If we just pay everyone

Yeah, that's the line being fed to people by many who are firmly entrenched on the players' side. However, it does not work that way.

Don't tell him Dak and Zeke are both in year 4 and demanding franchise altering cash.

as some are suggesting, it's back to 8-8. That is what this formula gets you. Paying a few stars a ton of money always leads back to mediocrity. Especially if they're mostly on one side of the ball.

Bingo . You nailed it . Two-Three super expensive players, and 49 JAGS .
One mediocre coaching staff,
we'll get to 8-8 if we are lucky .

How does it not work that way?

The Cowboys have been non existent in the FA market for years, supposedly to retain the core. They have a large amount of cap space in 2020.
It's to be determined if it all works out. Can crash and burn like in years past.

They will have to let some good players walk, too.

I'm all for churning out running backs in the draft.
But the QB position is tough to find a competent player, let alone an elite one. WR isn't as tough to find, but is not an easy position to adapt to the NFL like the RB spot.

They have been drafting better. And as of now, have not let any of their very good to elite players walk.

That statement is ambiguous at best. What do you mean by, "as some people suggest"? I don't keep up with the grapevine so you'll have to do better than that if you want to assign meaning to your comments. What are you so afraid to say that you resort to speaking in code. Just come out and say what you mean, man!

I don't mind the players making the money, but 50 million bucks is being sneezed at and called "disrespecting". One of the stupidest things I've ever heard.

I used to think I'd always be a football fan, but I'm starting to wonder.

Usually, those who use the term "disrespect" and "disrespecting" have never given respect to others nor done the heavy lifting to earn respect. Thus, it is a nebulous term, something they hear but do not know the depth of the word. If only a caring dad or mom had taught therm true respect.

It's a foreign term to most young players that means the world owes them glowing reviews all the time, and even a mere suggestion to them on improvement is seen as an attack on their manhood. Most players were coddled since junior high school, never had to work off the field and see the world as their romper room. Then they get rich and assume glorified status by those wanting as piece of the pie.

You never see true great men and women use that word disrespect.
Its only a street word that is used to prop up manhood or what they think is manhood.

It takes good drafting and good coaching to win in the salary cap era.

Cowboys report card:

Good drafting - check.

Good coaching - I'll let you decide.

I would have signed Zeke and Cooper. Find a real QB and let Jones walk too.

But now I'd only sign Cooper. Zeke can smoke an eternal turd in hell. Force him to waste a year or two of his physical prime if you don't get a proper trade offer but do not in any way negotiate with his agent. You only negotiate with those who act in good faith. He should have written his ticket out of Dallas with this holdout.

Find a QB. Find a RB. Do not pay all these guys like they're the best in the league. They've done nothing. The QB isn't even top 20. The WR has never been top 10 at his position and the RB is legit elite but showed his true colors with years left on his contract. You don't need a guy like that around.

People are screaming that we should "just pay them". Or him.

Not code, it's very very simple. When you start handing out max contracts, your team suffers elsewhere. And that keeps you from advancing in the playoffs, and has the added effect of shortening the window.

I have no clue how you got "fear" out of this.

Very nicely done.

I don't like free agency. I don't want to high price leftover play someone else doesn't want for that exact reason. I believe in football players not primadonnas. Give me a team of solid football players great coaching, teach them to play as one. Unstoppable. Culture of the locker room camaraderie is so important today. So again give me a bunch of solid football players
I’m with you. Well said

When you use a large percentage of your salary cap on just a few players, you are left w/ JAG's elsewhere, and if someone goes down, the replacement is mostly going to be grossly subpar.

Football is a rough game and people get hurt. Having quality backups is extremely important.

You mean that thing fabricated by the owners so they can trick fans that they have no choice but to not spend money ......... yes I am aware of it.
It's not a fabrication, it's real. I'm not sure you know what fabrication means.

All businesses have some sort of cap. Just the way it works.

Since the NFL minimum is around $600,000, the players are getting a very nice chunk of the pie, and they deserve it.
