Unfortunately they wont get him for "an honest offer" if he hits the open market.

I don't think ET is going to the highest bidder as long the cowboys offer is in the same ballpark. He grew up a cowboy fan and wants to play in Dallas. Remember, he came looking for Garret after the game last year and made his pitch.

I wanted ET a few months ago for a 2nd rounder but he's been sitting out all of training camp now. Is he in game shape and how long would it take to get some chemistry with the rest of the defense?

Not sure I want him anymore for that price.

According to NFL’s Ian Rappaport, the Seahawks are seeking a 2nd rounder “and change” (whatever that means) for Earl Thomas and the Cowboys are offering a 3rd rounder.

The good news is that this means that conversations are still happening. This isn’t that far apart. You have to think that this deal is going to get done.

From the article:

Unfortunately for all parties -- Thomas, the Seahawks and the Cowboys -- this standoff is going nowhere fast.

That doesn't sound like anything is happening. It sounds like ET showed up in Seattle this week so NFLN repeated what has been the position for months.

Cowboys should stick to their guns and only offer a third. If they don't bite, then just get him in off-season for nothing when he becomes a free agent.

Earl seems to be prepared to miss games. By the 3rd game (vs Cowboys) the Hawks will be ready to make a deal and send ET back to his Texas home. He may even fly back with his new team, who knows?

I would bet by now the Seahawks know he’s resolved, so things are unlikely to change after week 3.

Ive been on the fence about this for a while. Thomas has had shoulder surgery and a broken tibia. He was drafted when he was 20 and been around a while. Im not giving up a 2nd round pick AND a 40 or 50 million dollar 4 year contract for a guy who is damaged goods and been in the league 9 years. His better days are behind him and he didnt have any better of a year last year than Byron Jones did at S.

He was 21 when he was drafted and been in the league
SInce year 2000 (the misses):

- Dwayne Goodrich
- Quincy Carter
- Tony Dixon
- Al Johnson
- Jacob Rogers
- Kevin Burnett
- Anthony Fasano
- Martelius Bennett
- Bruce Carter
- Gavin Escobar
- Randy Gregory (still TBD)

That’s 10 (possibly 11) picks that amounted ultimately to zilch with the franchise in the past 19 drafts. That’s a nearly 60% miss rate with the jury still out on several of the dudes u mention. So yeah...I’d say we suck with respect to hitting consistently on 2nd rd picks, the recent string (jury’s still out) notwithstanding.

To answer your question...

Burnett, Carter and Bennett were hardly misses. You don't get penalized if elsewhere. In fact, Anthony Fasano had a 12 year career.

People still keep doubting me on this one for whatever reason but E.T. will phone home.

Seems like Stephen Jones is unbending on this one. I don't see it happening. I would give up a 2nd and "change" in a heartbeat for Thomas. If McCaffery burns the D like Gurley did last year where he made Heath (who's solid) look like a deer on ice, then I shudder to think what will happen with our current safeties behind Heath.

The reason he hasn't signed in Seattle is what, money? Won't be any different in Dallas.

I assume the Cowboys had some idea of the money Thomas would want before looking at the trade, but even so, there is a limit to what they will give up in order to take on that kind of contract. It seems many who say Dallas should just do the deal look at either the money or the draft pick, or if they look at both they still treat them separately. But they aren’t separate because they would both be elements of the same deal, and it’s the combination of the two factors that kept the deal from happening.

He's racked over a million dollars in fines and is set to miss a $500,000 game check, but you think he's going to give Dallas a home town discount in his last chance for a big contract?

That seems rather optimistic.

Talking about for us. The cowboys and that WE missed with them. But if training them for the streets is your idea of a hit, then well...smh.
