Funny how a few stats are posted about Jaylon and he’s a legitimate Pro Bowler. Post a few stats that put Dak in a good light and he’s still a scrub. I guess Dak didn’t “brand” himself good enough to make the Pro Bowl this year, if only he begged for more attention and sold some sun glasses on the side he may have won the popularity contest.

defensive stats are a bit more cut and dry, and a single lber has less than a fraction of the impact that a QB has. That said, I think the morons who gloss over Daks stats are shortsighted simpletons. Don’t need to sacrifice Jaylon to prove that point tho, and we definitely aren’t going to play the branding card w: mr Chunky Soup

His rookie year the play went this way and he went the other. Even LB’s with no athletic ability can diagnose plays. I think he’s lived his whole life on athletic ability that it’s finally caught up to him. I hope Edwards coaches him up.
In that regard, He's eerily similar to Lavar Arrington (totally different body type), very explosive player with good people skills but football dumb for the most part.

Jaylon is embarrassing when he jumps up and down celebrating for making a pass breakup when they are down 20 points. And then gets burnt for the TD on the next play. Jaylon is embarrassing when he calls himself a HOTBOY!!! LOL

As far as the Kuechly stats you just put up there, it should be noted that Kueckly retired because he said he simply cNRt play up to his standards anymore.

It should also be noted that MLbers typically lead their team in tackles.

Sack are now overrated? Quinn is a DE FYI........not a linebacker. And it should also be noted that Jaylon got burnt often in the run game. Although I fully concur that Quinn is bad there.

I agree, Jaylon is an emotional player - he shouldn't celebrate as much but that's just who he is. The Hotbotz are a reference to lil Wayne's original rap group and they put out some FIRE in the 90's - It's a dumb name for a defense though.

I disagree - Kuechly is still an absolute Elite linebacker, but I knew people would bring up his retirement so that's why I referenced Bobby Wagner.

Sacks are way overrated and I know he's a DE, you missed my point completely - he put Jaylon is some horrible situations because of the fact he was simply sack hunting, he wasn't helping the team - he was trying to get a big contract by racking up as many sacks as possible. He's a BIG reason Jaylon got "burnt often in the run game". That dude can kick rocks.

It is tackle football and you can't get a sack without tackling the quarterback.

I could really careless about sacks, holding pentalities often lead to more lost yardage than a sack. Quinn sucks and you people are way too high on him. He screwed this defense more than he helped it - period.

Jaylon had a really good season, but people need something to complain about. The only thing we should complain about is his swipe in the ground after a regular play, other than that no complaints here.

I'm not a Jaylon hater and you're not going to see any posts from me freaking out over the swipe. That being said, Jaylon's play this season fluctuated between bad and average for the entire year, and he physically looked off for the first half of the season. The frustrating thing was that the one game he looked like a true difference maker in was the meaningless finale against the Commanders.

I legit can't explain why he fell off so hard. People's first response is always to blame the team for not having fat enough DTs, but there's plenty of snaps of him whiffing on open-field tackles where there's not a DT even on the screen. All I know is that both our LBs went from studs to highly questionable in just one season.

The thing that makes Kuechly great isn't the high volume of tackles. It's the lack of mistakes. I love Jaylon but he makes a hell of a lot more the Luke Kuechly.

Jaylon is an embarassment in the way he behaves on the field. Its not even debatable. Yeah he makes a lot of tackles but he makes very few plays that impact the game. He is the ultimate garbage time stat collector. Worst contract Jerry has given out in a long time.
Him and his stupid swipe crap when they are down 3 scores. Terrible angles, missing tackles, refusing to take on blocks. How many TFLs did he have?

So there's some threads and posts floating around that are flat out ludacris. A guy just posted that Jaylon is an embarrassment to the organization so I feel compelled to offer you this:

Player A: 144 tackles (81 solo), 0 sacks. 2 ints

Player B: 142 tackles (83 solo), 2.5 sacks, 1 ints

Player A is Luke Kuechly
Player B is Jaylon Smith

Jaylon had the 6th most tackles in the entire NFL (3 solo tackles behind league leader Bobby Wagner; largely regarded as the best LB in the NFL). Jaylon also had .5 less sacks and the same number of INTs as Wagner.

To say Jaylon is an embarrassment to this organization is an embarrassing thing to say - the guy isn't even in his prime yet and had to deal with idiots like Robert Quinn not being able to stop the run or screens to save his damn life (the guy had 26 solo tackles in 2019). Quinn was sack hunting the whole season so he could get a big contract & it compromised this whole defense (especially the LBs - in my opinion). I get some of you are in love with Quinn because sacks (the most overrated thing in all of football) make people fall in love with players. If I'm the Cowboys I couldn't get rid of Quinn fast enough & this Jaylon Smith slander needs to stop - it's ridiculous.

I think our linebackers were making up for some bad coaching from bloom. Once bloom was benched they all seemed to play better.

I have zero personal feelings toward Jaylon and all the respect in the world for him coming back from that injury. But he was flat out awful against the Vikes and Packers. This play vs the Vikings is a perfect example of how not to play mlb.

This is TACKLE football, not flag football big guy. If you think tackling is a worse stat - you're out of your damn mind.

Tackles are not even an official stat.

Judging a defensive player on raw tackle totals is like surmising the best QBs are the ones with the most passing yards.

We should all worship at the feet of Scott Mitchell.

To be fair, isn't tackling a kind of bogus, unofficial stat because it's based on third-party tallies which the league itself doesn't really even acknowledge or confirm the accuracy of?

Or did they fix this in recent years without me noticing? Because last I heard, it was a nonsense, inaccurate fluff statistic (tallied by people the team handpicks themselves, no less, as I recall).

BINGO.
