There have been less than avg QB’s win but I think it’s getting harder with today’s passing game. I don’t think you have to have a elite QB but if you don’t you need a complete team and good defense
And sometimes it just comes down to matchups

And injuries, seems that the teams that are fortunate enough to keep key players healthy are the ones that end up at the top, or near the top, of the final results.

And just think what would have happened with Wilson if Carroll had run Beastmode instead of calling the pass in the last Seahawks' SB, and won the game? Wilson's done well anyway, but then he'd have been a two-time SB winner, might have gotten him another $1-2 mil a year!

What's funny is that you somehow think that diminishes what he has accomplished in his career.

He made a bad pass. It doesn't take away from the fact he's an elite NFL QB and a better QB than Dak.

Did he make the play call or did Carroll? If memory serves it was Carroll who made the call, but that's not saying much:p

Again, people have to stop with this logic that it's OK to pay him Top 3 money now because in a few years it won't be Top 3. That's how you end up with bad contracts.

But if he does become "elite" or near it, then the contract is a bargain, not a bad contract. It's a risk, but sometimes it works out...

what are you smoking RW deep ball is twice as accurate and smooth, he throws many more TDs, and his TD to INT ratio is top 10 all time , QB rating top 5 Alltime.. RW has proved himself twice over now.. yes he grew into it but Dak isnt anywhere in RW league right now..hes just better passer..sure game is similar as is their physical makeup etc but RW is now elite, Dak has long way to go..

Awe, upset now because I'm not suckin Wilson's jock. Dak finished his 3rd year, Wilson is what 30? Wilson has the experience, I never denied that. Chill. Dak is still improving, he & Gallup will get the deep ball thing worked out. That's his only problem.

What’s funny is how you made all of that up.

My post didn’t say that nor mention DP. Yours did. I just stated what happened.

Assumptions...

Of course what Dak says he wants, or is said to want, may not be reality.

Seems the figure that everyone is focusing on is $30 mil per year average, below that "he's worth it" and above that "he's not worth it".

And there is a myriad of ways to do contracts, front loaded, back loaded, amount of signing bonus, amount of incentives, etc.

I do think the Cowboys have gotten better with cap in recent years, hopefully they can get a deal done that's team friendly and Dak friendly, would love to get this matter "put to bed" before camp stars, one way or another...

LOL.

What was your point then in a thread that talks about Wilson and Prescott where you point out that people "forget" that Wilson threw a pick in the SB that cost them a win?

Lay it out for me.

Wilson had a better first three years than Dak. QB rating and QBR were both higher over the three year period.

So the fact Wilson is now 30 doesn't really matter when trying to compare the two. Wilson was a better QB over his first three years than Dak.

You seemed to be making the argument that Wilson is really only better because he is experienced but even when he was "inexperienced" like Dak, he was a better QB.

Dak just became more expensive to sign. Get his deal done, FO!

That’s the part people just ignore. I was kinda joking (sigh...just realized how that sounds) when I said this gave us the frame work for a deal, it shouldn’t. Dak shouldn’t approach Wilson money, but it is going to have an effect.

Even knowing why I know now, it was still the smart thing to tag Lawrence, and imo, he earned his long term deal, but it did cost us a lot. He would have been cheaper last year, just like Dak will be cheaper in 2019 than he will in 2020.
