It was, but I sat through half of it while needing to pee, because I didn't wanna miss a second of it.

Why post the comparison? Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the all-time domestic box office champion at $936.6 million. It is still very early but AIW is tracking really well with it. There may be a new domestic box office champ after all the dust has settled.
My concern is that the core audience of the Marvel movies will not sustain the same type of frenzy that the core audience of the Star Wars movies did. The cores are essential for feeding repetitive box office.
I think comic book nerds will keep the Marvel movies going strong, as long as the product quality remains consistent.
Oh. They are here to stay and will represent strongly at the box office. I am selfishly hoping one or more Marvel movies will one day climb up the all-time lists and dethrone some box office heavyweights like Star Wars:The Force Awakens (domestic all-time champ) and Avatar (worldwide all-time champ).
I couldn't agree more. I hope Avatar gets dethroned by Avengers: Infinity War. Especially after James Cameron said, "I’m hoping we’ll start getting ‘Avenger’ fatigue here pretty soon." This criticism is coming from the same guy currently filming four Avatar sequels, which was overrated when it came out a decade ago, and producing another Terminator, which hasn't been good at all for decades.
I refuse to watch Titanic, because I hate that they made a love story out of one of the worst tragedies in American history, and because I dislike DiCaprio, but mostly because I never want to hear any Celine Dion song in it's entirety.Cameron can be a royal butthole but I cut him a lot of slack concerning his Avatar and Terminator films. I make an exception for Titanic though. It is one of two highly popular movies that I have never watched completely, with the other one being E.T. Every time I sit down to watch either one I quickly lose interest. Cameron's other films like The Abyss and Aliens keep me glued from start to finish but I could not care less what happens to Leonardo Dicapro (sp?) and Kate Winslet.
In my opinion, Cameron made the fatigue comment due to jealousy and fear. Both Avatar and Titanic sit atop the all-time worldwide box office list with over <expletive> five billion dollar combined take. That kind of accomplishment could give anyone a Galactus sized ego trip. I think that is his real problem, namely that one of these increasingly popular Marvel movies will eventually steal some of his spotlight from the peak of Hollywood success. That would be sad if true. I have long predicted that Avatar 2 will eclipse $3.25 billion even though I have no clue whatsoever about the story, acting, directing, etc.
A three billion dollar movie would be freaking crazy but Cameron could pull it off.
