I would have too, but it looks like he had no interest himself, wanted to stay in the NFC South.
I’d have paid him $13MM for one year.

Exactly.
Note that the ones defending the situation where also ones who justified the lack of interest on the Cowboys part because McCoy would cost too much, likely signing a big multi-year deal.
Now the bar has been moved.
Cowboys missed a great opportunity to give themselves a dominant DL. Once again, cheapness and “liking our guys” rears it’s ugly head.
It’s why they are always a couple steps away from being a legit power in this league.
They are banking the entire 2019 season on a rookie solving their interior pass rush problems.
The Cowboys are taking the approach of having a lot of guys on prove it deals who have something to play for including their head coach. I can’t be mad at the approach. They clearly aren’t interested in anyone because they have the cap space to sign all these guys.Meanwhile, we sit on our hands with $20 million in cap space and a role player costing us a total of $10 million this year...

Just curious to those who watch him play what did y’all see in McCoy? Every Buccs game I watch I don’t even notice him on the field and most times he’s not even in the game for whatever reason. Is it just the name?
For the record I would have tried to sign him, but he wasn't coming to Dallas for that rate. He was offered more money by Cleveland and Baltimore and passed. A case of legitimately wanting to stay in a specific region of the country (and I'm sure playing TB twice didn't hurt).Meanwhile, we sit on our hands with $20 million in cap space and a role player costing us a total of $10 million this year...

I don't know the particulars, but I edited my post to include a tweet from Rapoport.Honest question..... where is it reported he took less money?

That's not how I read it. He had no choice to stay with TB at that rate so how is that taking less money?I don't see where that says that Cleveland or Baltimore "offered more money"?
It says he "took less money" than what he was due to make in Tampa Bay which was $13 million. It says nothing about what Cleveland or Baltimore offered.

And how do you know that they just sat on their hands? Maybe they spoke with the guy and he had no interest in coming here. Maybe he preferred to stay in the division and try to stick it to his old team 2x this season.Meanwhile, we sit on our hands with $20 million in cap space and a role player costing us a total of $10 million this year...

I know it hurts you to see the Cowboys criticized, but honestly, who cares what "30 other teams" do? I don't know about you, but I'm not visiting "30 other teams" fan sites.
I care about what this one does, and I think they screwed this up and missed a clear opportunity. While they continue to grossly overpay a role player.
Two bad moves that I sorely disagree with.
