Just a couple years ago Carr was one of the up and coming QB until he had no team around him. Looks like they still want him.

Jimmy G only came into a 1-10 team to win 5 straight and he definitely looked like the future. He missed most of this season with injury.

Cousins is a bust this year for what they paid but they were in it until the final week. I can see the Vikings coming back next year.

Do we really need to discuss Rodgers and Big Ben. They have proved their value over time.

We could have easily picked some of the top paid QB’s who are in playoffs arguing how important they are.

The Vikings must be sick. Went to an NFC championship game last year. Then sign a super high priced FA QB. That is supposed to lead them where they want to go. Then don’t make the playoffs.

I recognize they were in it until the last week. But the Vikings not making the playoffs is a MASSIVE failure considering the circumstances. Just massive.

Yep

But they shouldn’t have been in championship game without the Miracle. I thought Saints were better team. And Bears unexpected surge this year cost them .

They’ll be back. Prob get a new OC. I wouldn’t totally write that situation off just yet but your point is definitely made.

3 of those QB’s have been to a SB, 2 were just signed this year to FA big deal and the other two are proven QB’s.

The list of QB’s in the playoffs is more impressive.
Brady, Brees, Rivers, Goff, Mahommes, Luck and few more up and coming young stars who are the difference in their teams new fortune.

If you don’t have a QB, your looking for one.

I’m not sure what the intent or narration is here picking a few QB who didn’t make the playoffs? Does this mean Dak is a greater QB than they are?
Dak is not top tear! He has a defense, running back, a decent OL, two good receivers, and some up and coming receivers. Dak still makes throws that go high or not accurate. He holds on to the ball to long that causes turn overs (although the Giants win was an exception).
Dak will face a defense in the wild card game that will test his ability to be a good QB and lead the team to a win!

What's wrong with another one? A person is free to avoid them if they don't want any part of them.
They fill up the main page knocking other threads off. And many other threads turn into bashing or defending him.

Pinning a thread or placing it in Drama Zone controls it. At least merge them. Just my 2 cents.

If he does we’ll gain much more confidence in him.

Dak’s standard passing game is under 200 yards and when he does break it, it’s pretty much padded stats against prevent.
Dak's average passing yards per game this season is almost 250 and a 67.8% completion percentage.
For the type of offense we run that's not bad at all. This season he's had this year is almost a carbon copy statwise of his rookie year except a few more INTS and more yardage this year.

Admit you're just a troll who loathes Dak because his last name isn't Romo.

Says the QB prices are too high, and it is not wise to give out huge contracts. And more evidence that it is a team game.
Yep. The position is being overvalued. That's why the Saints could have a string of 7-9 seasons.

Best team I ever saw had Jim McMahon as its QB. In recent years, I've seen super bowl trophies held by an over the hill vet with no arm and a career backup. Cam Newton led a 15-1 team. If anything, rule changes geared toward making the job easier should devalue talent at that position, but you often hear people say the opposite.

Dak made $725K in salary this year including workout bonus. And he led to 10 wins and the NFC east division title. Interesting stat on many otherhighly paid franchise QBs- Seven of the NFL’s highest paid QBs did not make the playoffs. These guys combined for 40 wins.

Aaron Rodgers: $33.5M
Matt Ryan: $30M
Kirk Cousins: $28M
Jimmy Garoppolo: $27.5M
Matthew Stafford: $27M
Derek Carr: $25M
Ben Roethlisberger $23M

Obviously Jimmy G missed most of the season but those top 3- Rodgers, Ryan and Cousins combined cost their teams a whopping $91 million this year and they did not even make the playoffs.

Hmmmm......
Dak will get a market value contract. There will be no home discount or bus driver/game manager adjustment.
This is the NFL. Dak's agent is a business entity too.
Even if Dak get's $25-$30...it will be a bargain in annual cap space rise for 2-3 seasons. If we are winning Championships Dak's contract will be his pocket money

JJ best game with his 104 QB rating in an absolute blowout that didn’t go didn’t go down to the wire was against the same Giants team that supposedly attests to Dak’s greatness? Dak is 1-4 against winning teams this year..

Dak’s standard passing game is under 200 yards and when he does break it, it’s pretty much padded stats against prevent.

And JJ didn’t have a training camp to practice with the first team nor did he see live NFL action for seven years.

You keep posting this absolute lie. Off the top of my head Dak is 2-0 against the Eagles this year.

Stop posting you idiot.

Part of the thinking behind this thread was the idea that the Cowboys have a rapidly closing financial window that they need to take advantage of. Whatever contract Dak gets in the near future, because the current market for QBs is $20-30 mil a season, the rest of the guys we may want to sign diminishes.

For example- what are going to do about resigning Byron Jones, D-Law, Zeke, Amari Cooper, in the next year or two? Can’t keep everyone if you sign a QB to big market deal.

So, this year or maybe next, will probably be a closing window with all the current top talent we have. To balance this, if we continue to draft well, the young cheaper talent has to step up into those roles.

we have a lot of cap room the next 2 years , can sign who we want really. Have many on rookie deals. The o-line is paid. I think our window is the next 3 years after Dak gets paid.

Individual players don't make the playoffs. Teams do.

Tom Brady $15M plus incentives for $20M and Nick Foles $4M salary and incentives for $9M. If Wentz is $6.6M DAL needs to go the Brady way, acceptable Salary plus performance bonuses. 10 years and $150M

Jerry is going to pay Dak $28M AAV.
I think whats going to happen is Jerry is gonna sit down with Dak and his agent and say
Look we like you Dak and to show that we have surrounded you with the best talent money can buy. Now you need to realize your mediocre stats wouldnt even be mediocre without everything we have given you. Dak we see your value as 15 mil a year! Daks agent will balk and Jerry will say Stephen pick up the phone and give Brandon Weeden a call!

Another fan-boy with his feelings hurt? How about no, I don’t stop posting and you keep getting your feelings hurt?

The Eagles were 4-5 and 6-7 when we beat them and ever since they switched to Foles they are a totally different team.

So what’s the lie?

This is exactly why most people dont want to see Dak get a big contract. It would be easier to replace Dak than to replace a core of good players that have turned this defense into a solid team.
If signing Dak to a big contract means Dallas has to let Lawrence, Gregory, Jaylon Smith walk I say forget it! Dallas could bring in Nick Mullins!
