At least some of the gossip is getting a little interesting...but I have to go on the track record of Stephen Jones.

We are negotiating for Zeke Elliotts and Cooper's contracts right now...

Would be the ideal CoP scatback to complement Zeke. Anything 5th rounder or less, is a yes for me.

Zeke - Bell cow

Rod Smith - Backup bell cow - barring injury to Zeke, he gets 4-5 total snaps including 2-3 carries per game

Duke Johnson - gets majority of 3rd and 4+ type snaps plus some help at slot receiver/motion outside receiver. Basically a rich man's Lance Dunbar in the DeMarco Murray era.

Honestly with all 3 in the line up Smith doesn't deserve snaps unless it's to close out games or injury.

Not alone in my opinion. I WANT Duke Johnson. Big big fan of his. Just don’t see him being utilized right.

Exactly: "WE" dont see him being utilized properly. "We"... Lets give our new OC a chance. GO COWBOYS!!! Exciting times we are in, fellow Cowboys fans...

The offense is in dire need of someone to boost their scoring clout. Duke Johnson has what it takes to do just that. If we traded Lewis for Duke, we'd likely need to find a replacement for Lewis. There's always a catch to doing what it takes to get ahead. Would finding a replacement for Lewis would be easier than finding another RB to offer what Johnson could? I'll venture to say that's an intriguing question for sure. :)

I like Duke Johnson as a player.

But no way in hell, would we utilize him right here.

Pass on trading for him for that reason alone

Exactly. This is all great until we pay him 5 mil a year and bring him in, only to find out that Zeke is not willing to give up touches on Third Down. All you have to do is ask yourself, what great player would be? Then take it a step further and ask, who is going to put their foot down and tell Zeke that he is going to have to live with it and deal with that idea. Is that going to be Garrett or will it have to be Jerry, who is going to do that? I don't see it. He will another expensive guy we never use. JMO

Rather just draft another back. Even though I do like Duke.

We drafted Zeke to do it all. He is/was an elite athlete. Run him into the dirt.

Johnson is nowhere near Zeke as a player, if you're trading for him to replace Zeke if Zeke gets injured, you're not going to get anything approaching Zeke's production.

The money you would pay him is better used elsewhere, such as getting a backup OT or a good run-stuffing DT...

This. I wanted to draft Duke Johnson and would be all about trading for him. Seriously underrated talent.

There's just no way I trust this staff to be creative enough to use him.

This is about getting a compliment not a replacement.

Can't do that, because they need him to be productive until he's 30.

Duke's more explosive in the passing game, anyway.
