Just spitballing here, but I would guess that the number of teams with top 3-5 QB's is somewhere between...

wait for it...

3 and 5.

To say that Dak is a top 10-15 QB is statistically demonstrably false, but keep hating and get ready to rant when Jerry gives him a 5-year contract.

Settle down Pilgrim I’m not a Dak hater and stats don’t win games... Dak is improving every season, but this is the first year as a Pro that we know of him getting injured. He had a little set back but I expect him to bounce back.

If I was Dak, I would evaluate myself as to whether the late season regression was because of injuries or something else. If I truly believed 2020 will be a better and more consistent year than 2019 then I would welcome teh franchise tag, play my butt off in 2019 and then ask for Jerry to open the vault.

But Dak also has to consider the rest of the team. With so many free agents what happens if Cooper and Cobb leave. Dak has to remember what it was like without Cooper. Is the OL breaking down? Is Jarwin up to a #1 TE role? Is Zeke going to take a step back in 2020? Dak needs to make sure his team is not going to let him down. If they do, he loses his bet when he takes the franchise tag.

These two contradict eachother. If you want the owner to open up the vault then you have little concern in regards to the rest of the team.

In my opinion franchising Dak would not be with the intentions of opening up the vault. It makes Dak a placeholder until the Cowboys can find a suitable replacement. And with any luck, some stupid team signs him and gives up two first rounders. Dak has played for 4 years. Dan Marino isn't going to miraculously appear out of nowhere. We know what we have with Dak. We'll have more of the same next season too. A FT now just means we don't want you long term, just for the time being since you are currently our best chance of winning.

Nothing is permanent in the NFL.

If I were Dak, i'd hit the free market and sign the biggest deal possible

Lol. No team in the in the league is going to pay him more than 25 mil, as he will likely be a backup for many teams at this point. Other teams like the Bengals, Dolphins, Panthers, etc are looking to draft and raise a rookie QB, not an average QB that has hit his ceiling.

I'm no NFL expert but neither is anyone else...here. But can;t believe people watched the same games I did and believe Dak has no flaws or worth paying #1 QB money for.

I am not saying Zeke or Law are...in fact...as big of a zeke fan as i WAS.....I didnt want to pay him THAT much (just ask Star).

Waiting for a new regime, if there is one.

man I have no clue. Don’t know if I imagined it, read a post from another thread, or if I’m just flat out stupid. But sorry for this exchange because I clearly don’t know what I’m talking about

If I were Dak I wouldn't have quit on the team with 5 games left to play.
If I were Dak I would realize that Jerry DID see how badly the quarterback play was this year, last year, and the year before.
If I were Dak I would realize that there is a reason the Cowboys cooled in contract negotiations, and that was because of his poor play.
If I were Dak I would get my head out of the clouds and get to work on improving my game- specifically trying to prepare so that in pressure situations I wouldn't choke and throw interceptions, terrible passes, or throw the ball into the ground on 4th down with the game hanging in the balance.
If I were Dak, I'd be happy with $15 million per year for a couple of years after the way he chokes.
He didn't.
Hard to say.
Possibly.
I think he's presently doing that. You don't know that he's not.
No, you would not.

No, you would not.

Some of the responses are nonsensical. Dak played thru two injuries but he quit...

If you or I were Dak:

I’d consider taking a team friendly deal say three years at $25-Mill per fully guaranteed with stipulations that I had input on new coaches, scheme, and maybe adding a few quality free agents..

Or I’d test the market, refuse the tag, and demand Top Market Rate Dollars...

Truth is playing QB for Dallas is a dream job and I’d take even less than that.. I just thought maybe we can all give our own hypothetical scenarios if we were Dak. New fresh thread idea...

Dream job or not, being in Dallas brings in revenue to the starting QB that is not available on most other franchises. Dak should factor that into his asking price.

If I were Dak at this point in time, I'd be far more inclined than he appears to be to either take what he could get from the team at this juncture or go elsewhere. I'd venture to say that he's probably considering that last thought lately, judging from some recent statements that he's made. In view of his current situation, it's anyone's guess if the coaching replacement for Garrett might be inclined to consider replacing Dak if his recent struggles persist.

Conversely, there's no question but what some additional offensive help might serve Dak well, especially if draft replacements are found for a tight end to replace the aging Jason Witten and possibly even WR, Amari Cooper, who has had ongoing injury limitations. Other additions, like a promising OT would also be likely to improve Dak's chances for success, in the event Tyron Smith and Zack Martin's injury limitations continue.

Fire my agent. Asked for too much and it didnt work out. Cowboys are moving on - clearing house. Dak needs to take whatever offers he can get in FA - which will be a lot lower than his agents expextations.

If I were Dak I would say lets do a deal for 27-28 mil.
And if I were Jerry I would laugh in his face and say that ship has sailed. Go see what the open market will pay you after that team gives us 2 first round picks. Son your gonna have to accept 18-20 mil because you just aint that good.

What would you ask for or do?
He can only test the free market if dallas let him walk. If they franchise him, his only option is to not sign it and try to force the team to give him a long term deal. Something that is not very appealing for a qb. Signing the franchise deal worked out well for cousins. He made a ton of money.

I’d sign the most money from whatever team possible. It’s a small list of quarterbacks that have accomplished what he has at his age.
