If Dak demands Wentz money, does Jerry cave and surrunder the future? Does Dak walk?

Dak ain't walking nowhere who the heck wants him as there starter?Feel free to name which teams would have Dak starting in Sept? I'm waiting.......
Just say "NO" Jerry and save our team from Cap Hell.
2020 is a great year for QB in the Draft......

Who are the Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders (I'd easily take Dak over Derek Carr), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Dak is a massive upgrade over Jameis Winston), LA Chargers (Philip Rivers is probably sooner to retirement than some think, and Dak would be a good replacement for them), Cincinnati Bengals (He'd be an upgrade over Dalton significantly), and New Orleans Saints (Brees will probably be retiring either next season or the year after, so they may be inclined to sign Dak to take over) for £300 please?

These are just a few teams to name a few that I think would like to have Dak. And the logic is in parentheses for why I listed them. My sense is that the Saints would probably be his best landing spot if Jerry takes your advice with Brees probably retiring soon. I suspect that he would make us seriously regret not signing him to an extension.

Weird thread title. Let's see...

1. It is extremely likely (probably 99.999999999% likely) Wentz and Prescott had/have similar contract monetary goals. The Eagles allowed Foles to exit. Philadelphia paid Wentz. Some folks' minds were blown while others had already said and understood Wentz would get paid. A better, more inquisitive 'if' would have been "If Dak damands more money than Wentz..."

2. "Does Jerry cave?" Jones has backed Prescott 100% since November 2016. Perhaps earlier than then. The only way Jones retains Prescott is to pay him. Again, Jones wants Prescott as his quarterback. Do some people not comprehend Jones is the only person on Earth who signs checks for this franchise? Why does this caving question persist?

3. "Surrender the future?" Surrender the present? Possibly. Surrender the future? Will 2019 be the pivotal year in the 1993 to present era when the salary cap flatlines? Strange reasoning. Not as strange as

4. "Does Dak walk?" Who will allow Prescott to walk? Who? Jerry Jones?????????????????????????

The only way to guarantee you can draft the qb you really want is to hold the first pick. So saying trade dak and draft your dream isn't the soundest advice.

How is a big contract surrendering the future? That tired *** narrative of a big contract kills the future is old and tired.
The Ravens haven't done a thing since Flacco took all the money, and Brady does just the opposite, by taking a lesser salary and saying, get me players, the results speak volumes imo

Wentz got his $28 mil . . . here's hoping Dak doesn't go over $29 or $30 mil.

Please, no more! Wishing I had Aladdin's Lamp around to rub right now! ;)

It's easy to take less when your wife is worth $400 million.
Be that as it may, Jordan had the same philosophy, and the Bulls surrounded him with that championship supporting cast, and they both have 6 rings to show for it

When guys say that they want to be the highest paid player in the league, that's when I question their passion for winning

Yes, but here is the risk that we'd have. Given the talent on this team and barring injuries, I think Dak is poised to have his best season yet. He's already won the division 2 out of his first 3 seasons. He's won a playoff game. If I'm right about the season that I think he'll have, he will be demanding quite a bit more than what Wentz got. Also, not since the Eagles in 2004 have we had a team who won this division back to back seasons. If Dak does that, it will be an extraordinary achievement. Again, something that I think will factor into his contract negotiations. So, if Jerry is confident about the team this year as I am, then I reckon if might be worth heading off those negotiations early. Might actually save him some money if the team is what I think it will be.
I gotta' agree with you fur ball,,,as the #4 definitely knows what he's about in his current profession & although ,he's set an almost unimaginable bar in his quest to be the all time greatest Cowboys Q.B.ever& while knowing that lofty Laurel of crowning achievement will entail the Herculean efforts of progressive& rapid marked improvement in all things Dak the Quarterback ( I think it's reasonable to believe from a durability standpoint alone, to pencil in a remaining 7 maybe 8 years in which he can compile those provable bona fides ,so there's a couple contracts in that time frame to make more money than he could ever spend in one non- flamboyant lifetime)

he does have goals of admirable merits, no denying that:starspin:

take the comp pick, use the salary cap saved to draft another QB? Seems smart if Dak doesn't come in at a reasonable contract...perhaps more guaranteed money would seal the deal, but less overall money so he can get back to the table sooner.

I do not underestimate the Eagles' FO with impeccable timing with this. The more they can up the ante on what the Cowboys have to pay Prescott, the better for them because they feel they have the better QB and Prescott thinks he's better. That was not the sole purpose but definitely an ancillary benefit.

What could backfire in their faces is if he really is an injury prone QB. If Wentz was completely healthy, I take him over Prescott without a second thought. However, because of that health issue, I take the less talented but much more durable QB.

Like they say "pay the man" and move on because this is not about having Prescott or Wentz, it is about Prescott or the unknown.

To answer this properly, I would have to know who this other QB would be. If it were Trevor Lawrence or maybe even Herbert or Tua, I would take that chance but even getting the chance at either of those QB's is a real long shot.

In order to really answer this question, the Cowboys record of acquiring QB's has to be the first thing to consider, they are not remotely good at it, just very lucky. So, it's pay Prescott or bet on more luck. Pay the man.

If you forget in Wentz's original contract, then you have to do the same for Dak. Just compare apples/apples. He's getting 32m minimum. We all have to just come to terms with it.

Best is a special case. He's made a ton, despite all the feel good stories about his altruism, and his wife makes a lot more then he does.

If the future is like the past, then what would Jerry really be surrendering? The idea that somehow Dallas was destined to be a Super Bowl team, but that damn Dak took away money to get the team there is built on what historical evidence?

Did this team go out and get a safety? Did they go out and get a premiere pass rusher? Quinn's nice but is he a beast that causes Tank to be all-world? Did they go get a stud nose tackle to stop the bleeding we all saw against the Rams?

The answer is no. So even on a one year rent-a-stud, and getting ready for Dak's payday next season, they didn't remarkably upgrade this team to something that looks like a sure bet to be a play-off monster. Could be, but forgive me for still being in the show me mode from twenty plus years of Jerry's failures.

So what earth shaking move did Jerry and company do that tells you tomorrow will be anything but more of yesterday?

And if all this doesn't convince you the fretting over the cap is useless, then I will give you one last decision Jerry didn't make which would have proven he really understands winning and is prepared to take the team into new vistas of success.
