I'm curious, what talent are you talking about? Are you talking about the QB that will go #1 for who we had no chance at getting NO MATTER WHAT? There are no WR's in the upcoming draft that will be even close to Amari Cooper in talent. A Safety maybe? Why would you spend a high #1 on a safety unless he was the second coming of Ed Reed for sure? To me this team failed at Addressing the WR, TE. and Safety positions in the offseason. The Oline was solid until Frederick went down. That was not their fault. Had Fredbeard not went down and they picked up a valid replacement for Dez, we'd be in the drivers seat of this division.

Personally I give the front office props for getting Cooper and making some of the changes they made at the Bye. I would've gotten rid of Linnehan AND Garrett but I am extreme.. Sue me..
This upcoming draft is shaping up to be one of the greatest as far as defensive talents are concerned. I get that we need more help on the offensive side of the ball, but IMO the whole point is to get better overall. The Cooper trade would have made more sense if we were a piece or two from competing with the big boys. We are not. Like I mentioned, Cooper helps us on paper, but does little for the long term outlook of this franchise. all it did was extend Garrett's tenure in a sport where coaching actually matters.

If we didn't make the trade and ended say 4-12, sure we could've gotten a marquee QB, but with Cooper, we're 3-0. We are not on track to be drafting a day-one starter... and Dak continues to impress and improve.
2-1. Or did you black out the Tennessee game as well?

Damn you hated him so much you were willing to go to war three weeks ago. The only thing you ever talked about were his drops. Now you like him, now thats youve actually seen him play, when you hadnt before.

Improvement!

You’re takin out your rear. Go figure.

I’m getting more comfortable with it since I don’t think it will be a top 10 pick anymore. That was what I was dreading, because I was comparing what I would rather have- a 4 year cheap top 10 talent or cooper. If the pick ends up being 15 or lower than I’m not going to lose sleep over it.

Not really. If the team still fails after adding Cooper I am pretty sure management WILL NOT be happy. I wouldn't be. I think of the cooper addition a little different. I look at it as a referendum and mandate on the current staff. They'd better win, they have no more excuses. There is NO WAY the front office would've gone Defense with the #1 pick in 2019 given the failures of the offense this season. You are kidding yourself. You might be thinking logically but unfortunately pretty illlogical people own the Cowboys. You know I'm right....

I'm against trading 1st round picks for WR's in principle, so no, still not happy w/ trade. Yes, he makes us better, but does he make us a contender?

And the elephant in the room: If we are unable to extend him, it was a horrible trade unless we win the super bowl while he's here.

Dumb move using a 1st to bring in Dez 2.0.

He’s being used the same and his production will be close to the same.

You only give up a first for a player if he puts you over the top. I like Cooper, but I'm not seeing that.

If I understand it correctly we are paying Cooper literally chump change this year. He's damn near free this year if you figure in the rule of 53.

Next year he is due about $14 million which is 3 million less per year average than "Dez The Parasite" got from us for the final 3 years he played for us. Chew on that one. He is a bargain compared to Dez and a MUCH better player with NONE of the baggage.

Can't wait for Version 2 of this poll when it is draft time and we don't have a #1 pick. I can't wait until Version 3 of this poll when he doesn't re-sign here and people realize we rented him for a year and a half.

This is not totally objective. He does have almost triple the picks too compared to Dak's rookie year in total... He's a gunslinger. I love the kid but it's all relative. Not saying I'd rather have Dak at all. Just saying you are not being totally fair.

I'm being someone that watches football and has eyes. Dak on his best day could not make half the throws Mahomes can make.
