I've tried to keep an objective opinion about this matter, but the more time that passes, the more he says, the more his fans say, and the more I recollect on Dak's play, I have come to the conclusion that he should be somewhere else in 2020.
It all comes down to results, and for Dak to be demanding big money, despite missing the playoffs in 2019 and not producing when the games mattered, it shows a lack of maturity and a mindset that I believe will be detrimental to the team.
Only in Dallas would a quarterback who loses half his games be coddled to the extent that he thinks he should be one of the highest paid players in the NFL.
I hope the Cowboys offer him the non-exclusive tag and another team offers him more, and he gets to see what playing for another team is like.

IMO We would only put the non-exclusive on him if we want to sign him.

I do think we tag him and hopefully draft a QB high (at least 2nd round). See how it works out next year with Dak and give his successor one year to develop.

The more i hear the talk that all sides want a deal but cant get it done the less i believe Dallas is really interessted in him.

I could end all this in 2 seconds!

I'd just call the QB in, say this is how much money we have.
These are the people we have to sign.
Go make these guys happy.
And I'll make you happy.

How many of them gonna want to face their teammates with that news?

I could end all of this talk in 1 second.....Cut

The team in Dallas has gone through so much change lately its almost as if they are no longer the Cowboys. They are now the Dallas Packers so I guess in a way Dak will be signing with a new team.

I don't know about the Dallas Packers.... But they stopped being the Dallas Cowboys a long time ago... We had people wuss out all over that team this season.

As far as Dak goes... tag him.

I don't know why the pro Dak fans, have such a problem with tagging him. If he doesn't like it tough... learn to live with it, use it as a chip on your shoulder to prove everyone wrong, if you think you are that good.
I mean it isn't like you wouldn't still be making serious bank, and all that endorsement money.

I mean if he is that great, after this season Dallas or someone will give him that holy grail paycheck he is dying for.

And if he got hurt, and football was over for him... he still makes enough to live out his life, if he isn't an idiot.

He just won't be driving a Bugatti and living in a $20mil house.

There is nothing there I can argue with. His salary for being tagged will be more than he's made his entire time with the Cowboys. There is no reason for him to resist that while they continue to negotiate a long term deal. Fans that see something wrong with that don't know what they are talking about.

Our fanbase is unhinged with their irrational prejudgment against Dak.

Earlier, someone started conversation about whether we'd have been better off with Dak or Josh Allen, and typical Dak haters of course used it as an excuse to say we wouldn't have been any worse because Allen is no worse. This despite Allen's current established ceiling (2019) still being lower than Dak's current established floor (2017).

I could not agree with you more...
Unfortunately he seems to have the same mentality as his friend Zeke who decided to not honor his existing contract and go to Cabo waiting to cash in...
Or D-Law who held off getting surgery until he was signed to a deal.
These clowns do not put the teams interests as primary, they can talk about winning all they want but honestly it’s all about money.
Dak is the same having already refused a contract because he believes he is worth much more...
The Cowboys FO should look at the Steelers and how the dealt with Mr.Bell, where is he now?
Argue all you want that they also missed the playoffs but the truth is that was due to injuries.
You think Bell doesn’t regret his actions and decisions?
Let Dak find out just how well he’d play elsewhere...

bell was replaceable. Roethlisberger was not. can't win without a top notch qb. true, there are a few better than dak, but he's the best that's come our way in a while and good enough to get us to the big dance with this new coaching staff.

Derek Carr has the same number of game winning drives as Dak since 2016. Both have 14. And Carr has 13 4th qtr comebacks to Dak's 8.

Russell Wilson has 15 game winning drives and 12 4th qtr comeback since 2016.
Wrong, Dak had 16. Your stats are wrong.

Where were your deep thoughts last year, and the year before? After one year of play, where the whole team stunk, you and others, blame Dak. I remember the same being said about Romo, except the reasoning was, he deserved better. He was paid more than the QB that win the championship that year. Celebrations, were in order, at that time.

Where has Dak ever said he wanted to be one of the highest paid players in the NFL? He said in an interview a few months ago that he doesn’t want to be the highest paid QB because he doesn’t deserve it. He pointed out that he’s never won a championship. Some of you need to stop listening to all these reports. Romo went 8-8 three straight seasons and was paid what the QB market was set at during that time. If you think the 500 season we had was all on Dak then you weren’t watching the games. His improved play and production was one of the only bright spots this past season.

All Dak has said is that he has confidence in his agent. His agent wants Dak to be the highest paid QB in the league. Do you think Dak is worth that kind of money? Thats the debate. If we were coming off a deep playoff run maybe you just sign him and take another shot. But this team team has no shot as currently constructed. So, the real question boils down to can MM make the changes he needs to make AND pay Dak what his agent wants. And FYI, a lot of Daks stats came in garbage time. The fact is that he didn't play well against anyone good nor did he engineer a single come from behind victory. He said at the beginning of the season that he was betting himself...........well, he lost the bet but STILL wants to be paid like he accomplished something.

Pay him now or let him walk. Don’t waste millions of dollars on a franchise tag.

I say we find another QB for $465k a year and see if he’s good enough to qualify for some performance escalators to increase his salary up to $1 million in a couple years.

Then we can complain every time he isn’t perfect and claim Dak would have done better.

Wash...rinse...repeat!
