Weaknesses
  • Inconsistency mars almost every aspect of his game, especially mechanically
  • Rocks back with a slight hitch in his delivery when putting zip on the ball
  • Can wind up with longer release when going down the field
  • Tendency to release the ball a tad early, resulting in a sailing or fluttering pass
  • Needs to vary the pace of the ball to match the situation/route (no bullets on screens)
  • Location and accuracy are generally poor, makes receivers adjust to off-target balls and minimizes yards after catch
  • Makes very poor decisions at times, forces passes into coverage
  • Footwork can get sloppy, will fall off his base throwing to his left, loses accuracy/velocity
  • Doesn’t possess the heralded “power arm” that he was once rumored to have
  • Deep ball accuracy is lacking, touch passing needs a compass
  • Does not throw with anticipation, poor timing leads to late throws to all areas of the field
  • Can be confused and fooled by more intricate coverage schemes (ex. Alabama’s pattern reading)
  • Lacks accuracy and velocity when throwing on the move
  • Not a great athlete, heavy-footed and lacking lateral quickness and explosiveness as a runner

See any improvement since his scouting report out of college?

I just watched it and he threw two out comebacks to Cooper from the opposite hash. He has plenty of arm strength.

And the one he sailed...he didn't get to step into. Arm is fine.
What's an "out comeback"? Lol.

I picked bus driver, and then I picked no SB mainly because I believe Jed will never replace Garrett and Garrett ain't getting near a Super Bowl.

Unless we're playing scrub offenses every single game we won't win a super bowl with him. Look at where Tebow is at, not sure any group defended him as much as Dak.

I know you guys are tired of hearing this, but here it is. Dak went toe to toe with Aaron Rodgers and that packers D in 2016...we nearly won if not for a miraculous throw on the sidelines...and a blown coverage. Dak has enough to get it done.

What is the pulse of Cowboys faithful regarding Dak?

Bus driver plain and simple that could poss bus drive us to a superbowl. If our defense becomes elite fredbeard comes back and Zeke stays healthy in a year or two who knows that's his ceiling basically Flaco. His floor is a quality backup.

At least you are giving him Flacco status. I was thinking more Baltimore Superbowl with Trent Dilfer. Needs an elite Defense and an elite RB.

Yes.

Addressing your bolded:
  • Inconsistency is not an issue. His 95 qb rating since he has been in the league says he is very consistent.
  • He has almost a 65% completion percentage this year and it has been on the upward trend. He is a career 65.1% completion percentage. His accuracy issues are overblown and incorrect.
  • Literally almost never forces balls into coverage. Hence is extremely low interception rate.
  • Footwork is still sloppy no doubt. This is where when he is inaccurate, it is when this occurs almost always.
  • He has plenty of Arm...arm is not the issue.
  • Deep ball accuracy could still use improvement but it is on par with other qbs in the league without having the weapons to exploit the deep ball.
  • Throws late at times but does throw with anticipation as at times as well. It is improving.
  • Almost never see him confused by a coverage. He is generally reading the defense accurately. Never see him make throws into coverage that he didn't know was there.
Now addressing the unbolded:
  • Still throws off the back foot but is effective in doing it surprisingly.
  • Yes, he can windup but he also at times goes to a compact motion which i really like. I wish he would just use that motion..
  • Don't see a lot of fluttering passes from Dak, do see sailing on occasion and that is usually when he doesn't step through.
  • I don't see him throwing buletts on screens, they are usually pretty good and appropriately paced. I see an issue where he has to use touch spontaneously. Usually is it ugly.
  • His accuracy and velocity on the move is excellent.
  • While not Vick or Newton, he is a good athlete who also has the body to do things a lot of qbs can't.

Dak didn't suddenly forget how to be a starting NFL QB. Give him a chance. He has shown much promise in 2 and a half years in the league. He seems to be finding his niche again. Losing Dez and Witten slowed his growth, but with the addition of Cooper and the emergence of Gallup, he's starting to improve. The team may be jelling. Despite highschool offensive coaching by GARRETT.

Please don't compare Goff with Dak. Goff is 10x a better passer than Dak.

I hate that comparison myself. Goff went from rookie year to a much better passer of the football the next year. That says a lot about his talent. It wasn’t just the coaching change as many here would like to believe. Dak did not take the next step he took a step backwards and it hasn’t gotten much better. Goff continues to grow as a passer Monday night is a prime example of that. If people really believe Dak is that caliber of a player, they must not have followed his college career. He’s not that player at all and never will be. He’s a limited player.

I WAS so wrong about Goff being a bust. I couldn't have been more wrong. Jeff Fisher must have truly sucked ***. Your right, Goff is an elite passer. But don't discount Dak and his ability to rally the troops. The kid is a hardcore leader.

Add elite OL to that list as well. That's a lot of elites needed to get a SB. If its going to happen it better happen quick we are not going to be able to pay everybody !
