Spread won’t work at this level.

See Kelly, Chip.

The Patriots have been stealing plays from the college spread since like 2007 or something lmao. They specifically started lifting plays from Chip Kelly in the mid 2000s.

You can't JUST run the Air Raid or whatever in the NFL like Chip tried to, but good NFL teams take parts of it and add it to their scheme.

I am still missing your point.

Are you saying we should stick with our current offensive schemes because we are more familiar with them? Or are you just trying to set expectations for fans that they should expect the offense to struggle early?
The latter of those 2. I think the scheme is going to change somewhat. It almost always occurs with an new OC. Why change coordinators if the scheme isn't going to change? Hope I made that a little clearer. Sorry about that.

Now I am confused. lol

Garrett and Moore are switching to the spread?

Not a fan of Prescott running the ball more, I get that he can but it also exposes him to more hits and a greater chance of injury. Everyone thought that RGIII was going to be unstoppable and that lasted what? a season and a half?

RG3 was a deer, Dak is a bulldozer. His signature play in college was the QB power.

Bah god, we're really bout to run a modern NFL offense. Kellen Moore is officially the next Sean McVay, idc.
no he is not. Moore hasn't earned anything yet. he is a first year play caller. one year of QB coaching experience. long way to go. McVay earned a few stripes and was an OC for a year under gruden before he got his head coaching job.

I am/was so sick of seeing that on every drive.

And whenever Noah Brown checks into the game, you KNOW it's a run.

Or when the wide receiver goes into motion and stops right next to the TE. Defense yells RRUUNNNN!

Got to say I'm encouraged by the arrival of our nuances for our offense such as the spread.

Anything to overcome our offense's handicaps of predictability might possibly be a blessing.

I would only hope beyond all reservations that Garrett would empower Moore to be himself.

OH JEESH. This will be interesting if true. Not sure if I would go this route considering our personnel. That's not how the oline is built. They are a powerful mauling oline...not smaller olineman that pull. Connor Williams may be the only guy that would do well in this scheme. Like the idea , but not sure we have the right players for it.

Hyatt is supposed to be an expert at pulling and trapping, from what I’ve read. Maybe there’s something to that plan to move Conner Williams to RT. Could they be stockpiling OL with different skill sets to have the ability to switch styles on the fly?

“Having a spread offense forces the defense to show more of their hand pre-snap. Instead of having a condensed box where things get muddled together, the roles of the defenders will be more clear for Prescott.

Also, Prescott will probably run the ball more from these spread out formations. Then after one drive where it is very pass-heavy, the Cowboys can come out and run the ball.”

Force smaller defenders on the field. Take them out of the box so their dline has to win against our oline straight up instead of with numbers from LB blitzes.

Again, spread has been around since the cowboys 90 offenses. It was called run and shoot back in the day. It's nothing new. Also see Rams greatest show on turf.

Like Hyatt in this scheme, agree. He will push Fleming for a spot. I'm adopting a pet cat named Larry Allen Jr...for obvious reasons lol.. Wouldn't it be great to have him make the team and actually have a role?

Get the defense to bite on what they think they see and then shift out of that once they are committed. It's an advantage that offenses rarely take advantage of. The ball can be thrown to a certain spot on the field faster than defenses can move to that certain spot. The trick is to make that place unsuspecting. In order to do this, we have to have ball carriers that can throw a ball and a QB that can catch. RBs that can run good routes and WRs that can run several routes from the same position off the line. That TD pass that Witten threw to Dez is a good example. Being unpredictable is a weapon. Having several plays from the same formation is an art form when there are no tells before the ball is snapped. Giving the QB audibles after the snap is a good idea too. Let him read how the defense is responding so he can act accordingly for the best results. This is something that I believe Kellen Moore is all for when Zeke talks about him listening to what the players are telling him what they see on the field. The trick is making this kind of game plan look polished because if it's not polished it can look very bad.

man do garrett/jerry have a love affair with former qb scrubs coaching the cowboys lol

ok seriously. I hope this works out but a man with 1 year left on his contract making a lot of rookie moves tells me either JG gives up after this year to spend time with family or JG is moving up the dallas cowboys food chain.

We need to make Prescott our primary ball carrier this year. Zeke can be our Lance Dunbar.

Stop the Bull****

I do wish we could cuss on here without the dreaded *'s.
In my humble opinion, if it's allowed after 9pm on network television,
it should be allowed in print in this forum.

Oh well, carry on.... lol.
