None, except for Barry. After 5 years they decline? After year SEVEN, Barry had 2000+ career carries. What’d he do after that? 985 carries for 5097 yards. 5.17 ypc, BETTER than his career average. Even in his final season at age 30 he had 4.3 ypc, which was still better than Emmitt’s entire Cowboys career. Not even including Arizona.
Hey genius he was 29 in his final sesson. Had Sanders played in 1999, he would've been 30/31 years old.
Lets bring out Egals RB's stats shall we? NOT:lmao2:

By your logic the Cowboys shouldn't have resigned Emmitt. DeMarco was almost literally run into the ground and the FO determined that he didn't have the talent to warrant extending him unless on the cheap. Will Zeke get another contract here, too soon to tell, but he can't be judged with DeMarco as the standard. Zeke has more talent and ability and we have yet to see his full potential. You don't spend the #4 overall pick with the pre-determined decision to let him walk after their rookie contract, unless he's a bust. It would be a wasted pick if he's still producing and let him go.

Running back value is gone after 5-6 years. After that backs are just shells who can’t deliver. There are exceptions but that’s only about 1 in 5. It’s foolishness to give a player an extension based on 20% odds, hope and a prayer.

I don’t remember all the contractual extensions with Emmitt...but yes...they held on much too long. All of us got too attached.

Teams have become much more wary about drafting backs high in the draft given the short shelf life. In recent years they’ve learned their lesson.

The exceptions are guys who are multi-purpose. Guys who are good in pass protection, good runners, non-fumblers and give you something special in passing game. 5-years high level production in all these phases can indeed make it worth investing a top five pick.

In his final game at thirty, Emmitt still had 1,400 carries yet to be touched, making any speculation as to how prolific Barry could have been moot.

Their careers cant be compared. Have your YPC Eagles fan.
Trouty, he's baiting you. Don't give this guy the time of day. He's bored, thus he hangs on Cowboys boards and trolls.

Hmmm Zeke is good in pass protection, non-fumbler, great runner and is special in the passing game, when we decide to throw to him and invested a top 5 pick in him, but yet you're deciding now, after his 2nd year, that we shouldn't re-sign him? You don't waste a top 5 pick with the idea of getting rid of them after their rookie contract, if you do, you made the wrong pick and need to re-think your draft strategy. We keep him if he's still producing with the terms dependent on production and health. You judge each player and situation individually, not because of some generalized stats.

The average career for a RB in the NFL is 3 years, maybe we should have not resigned Emmitt in 1993, the stats say his career should have been over.

Most of us know that running backs don’t age well. Six years of premium productivity is usually the best you can expect.

The one guy we think of as an exception is Emmitt. Damn, the guy played 15 seasons!

Out of curiosity I wanted to work up some numbers. How did Emmitt do after his first six years in comparison to the earlier part of his career?

1990-1995...4.5 yards per carry...First 6 seasons
1996-2004...3.9 yards per carry...Next 9 seasons

Hmmm....

If you want to compare Emmitt to the concept of giving Zeke a 2nd contract, then:

Zeke
Rookie Contract: 4 years plus 5th year team option.
2nd Contract: 4 or 5 years

That's 10 years max for his first two contracts.

Emmitt Stats (yards/carry)
First 5 years: 4.4
First 11 years: 4.3

It is a great example of how even very simple stats can be summarized in a way that is very misleading even when unintentional.

Most people when they retire, a side effect of that is that they do quit. Not sure what the point is.
I know I've flat out 'quit' since retiring,,,, and I'd just recently had a $25 per hour day gig offer up in Portland for the summer or as long as I wanted it,,,but a couple jugs of Jim Beam dulled the thrill of coming out of retirement to lay down pavement in the sea-hags A.O.,,,o_O

@Trouty

Barry Sanders, Born July 16th, 1968. Final Season in 1998.

98-68=30 First game doesn't start before July.

Looks like my facts were right after all!

Wait... if lack of fact-checking is a big no-no, what does that make you?

I’ve been saying six seasons and out.

I know enough right now to say the Cowboys shouldn’t and won’t re-sign Zeke. The data is overwhelming with running backs.

Zeke and his agent will be looking for a 4, 5 maybe 6 year contract. Somebody might be stupid enough to give it to him. Many fans here will be in uproar. Zeke might be good in 6th year but no way he’ll justify a longterm contract.

He will likely have earned his draft selection.

Your numbers aren’t right and I don’t follow your argument. I’m old and slow....please clarify.

"My account had 4 likes", WOW. Still crying like the little big shot you thought you were on the other site. I see your making enemies with the wrong members yet once again. Do yourself a favor and check the top 4 members with the most likes. Lol, Trouty along with @dallasdave don't have all those likes because they're hated.

Unfortunate for you, they're all good friends, you don't have a chance on this site to toss your arrogance around because you won't get away with it. I do give you credit for always posting what you wish were true with your so called "facts" instead of what really is true. People know you & your silly posts.

Save your time replying to me, now that I found out your trying to flex your midget muscles on this site as well, read my signature!

P.S, watch how many more likes @Trouty will receive vs you in the Greatest Running Back Ever Thread. It'll be more, than your four.:muttley:

He got sniffed out real quick... He can take his “4 likes” and go play on a busy street for all I care. Eagle scum

It’s not stupid, it’s just over your head apparently.
LOL yeah right. You flat out said Emmitt should have quit to preserve some of his stats. That is about as terrible of argument as it gets. Continue Trolling.
