You put Troy Aikman on this team with these rules today and he would shatter records. That man could throw the football and didnt tolerate losing. You put Aikman with Zeke and two 1,000 yard receivers and it would be over. Troy could make every throw on the field.

Aikman didn't have great feet, but he was an amazingly accurate passer. Tex Schramm said he threw the most catchable balls they had ever seen... and that was before they drafted him...

Oooh, but Romo was outright allowed to go super pass heavy for years without question, even when he had a decent rushing attack to lean on? You know like that single season franchise passing record year of 2012 where the team rushed 355 times for 1,265 yards but passed 658 times for Romo's franchise season passing record of 4,903 yards which resulted in an 8 - 8 year in which Romo got praised?

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/dal/2012.htm

Yet, this 2019 8 - 8 season, Dak gets blasted for passing 596 times for 4,902 yards while the team ran the ball 449 times for a total of 2,153 yards. A much more balanced attack. It's very obvious today's team was way more balanced than that 2012 team, yet Dak gets blasted for supposedly being a greedy pass heavy QB, while Romo got praised in 2012 for actually passing a lot more than the team rushed the football?

This is the slanted bias that I'm talking about and why I bring up Romo. It's intentional, unwarranted, falsely accusatory and hypocritical.

I never once said Romo should have been allowed to be pass happy. I always blasted him when he made big mistakes. The team forgot about the run in years with Romo and years without Romo. That's on Garrett. I don't believe in changing a game plan or risking a game just so one player can get some kind of record. You do what works to win. PERIOD. It's a team game. They win as a team, they lose as a team. Please point out where I ever attacked Dak for getting pass happy. I always blamed the OC and coaches for that garbage. You whining about hypocritical is funny! Since you've been nothing but that in defending Dak in the same way people defended Romo when you blasted Romo...accusing Romo of the same things you defend Dak for.

I believe in Dak. His performance in the last half of this season raised some questions, but I still believe he can get it done. I just wanna be sure before he gets that huge contract. He regressed inexplicably a bit.

No, Dak didn't regress. Heck, I wish YouTube didn't take down this one video of Romo's 2011 - 2013 seasons compilation where Romo was badly missing receivers that were wide open while Romo had good pass protection. The video was 12 minutes long showing poor pass plays over and over by Romo. Even more than today's Dak, yet Romo didn't get blasted anywhere as bad as Dak.

I don't think your memory is working right. Romo got FAR more criticism that Dak ever has yet.

Are you serious? A majority of fans protected Romo. It's totally the opposite for Dak. Anyone can see that. You're either blind or outright in denial..

I think you're seriously forgetting the whole Romo Subforum thing... and just how much bashing there was. I think a lot of people are just unsure of Dak as opposed to bashing him, but you're so all-in on defending him that you can't see that.

Why if the Cowboys had a 31 point lead? Why not let Dak go for the franchise single season passing record and try to reach 5,000 passing yards?
Why try to get some meaningless record that means absolutely not S#!& in the grand scheme of things. Does it change there record, get them in the playoffs, get them any closer to a championship. Sorry I'm just not much of a conspiracy advocate, especially when it concerns favoring a former player over a current one! Daks going to be around another 8 years or so, he'll have plenty of time to break a record I doubt he cares about!

The record means jack.

The year Romo set the record, the Cowboys were 8-8 and missed the playoffs...………..sound familiar?

Wait... you mean a balanced attack wins championships and it's a team game and individual records should be something that happens and not something to sacrifice the team for!?! What kind of talk is that? It smacks of sorcery!

You think Romo could survive behind this Oline, group of receivers/TEs and playcalling? Seriously. You've seen Dak get hit over and over, some vicious hits in the pocket. No way Romo would survive them. This is why I like Dak because he has the body of a linebacker while carrying a very good arm but also can make plays with his feet while withstanding a beating game after game. Exactly the type of QB this team needs. Dak is more than plenty of good. You guys simply want the best passer in the league, but that passer would not be able to withstand the beatings Dak receives behind this Oline, the inconsistent rushing attack and receiving.

Or maybe the Aikman that had so may concussions, he could no longer take the team on his back...
Yup. Aikman got killed. He played in a time QBs were not protected, his line was nowhere near as good as many believe they were, playing against great defensive fronts, and having his head slammed down into concrete turf.

He would destroy this league now, playing with this line on soft spongy turf where QBs and WR are protected.

This game was already won by the end of the 1st half. Should have let Dak go for the franchise single season passing record and try to reach 5K passing yards.

Agreed... Staubach was the last great QB that would kick your ***... then call your family to tell them he kicked your *** and was sorry...

LOL. Uhhh, no. Absolutely not. You saw what happened to Romo not too long ago, and that's because Romo was arguably one of the best pocket scramblers.

yeah, but you don't remember that Romo was good and elusive before the O-line went bad..and he took those vicious repeated hits and that's what killed his health. Of course he wouldn't survive now. Dak will have that problem too if it's not corrected fast.
It has nothing to do with wanting the best passer in the league. He shouldn't be throwing behind receivers all the time in his 4th year! Even other team's backups don't do that all of the time. Dak is a great leader. He's got great legs. He's an adequate passer that's good enough most of the time. His defense reading still needs some work and he's not being served well by this playbook. How well did his passing look against teams with winning records? How well did it look against the Eagles when it REALLY mattered? It didn't look good enough. He contributed to key losses. He caused no losses, but he contributed. Just like Romo did.

So keep trying to change the narrative to say whatever you want, but what I just said is true. Dak has earned criticism at times, like Romo did. Dak has earned the doubts and should be tagged. Let the new HC determine what HE needs in a QB. My guess is that it will be Dak.

Now quit assuming that ANY criticism of Dak means hatred of him and that people want him gone. I've defended Dak since day 1. I still believe in him but have questions that HE put there.
