Don't worry.......Moore is calling plays using Mike standards/expectation for his offense. Notice he said, 2020 and he's learning the current offensive system. This tells me Mike's looking at the fact Kellen produced the lead #1 offense. Why fix what's not broken........until I have to. I can Mike tweaking some things, such as red zone production but make no mistake, this offense will produce to his standards.
it was broken, thats the point. that #1 offense had a ton of empty yards

Maybe MM has more insight into how things were handled with Moore during the time of our fearless leader clap happy Garrett?
Who knows... I would guess that if it isn't going well, he will take over that part.

Moore's scheme is made for speed and separation, both in limited supply in the red zone. And we got the WRs to match that. We're just weaker in the redzone with our WRs and TEs. No physical players that box out.

The redzone is where our potential multi-runthreat offense could really shine. Where *Dak* could really shine. Sturdy running QB who throws well on the move and makes good choices. Add Dak to the oline and multiple run threats there, and we should be awesome in the redzone.

I'm surprised by Moore calling plays. McCarthy seems like a better play caller. I expected Moore and McCarthy to merge schemes this year, and let Moore see how McCarthy calls the offense.

I wonder if this was really McCarthy's choice, or he offered it during negotiations because it seemed like what Jerry wanted, and McCarthy wanted the job.

from 2016-2018 Dallas won a whole lot of games with redzone TDs from Elliot and Dak. That disappeared last yr.

So what is McCarthy doing then?

He's the head bleepin' coach - all of the other coaches report to him. This notion that the head coach isn't doing anything if he's not calling plays is comical. :muttley:

But anyone who thought MM's hiring was some shift in how the Cowboys operate was kidding themselves. Another new coach, same GM, same organization.

"It's fair to wonder if team owner Jerry Jones preferred such an approach with Moore anyway, seeing as Dallas ranked among the NFL's top offenses -- and at one point had quarterback Dak Prescott in the MVP conversation -- under the 31-year-old's 2019 direction. Jones was reportedly adamant about retaining Moore, who previously spent three seasons with the team as a backup QB, and reportedly preferred Garrett surrender his own play-calling duties during his stint atop the staff."

"McCarthy, of course, has a offensive background of his own. And it's not common for a Super Bowl-winning coach to give up such an important responsibility before even taking the field with a new team. But McCarthy emphasized in the lead-up to his hiring a willingness to adapt and be creative after spending 2019 out of football. Beginning his Cowboys career with a hands-off approach could be the first example of that."

Sorry to hear you have anger issues. Perhaps you should check yourself into the nearest psycho facility? I'm sure your poor neighbors will be happy to call the cops and have you committed if you ask nicely.

He has issues .....probably MAN issues......

Well, that's his problem and he shouldn't bring it to the board where the topic is football. Screaming hater every time someone posts something you don't agree with is juvenile, childish and plain silly, if not ignorant.

(Part of my problem is reading these long posts where every other post someone uses the word hater. After a while its nothing but an puerile attempt at an argument)

When a person can give reasons, whether you agree with their reasons are not, it indicates a person who has given thought to an idea. That is the last thing from some 8 year old who relies on the term hate to get his way.

Again, maybe I've just seen it too many times today. But after reading "hater" 199 times, I'd put it on the banned words list and everyone who used it would get a time out.

And that's all I gotta say about that.

They resort to the "Hate" word when they have run out of viable arguments for there employer Dak Prescott.

I'm a little surprised because I would have swore MM said in an interview he would not give up play calling and then this comes about. I like everything hes done with bringing in his own guys but im unsure about why he would give up play calling to a guy he didnt bring in. I hope this move is really his doing and not some b.s. play by Jerry persuading him to do so.

I want MM..not the same thing...HOWVEVER, OUR OFFENSE did put up gawdy numbers. The real issue was coaching and D.
The offense put up big numbers against bad teams and when facing a blowout, they were incapable of putting up those numbers against good teams.

They should go back and ask for new words. Something more mature that says, "I heard what you said, but I don't agree" while pointing out what they disagree with, would be nicer. It would at least show they have enough intelligence to have a mature conversation without sounding like a whiny 6 year old who screams, "I hate you mom!" while throwing a temper tantrum in aisle 16.

First line of the article I posted......

"Mike McCarthy once said he'd "never" give up play-calling duties, but eight months ahead of his debut as the Dallas Cowboys' head coach, he's done just that."

Well this was my benchmark for Jerrys meddling. It seemed to me that MM was intent on calling the plays.

I hope he made this choice on his own. I can understand wanting SOME continuance on offense. I advocated a slow transition, gradually building the offense into his vision and adding plays as we go along, because I didn't want to see us struggle in year one of a brand new offense.

We all saw our short comings on that side of the ball, people within the league maybe look at it differently, such as that was the #1 ranked offense last season.

All said, I don't want to see the same old offense VS GOOD DEFENSES. I hope MM is truly here to make changes for the better not just within the staff and culture, but in the playbook as well.

The other thing we dont know if is KM was handcuffed by Garrett and his conservative approach. Our offense certainly looked night and day from weeks 1-3 to 4-6. We stopped taking shots and went stale. I hope Garrett was involved in that failure and not all Moore.

This feels like the exact opposite of what Mike McCarthy talked about in his Peter King interview.

In that interview, he talked about himself being the play-caller and that the play-caller needs to be the person who installs the offense each week.

Not a fan of this at all.

Either Jerry pushed this, or they really wanted Moore to stay and that was part of their agreement to keep him.

Well he actually said whoever installs the offense during the week needs to call the plays, so guys understand why you are calling the plays you are calling. Id assume KM will be installing the offense during the week, whatever that amounts to.

yes the same way Eric Bienemy does for reid , reid calls them to EB and he calls them in..most of the game is still called by MM just relayed through KM..i doubt he hands over the full play calling dutys right away..its way to earl in the off season to decide that IMO

thats the plan is a phrase used with an out clause as plans change lol

Good point.

that's exactly how i got the same impression too. The calls will go thru to Kellen for him to call them out, but it will still be MM's offense.
and him calling the shots in how we play..

but i do wonder if MM will be very open to KM's suggested input though as it seems to be something about Kellen that influenced
MM to keep him around as OC, .. ala pre-snap motion, RPO formations, pace and tempo, continuing rapport with Dak, etc.
Is Kellen part of the new innovative expansion that even McCarthy is seeking at improving himself ?
