Seems like the indefinite suspension isn't what we fans think it is. According to the NFL and guys like Rapport, the suspension is on but he can return for all or part of the 2019 season if he adheres to the added rules the NFL are imposing. Strange yet not surprising when it comes to the NFL. Wonder if this is a Goodell thing so when he does literally nothing about Kraft, then Jerry won't come out and blast him.

The irony is Marijuana would be an ideal candidate drug to help combat CTE. Every player should be encouraged to use it. The neuroprotective properties have been known for 20+ years.

That would not be "PC"
plus beer is the drug of the nfl and beer industry wants weed the way it is .

I don't think the term PC means what you think it means.

Weed doesn't affect beer in anyway. Beer affects beer. The real challenge to the NFL beer sponsors are the 1000s of craft brewers making superior products.

Little good science on that. Evidence us suggestive at best.

They've actually mapped the mechanism as to how it works. Not sure where you heard the evidence is suggestive... the molecular biology is clear.

So disappointing after seeing what he could do next year.

Taco and Dorance will need to step it up next year

I have my concerns with Taco but sometimes it takes a little longer for some of these guys.

No. That's not true. There has not been enough large scale investigation of the effects to be considered good science. I'm certainly not saying it isn't promising. But it is under researched due to its status in many nations.

I don't think he failed a test for weed. He has been clean for almost 3 years. If he failed for weed then i don't think the NFL would say he has a chance to comeback this season. Possibly he missed the test or something like that. Until i see he failed the test for weed i won't believe it.

It could be so many different things. All it says is he violated the rules of his comeback. That could be a lot more than just failing a test.

And ANOTHER offseason where someone gets suspended for something stupid. When was the last time we got through an offseason with no suspensions? Sheesh!

I don’t disagree, but the NFL is far from the only business that does drug testing.

Oh I know. Most if not all jobs drug test you at hiring. But that's usually where it stops. Random drug testing during employment rarely happens unless you drive a company vehicle, operate dangerous machinery, or something similar. Playing football should not qualify.

Tell that to the thousands of medical cannabis users who have clearly benefited from the plant. The NFL needs to drop it. Players want a natural alternative to opioids.

Of course but he can try to make up a BS excuse with a missed test. You know play the role of victim of circumstances.

I don't care anymore. His missed test is no different than a failed test. He has been in the NFL abuse program long enough to know it. He knows he will be test a lot more often because he is in the program and knows missed test are not an excuse. My own feeling cut him and stop depending on him because he will continue to let this team down and Cowboys can't afford to do this any longer

Granted most businesses don't continue random testing except for people operating machinery or driving vehicles, although some do. I think the distinction with the NFL is it that it can't just choose not to test players. The NFL has to test for other drugs most businesses don't care about - the performance enhancing kind - and in doing that it naturally finds that players are using other illegal drugs. It would look bad if the NFL were to know of illegal activity and turn a blind eye, especially if players start having trouble with the law over drug related offenses, or commit crimes under the influence of drugs.

I get randomly tested but I do have a choice, I can submit to the test or I can find another job. Of course my job does not pay near as much as Gregory gets but my job is important to me and allows me to provide a good life for my family. Before working here I smoked weed daily but when push came to shove what is important in my life it was easy to put it down. To me this is not about agreeing with the rule or disagreeing with it, it is about making a choice given the reality you face. It is what it is and it is not going to change just for Gregory, NFL Owners and NFLPA agreed to these terms and either Gregory will abide by the rules or he will not play it is that simple

Is there a resident NFL official inside the Cowboys organization to report all these things EVERY year?

Seems it is automatic now that every year we start the season with some suspensions

At the end of the season, I was gonna open a thread to guess who is gonna be suspended this year

RKG strategy is not fully implemented here

It's mostly just the same 2 guys - Irving and Gregory. But other teams aren't immune from suspensions. 32 players have been suspended in the past year alone

A quick search on pubmed with “cannabis” resulted in 20,000 publications.

That’s a hefty catalog of literature and evidence, and signals a consensus in the scientific community that it has beneficial properties.
