And here we go.....

This story seems really mealy-mouthed, but it's out there. My gut though is that it's true.

Zeke sees the writing on the wall. The Cowboys are about to run his wheels off this season, and he wants to get paid now before they "Demarco Murray" him out of here.

The Cowboys are probably fine with this for now because they barely have him do anything in camp anyway, and frankly, most of us thought he was going to get a game or two suspension.

Unless he agrees to something reasonable - like 4 years for $50 mm with $30 mm guaranteed - I think the Cowboys will stand pat. It's risky to pay big money to guys that are untrustworthy off the field, especially at the running back position.
people forget lets rehash, THEY OFFERED DMURRAY a new contract..NOT MUCH LESS PER YER THEN PHILLY but not enough years or guarantees for Murray and he CHOSE to walk..they didnt run him out of town..t was reasonable offer..

ADD inflation and zeke a touch better blocker and pass catcher he deserves to get paid more then 12.5 he deserves something in between Bell and Gurley.., if you extend now its not big deal 4 years 55 mil 3years guaranteed, why is 2 extra yrs and pay him while he fully producing.

let him go next time he holds out or is up for renewal.. if he can play the way hes been playing for 4 years hes worth every penny..hes not injury prone and can help this team win NOW..3-4 years and then we can talk cuts and trades..hes in his DANG PRIME and last year adding he catching to his running and blocking has shown hes even worth more then yrs prior given he is utilized like a work horse for all 4 downs .. insane to say hes not worth it..Gurleys Hurt, Bell got 13 something and Zeke is on par with both of them..

I'm pretty sure they're addressing two situations here...
1. Players under contract (which Zeke is)
2. Players who have been drafted but not signed with the team that drafted them (not under contract)...hence, they can't sign with another team until the day of the next year's draft. This scenario never plays out anymore since the slotting of rookie contracts went into affect.
Someone posted in #34, the rule for Zeke's situation, and it was clear from that that he has to report by 6 August.
Players don't report all the time across the league for training camp during holdouts, and they don't lose a year of accrual for it.

Zeke still holds the power. This offense is anemic without him.

That's not the whole point.

They ran Demarco Murray into the ground that year. He was never the same again. Zeke knows this.

Zeke really has no power in this.

Dallas doesn't have to do a thing and if he sits out i'm ok with that because it might get Dak and the Cowboys to see the light when it comes to his deal.

I hope Zeke sits out but he wont because Dallas currently has all the leverage.

Imagine Zeke sits out and a backup comes in like what always happens in Pittsburgh and their run game doesn't miss a beat which will probably happen because production for RB's is all about volume.

Guy has 2 years left on his contract....have fun holding out buddy, if you don’t like the way rookie contracts are structured then talk to your player rep and have them negotiate a better cba!

Frankly I don’t care about a Whiney immature millionaire that doesn’t want to adhere to the contract that he signed. I know we would struggle without him but frankly I’m just getting so sick of this part of the modern nfl. I am 37 and it keeps getting worse, between that and the penalties and changes to contact the game is really starting to lose its luster...

hmm odd MR E Smiths did it TWICE!!!

as a rookie before his first contract,

https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1990-09-04-sp-766-story.html

and hmm odd Irony after 3yrs in the legaue and knew he dereved to be the highest paid

Emmitt Smith led the league in rushing in 1992, and helped the Cowboys to a Super Bowl victory that season. But he was set to make just $465,000 in 1993, so he held out for a deal that would more closely reflect his level of production. Smith missed the first two games of the regular season, both of which the Cowboys lost. The team finally came through with a deal worth $13.6 million over four years that made Smith (at the time) the highest-paid running back in league history, and Dallas became the first team to lose its first two games and then go on to win a Super Bowl in the same season.

anyone *****ing about Smiths doiung it not once but TWICE..no because he was able to prove he was worth it and Zeke has earned that right as well..

I agree with him,

if you know how they intend to use you up and low ball you and throw you away, he should hold out but Murray did NOT get ran out..emit did it twice as rookie and after 3 years as pro yes he held out twice!!

He has power.

With Zeke, this is a 10-6 to 12-4 team.

Without Zeke, this is a 8-8 team at best.

He has power.

I'd call his bluff and look at the positives if he decides to sit.

I have no problem with this thing crashing and burning this season if it got rid of Garrett and made Dak less delusional about the type of money he is worth.

He's not even in a contract year yet.. Is he going to sit out 2 years? Puhlease. He's powerless..

You have two years before this roster changes dramatically. You have to win now while you have the chance.

A new offense doesn't change the fact that Dak is useless without Zeke on the field. There are no "magic plays" that will turn Dak into Brady or Brees all of the sudden.

Point is that Zeke needs to learn the new offense so his presence is crucial

Ah, I see your point.

That might make him feel like he has even more leverage right now. "You want me there learning the offense, then pay me."

He does LOVE Kellen Moore, for what it's worth. Which is oddly weird and cool at the same time.

Holding out is a bargaining ploy. What if he were to sustain a major injury like sean lee before a deal was finalized? It's really the only bargaining chip he's got. Just business.

Bunch of tough talk in this thread over a "league" source lol.

Just a reminder Florio is a hack:cool:

Still no luck on that Dez tape?

No worries I'll just make up a story about Zeke holding out and going outta the country..

Cowboy fans hook line and sinker!

Yep.. sure looks like it. Dallas media is all reporting.

The kid is sharper than I thought. Jerry might let this go into the season and see how we do without him.

I’m so sick of this E-walk. Trade him already. He’s a mistake waiting to happen. If you can get a 1st take it and run.
Our fans are so ignorant. They want instant gratification and if they don’t get it, they make posts like this. If the balloon ever went up, these are the people that will perish in the first month.
