I am boycotting NFL for three games this season

A real boycott would be refusing to purchase any NFL garb or any products that sponsor the NFL.

A real boycott would mean refusing to watch any NFL games in order to further plummet ratings.

But even these steps would be too little to make a change. Too many NFL sheeple out there make your individual voice irrelevant.

The NFL will die a slow, natural death. I can’t imagine the NFL existing in its current state by 2050. It may succumb to public indifference and damaging legal battles far sooner than that.
That would get their attention, they make most of their money off tv contracts.
But unless your a Neilsen family participant, it wont have any effect, because they wont know
your not watching!!

All TV ratings are estimates, not real stats lol.
They monitor about 50,000 household and then use % of that to estimate how many people MAY be
watching.
The ratings can be very inaccurate, but the advertisers think they are real, so do most people.

So just to be clear lol your TV isn't magically monitored, turn it on or off change channels, and
no one knows what your watching , unless your part of Neilsen.

What it does start affecting is in-stadium and local broadcasting advertising rates if decreased attendance persists. In the Ravens case, the club even tried to help those fans in reselling their tickets thru Ticketmaster than thru other resellers, since the Ravens get a cut from Ticketmasters, to offset some of those attendance losses. Initially, it may seem just like a drop in the bucket, but even those drops get their attention.

Cowboys as all NFL teams used Ticketmaster. But this year Cowboys broke off from Ticketmaster as their main place. I forget the name of the new place.
I am sure individuals can still use Ticketmaster if they have the hard tickets. But electronic wise the Cowboys are using something different.

4 years ago they even stopped allowing you to download PDF copies. This was to prevent you from trying to use stub hub and such places. They were trying to go to electronic ticketing or hard tickets. Even then they change when you got the hard tickets. Trying to force people not to sell tickets until after a certain date. I hated the way they were trying to control all of it.

I sold my seat PSL's right before the 2016 season. And I have no regrets. Matter of fact I am more happy than ever that I was able to sell them for a break even price. I was paying almost $10K for seats and parking a year. I had extremely good seats.

yes...he apologized and negotiated his suspension to 3 games.
An apology is in order. Thanks to @Sydla , I looked up the Winston's NFL.com story, which stated:

The NFL "concluded that Winston violated the personal conduct policy by touching the driver in an inappropriate and sexual manner without her consent and that disciplinary action was necessary and appropriate." As part of of his discipline, Winston is required to obtain a clinical evaluation and fully cooperate in any recommended program of therapeutic intervention.

"A failure either to obtain the evaluation or to cooperate with treatment will result in further discipline," the league said in a statement. "In addition, a future violation of the personal conduct policy will result in more substantial discipline, including a potential ban from the NFL."

Seemingly, Winston agreed through negotiation to the evaluation and program recommendations, which reduced the standard six-game suspension to three games. Per the policy:

With regard to violations of the Personal Conduct Policy that involve: (i) criminal assault or battery (felony); (ii) domestic violence, dating violence, child abuse and other forms of family violence; or (iii) sexual assault involving physical force or committed against someone incapable of giving consent, a first offense will subject the offender to a baseline suspension without pay of six games, with consideration given to any aggravating or mitigating factors.

The league considered the groping as a sexual assault. My bad.
But it appears that sexual assault should have carried 6 games too. I never knew that.
You amended your original reply with this observation after my reply. Good catch. I did not think the league weighed his groping as a sexual assault, which the personal conduct policy specifies as a mandatory six-game suspension.

that is a very simplistic view

those Neilsen households represent the entire cross-section of America so they would have the same % of boycotters

and I wouldn't be surprised if today's boxes don't send info about viewing habits and DVR choices......especially streaming devices

If someone wants to boycott it can a huge impact........the advertisements won't be seen and the sponsors won't see increased sales and they will bail on the next contract........ ads work but only if they are seen

The policy says it is a baseline suspension of 6 games, but also specifies consideration would be given for aggravating or mitigating factors. Mitigating factors can reduce the penalty. The policy does not state it is a mandatory 6 game suspension.

'Baseline' is essentially 'mandatory' in my opinion but tomato tomoto.

I am boycotting NFL for three games this season. I let the NFL office know as well and I encourage others to do the same...let your $s speak. Zeke gets a 6 game suspension, in a case that was thrown out of court, police closed the case, she retracted her story and NFLs own investigator said, they shouldnt' suspend.

then Winston does the same, lies, then admits to it, and gets a 3 game suspension, although NFLs own POLICY says, minimum 6 games.

what gives? of course we know that was Goodell getting even with Jerry for challenging him.....

so for three weekends, they don't get me to watch their commercials...

so NFL will probably say, ***.... so I wrote their advertisers as well. Budweiser, etc.

will it amount to anything? maybe, maybe not...but NFL depends on me the fan, and when me the fan is unhappy, NFL will know....they are not the king of the hill, they exists, because I exist.
You will rock the NFL to its foundation!

with the exception of Mohandas ghandi, violent protests get people's attention quicker than any other form of protest. not encouraging, mind you, only pointing out historical facts.

She retracted her story? This is news to me and the rest of the world. I don't think she has ever retracted it. There is still questions about his guilt or innocence but nothing conclusive.

Groping a stranger is not considered the same as hitting one's girlfriend or wife, evidently. I have not yet seen the female take on this. Ladies, is groping half as bad as hitting?

Please let me know which 3 games you will be boycotting as I will make plans to do something else since they will not be televised.

I wouldn't compare the situation with Zeke to Winston since Zeke doesn't have a history like Winston, who is a pos that got away with rape, thanks to FSU.

The biggest problem I have is that Goodell never gave Elliott the opportunity to negotiate like he gave Winston

Based on the testimony of the witness if he had offered EE 3 games he probably would have compromised

bahahaha seriously man! Which 3 ya gonna boycott? I'd boycott 3 Browns games if I was gonna make a statement. The statement would be... I don't like brownies

I appreciate your boycotting efforts but the reason Winston wasn’t suspended 6 games is quite clear. He didn’t commit Domestic Violence of the Personal Conduct Policy which mandates the 6 games. If the Uber driver had been his girlfriend or wife then it would have gone down differently.

Or if there was some physical harm.

Or if there was some physical harm.
But physical harm isn’t mandated like DV.

Yea, the suspension could have been more if there was serious physical harm but the difference remains it wasn’t mandated like with DV.

I too thought the 6 games was heavy, but in the end, if Zeke stops acting like a high school sophomore and starts acting like a grown man, then maybe he and the team can benefit.
same can be said for Winston...he is even a bigger man child and has a long history
