McGovern has position flexibility and provides insurance in the event Frederick can’t come back or isn’t the same player.
Pretty simple. Martin eventually moves to LT, Smith to RT, Collins is toast.
Theres a hole at RT in 2019?If your starting C from last season was leaving or was a disaster, it would be different.
McGovern's insurance, but it's mainly about RT.
No panic here.
Collins is gone after this season.
Dak was sacked 1 fewer time (56) last year than his first two years combined (57). The OL was not good and needed to be addressed in some form. From all accounts he is heavy enough and strong enough to play as a rookie at guard, which we definitely need help at. How other players get shuffled around on the OL we can worry about later.Who said beard was lying? This pick makes no sense for the 2019 season
Williams arms are too short to play tackle at this level imoHence, we need a good swing tackle for security so enter Williams.
Apparently yes.OK.
Did you need to use your third round pick on a backup OL?
For me, not really. Our OL needs flexibility. He can play multiple roles across the line which is good. This alarming I think they know something about fredbeard and his condition that isn't good
'he could start on PUP,we have to be ready for that.
Agreed the line sucked. We have the most money invested in the o line in the entire NFL. We need to allocate resources elsewhere and figure it out on the o lineDak was sacked 1 fewer time (56) last year than his first two years combined (57). So we made a pick for 2020 and watch this guy on the inactive list for 17 weeksFor me, not really. Our OL needs flexibility. He can play multiple roles across the line which is good.
Just as important, they might move Connor to RT and plug McGovern in at LG.
Why? Collins is looking for a big paycheck next year. I don't think Dallas feels they have to pay him to keep an effective OL. Remember, Connor was a LT at Texas. RT shouldn't be a problem for him.
Why would you move an all pro best at the posiiton in the NFL to his weaker position, don't see Martin as a left tackle...
Yeah this worries me. Was hearing good things about Frederick being on track.
Yeah, I just don't know how to parse this McGovern pick. Are they pessimistic about Frederick's recovery from his illness? Are they going to move Conner Williams to RT? Are they going to trade La'El? Do they not have any faith in Williams?
I'm watching film of him right now and 5 minutes in, he looks like your standard power guard. I can see how he is worth a mid round pick, but damn, I thought our OL was set at all five spots for at least the next two seasons.
