Any team with Zeke as it's lead back has a chance.

Even a JG led team.
great players tend to make an ordinary coach look good. Look at Tom Brady and BB. Ask yourself..what was his record prior to joining NE and drafting Brady? If memory serves...it was not great. Your right.

we are not close to competing for anything come next year. am I throwing in the towel? NO. let me repeat. NO

games have to be played. teams off season additions may not always work out.

but Eagles are the champs and they get Wentz back. Minn. had a great defense added a good QB and they will get Darwin back. Rams are loading up and have added some nice pieces and they had some nice young pieces already. assuming those three are class of the division.,

so that leaves Cowboys, GB, Carolina, Seattle, Falcons, NO as the group to fight for 3 spots. which basically leaves us fighting for twoof the final spots. right now we are behind all of those teams. yes we get Zeke back and that will make a lot of difference. but its an uphill battle.

again, not throwing in the towel. just based on the off season. yes, draft to come but everyone always claims draft made them better and my draftee is better than yours.
I think you are way off. Wentz is unknown right now. Not only that but they lost some more pieces. Add in that the NFC East hasn't had a repeat champ in a very long time I see eagles taken a step back. Teams always look to knock off the reigning Champs and that makes it much harder to repeat.

With all the suspensions and distractions we had last year we went 9-7 and had a chance going into the 2nd to last game of the season.

We have upgraded at receiver.
The young guys Dak, Zeke, Awuzie, Lewis, Switzer, La'el, Irving, Lawrence, Jaylon, Woods, Brown, Taco and Gregory should all improve.
Position coaches have been upgraded as well.
FB has been upgraded.
Swing tackle is upgraded and so is the depth on the OL. Just need a LG now.

Sure we could struggle but I'm willing to bet we will be in the hunt. Minnesota is very good but look what Philly did to them. Not only that but Cousins can't beat Dak or Dallas.

Don't panic, we still have some holes on the team but we will be a better team next year. Just enjoy it

What were people predicting for the Rams, Vikings, and Eagles around this time last year?

Everybody's 0-0. The Cowboys could be really good or really bad. So yes, let's at least wait until the draft before we make assumptions.

In your 2nd paragraph, if the latter happens there better be some changes taken place as soon as that final horn sounds.

Hard to tell. It all hinges on Dak bouncing back. If our D is left out to dry then we stand no chance.

Why can't we compete next year? Not counting the last game we still won 8 games, should have won 2-3 more. Biggest loss in free agency was hitch. We already have more depth along the OL and WR positions and still have 10 picks to go. All indications are we should field a better team. Dont forget we have some new coaches too, hopefully that should help as well.

When i look at the teams ahead of us in NFC I see teams with a much better defense and or QB.

The Cowboys only strength is our running game. I’m not sure why that provides us with any confidence to overtake them?
I would assume one of those teams is Minnesota...... Cousins hasn't beaten Dallas. Dak is his daddy right now.

Philly...... Division game, Wentz isn't healthy and is an unknown right now not only that but they have lost some players from last season.

Saints..... Will be tough to beat but not clearly in front of Dallas. Brees isn't a spring chicken anymore.

Rams..... Some are starting to say they are the favorites. The question will be have all these big name signings and trades work out? Might take time for chemistry.

Seattle...... No way. They are rebuilding

Arizona..... Don't be silly

San Fran.... Will be improved but I don't see them that improved over Dallas.

Carolina.... Could be tough but Cam seems to not come up clutch when needed.

Atlanta....I take Dallas over them with both fully healthy and available.

GB.... Rodgers does his thing but another team not clearly ahead of Dallas.

Detroit...nope

Chicago.... Not there yet but on the rise

Tampa Bay... Nope don't see them either

Washington..... How many straight times have we beat them. Smith isn't going to do better then Cousins. We beat Alex Smith when he had the better team.... Compared to Washington.... last season.

Giants..... They are exploding right now. Players fighting with front office and vice versa.

Saints, Rams, Vikings and Eagles will be the teams to watch. The others aren't better then Dallas.

Why wouldn’t you place Atlanta , Seattle and Green Bay ahead of Dallas who all beat us?

I’d place us somewhere after that assuming Dak develops and we add more talent on defense . If not we could slip further back.

Your certainly entitled to your view but until proven we aren’t better than those teams. It’s why we play the games.

?. As of right now, The Cowboys haven't completed adding players to their roster. They haven't drafted a player yet. They haven't completed TC yet. No one has battled for positions yet. No one has been named a starter yet. The season hasn't started yet according to my calendar.
With that in mind I'd say it's quite premature to say,
"As of right now we are not close to competing for anything come next year." IMO, because it's still Offseason.

We haven't had a game changing Defense in years so expect the same from them come next season therefore it will all basically come down to No 4 performance!

Look for us to compete for a Top 5 pick next season......:banghead:...drafting of course a QB with our no 1 selection.....

The one thing I do know for a fact is that we will be at a coaching disadvantage every game.

And we better have a two or three touchdown lead at halftime because the other team will make adjustments and we will just stand on the sideline like,

raw

We will be picking around 13-15ish. No way is dallas a bottom 5 team even with this rough schedule.

My expectations for the Cowboys are nothing extraordinary. I'll sit on my recliner in the living room and enjoy seeing them compete, win or lose. I would encourage those of you who hold a grudge for them not meeting your lofty expectations to cool it and temper your expectations to accommodate reality. You'll appreciate your fandom infinitely more upon doing so and won't regret it. Try it -- you'll like it! ;)
There was a time when it used to be SB or bust around here for years.

You're not allowed to throw in the towel then say you're not throwing in the towel.
