I've got a feeling Irving might be in the news before too long for peddling drugs. That was admittedly his former "profession," after all.

Well he is happy now, I know we have a hard time relating to a chance to make the big money, but I see his point.
He may look back years later and say man was I dumb ! or he may do well who knows.

today from LAX to DFW. Flew out to watch the Spence vs Mikey fight. David is a social butterfly. Literally talked to him the entire flight. I wanted to pick his brain. Here are some of the things we discussed:

*David Irving says he sold drugs as a teen and it continued while in college and made a lot of money.

* he mentioned multiple times that he’s going to the “after parties” after the fight. but didn’t seem to care about the fight itself.

* he’d spend the offseasons in Mexico (Monterrey)because apparently the NFL cannot drug test you if you’re out of the country.

*He hates football and never liked playing it but his parents would make him because he was great at it. His dad was a marine and coached him hard. But David said multiple times he hated playing football.

* he’s been addicted to Xanax multiple times and weed helped him get off.

* he said he’s been depressed for 2 years and since quitting football he’s the happiest he’s ever been.

* he owns 5 cars but doesn’t own a house. He said he has to sell off some of his cars.

* He said Jerry Jones always showed him love and really tried to help him out. Didn’t like Garrett and said he’s like a Boy Scout leader.

* as soon as we landed he called his ride and asked him if he had “his blunts”. I am not joking.

In closing he’s such a bright guy. Very intellectual, intelligent. I told him the 2016 game@ GB was one of the greatest games I’ve ever seen a DL play. He appreciated it reiterated that he didn’t really like playing it at all. I ended telling him that I do respect you for walking away from something if you don’t love it, do what makes you happy.

Just thought I’d share.
Didn’t like Garrett and said he’s like a Boy Scout leader......... lol there it is didnt inspire irving to keep playing, in fact told him to quit.
and that he wasnt getting any merit badges playing for him. Plus never going to get past div round.

u know, its still stupid, you don't own a home? After playing how many seasons? You got to sell cars? Sometimes you got to Dinkins you don't like or want to do in life to make ends meet. I've never worked but one job that I actually really liked, but I've worked a ton because if I don't I'm going to starve. There aren't many jobs you can work for the or four years and if ur wise with ur money , I don't ever have to work again. Great he's nice, he may have good IQ, but he's not very wise. :)

No hard feelings for the guy. He's acted like he didn't really want to play football for years.

You should have asked him how long it took him to achieve such a high level of stupidity.

I don't mind if the player steps away cause he doesn't love the game. His choice. That makes more sense than him proclaiming that he was retiring cause of the NFL's stance on Mary Jane. Something that was long enforced prior to him signing his first deal, which he happened to take offense to after he failed multiple drug tests.

I just hope the FO didn't think he was a long term answer and pass over guys like Maurice Hurst cause of him.

Glad we cut him loose. He may think he is bigger than they game, he is not. No one will know the name 5 or 6 years down the line he will be faint memory. A guy who had talent but instead felt getting stoned was a bigger priority? What a loser

It's not about his intelligence, it's about his ability to provide as a father and being a role model in that child's life.
You don't play in the NFL or any sport for that matter. yet, somehow someway you were able to provide for your family especially your kids.

As the son of an EMT/Firefighter who responded to all of the dismemberment, evisceration and death wrought by alcohol or any other intoxicant, you're not gonna find me supporting alcohol consumption either. Just because one substance is a bad mix with the operation of a massive piece of machinery, doesn't mean we should add another.
Now that makes sense and to tell you the truth I don't disagree with your logic. However, we were speaking about a dude's choice to quit his job so he can get high. I have no issue with that either. He can find a place to do it legally and that's where we are today as a society.

Who said someone was drinking alcohol for wounds?

Strange response. Guess that means you're admitting you were wrong?
You do know those are two different types of alcohol?
I have had many ailments in my life from gangrene to diverticulitis. Not once was I prescribed alcohol as a treatment.

Personally I don't think weed is a big deal what I do find as a big deal is when a substance starts to control you. You can have prescription medication that can become addictive which is a real problem across the nation. To watch a person with great talent flush it down the drain because getting high means more to him just seems a waste of talent. But it is his life he can do what he chooses.

Were you able to get your head above the smoke or were you in a purple haze and hallucinating. Some other dude on here posted he met JG, I think you're both doing LSD and hallucinating

He didn't retire from football, he quit. He didn't play long enough to qualify for a pension. He will eventually burn every bridge and just be a bum on the street.

awfully presumptive and judgmental. smh
