with a backup QB winning in playoffs as an Underdog.

Especially when you consider they finished losing 2 out of 3 with Foles after Wentz had gone 11-1 in dominating fashion as you referred to.

I’m trying to think when a #1 Seed was ever Underdogs in both playoff games at home?
