Convince me Payton is that much better than McCarthy

Im not at all caping for McCarthy, but tbh, he may be the best option as far as candidates with NFL experience.

Some are okay with giving up picks for Payton, and passing on McCarthy

No picks for any coach. Not with guys like Meyer available. IMO.

It was reported that McCarthy would schedule personal massages during practice time . The offense and Rodgers stopped listening to him years before he was let go . McCarthy is basically Wade Phillips just lazier and less knowledgeable .

He’d be a text book Jerry hire .

See what Aaron Jones did this year compared to 2017-18.

That’s on McCarthy. Stevie Wonder could see that Jones was a stud who should’ve been the lead back. McCarthy couldn’t.
Worse than that, McCarthy ran the ball only 34.2% of the time his last year in GB. Ick. Sooooo, we hire McC, same ol' same ol'?

He has a point though. Biggest question with McCarthy is what did he actually learn from his last two years in GB. If you want us to fire a HC with NFL head coaching experience, McCarthy is your only decent option.

Thats why I would prefer we go with a college guy or coordinator. Id take the inexperience as an NFL HC to gain a fresh perspective

I prefer Urban Meyer, a guy they're not calling stale.

Well... If you want to ignore the elephant in the room that is Aaron Rodgers and the fact they are the 2 seed without him then yeah there is no difference.
It will be interesting to see how the Packers play vs much better overall competition than they have faced all year. Home field will be huge for them.

Jones dealt with a suspension and was injured going on IR in those first 2 seasons.
This season he was used more but he was also available more.
He only ran for 7 yards a game more in 2019 than he did 2018....

Ted Thompson wasn't a great GM for GB and winning long term hurts you with the cap.
As does having the highest paid player in league history as AR was while feuding with family, going through celebrity break ups, getting injured and playing like crap.

McCarthy did not get it done those 2 seasons thus why he is available.
Every other available option will be in the same boat.
No other actual option will have been to 4 Champ Games.

Is he is a risk? Sure. But a better bet than any other realistic option.

Rodgers is a complete mental case who has basically ostracized his entire family. Google it. Publicly beefed with his brother, and apparently shut his parents out of his life. I'd take whatever issue he had with McCarthy with a complete grain of salt as it pertains to McCarthy's coaching abilty.
Aaron was refusing to run the plays McC called.

You know who else are mental cases? Tiger Woods. LeBron James. Kevin Durant. Kobe Bryant. Man I could go on and on. Getting along with your mega stars is part of the job.
