Who else is still riding the high of Jason Garret being gone?

I respect that, and believe it or not I got to be around him a little as well back in the 90's when he made appearances at some of the golf shops I went to.. He seemed very fake to me back then with how he interacted, and I can imagine most players checked out on him pretty quickly as well.. I do think he is decent person for the most part though, he just isn't a good coach.
That's the same vibe I got. We talked football for about 2 hours, he just seemed like a robot....oh well, he's gone..

I don't revel in any man losing his job. Hope for better things to come was my primary goal. We haven't arrived there yet, as far as I can actually tell. There's a long way to go before getting "high" is truly justified.

It was simply absurd of Jerry to continue failing with someone so limited in his approach to winning. I still hope for better things to come, despite being mediocre for ten years. That hardly seems like a valid cause for celebration to me. It's more like simply starting over.

I'll wait to finally see we're actually capable of winning before feeling "high." We still have a flock of things to resolve before celebrations are in order. Let's first see if Mike McCarthy is a part of the answer we seek before getting overly warm and fuzzy. It's extremely early, just yet. o_O

Keeping him for 10 years is the worst thing Jerry Jones ever did as an owner and nobody talks about it when discussing his biggest blunders. That was his biggest blunder.

No doubt. The whole “learning on the job” thing was pathetically unbelievable. You learn on the job in Pop Warner/Pee Wee league, ages 10-12, not the NFL.

I didn't really want to start a thread on this topic, but I'm seriously wondering if anyone else is still feeling incredibly happy now that Garrett is someone else's problem?

It was obvious to most of us pretty early on that he didn't have the skills to get team over the hump so it was definitely one of the most difficult things I've had to endure as a fan watching him stick around year after year.

I know many of you are ready to give up on Big Mike already, but at least he has won a super bowl, and in my opinion, has a winning pedigree and understands how to put together a team. We need to keep an open mind with Big Mike at this point, last year can't be the barometer in my opinion.

I also want to apologize to my forum members who will cringe when they see another Jason garret thread! Bottom line, I'm still like a kid in a candy store knowing he's gone.

Happy he's gone. No matter how good the players we had on the field, I concluded that Garrett would inevitably prevent a championship. Now there is hope.

We would have made the playoffs last season if we had kept Garrett

Yeah I'm still glad he's gone. I remain unimpressed with MM. I still have hope for him, but he's lost quite a bit of my confidence already. I certainly don't trust him anymore.

Try not to ride too high. Garrett's clone Kellen Moore may just toss MM under the bus to become Dallas's new HC in the future.

Having big mike made me quickly forget Jason. We have a sb winning coach...... doesn’t that ensure playoff success?
Because I think it’s obvious, but people miss it..... that’s total sarcasm.

When has mike McCarthy built a team? He complained in gb about not having enough say all the time and all the credit went to that front office.

Also McCarthy was awful during games last year. Just awful.

My GOD.....your bashing and judging a Superbowl winning coach who has 1 yr under his belt with a new team, no TC last year, a covid year,, and massive injuries to the OL & QB. McCarthy may not be Bill Billacheat but at least this dude has been to a Super Bowl in the last 25yrs.... Something Jerry and Jason Garrett cant say... Guess you believe everything you read in the zone....OMG Really

Lets see how McCarthy does this year than start judging him....jeeeze people

7-9, 4-7-1 (before being fired) and then 6-10 n His last 3 seasons as a HC...

Just to add a little context and show the trend ain't necessarily upwards.

But hey, winning championships ain't the thing in Arlington anyways, lol.

Go Big Mike!!

PS. I'm not a Garrett groupie either, lol

Tom Landy record before he was fired....7-9.. 7-9 and 3-13 Really people....

I am glad Garrett is gone...he had more than enough time to win with this team. Sometimes it takes a new start elsewhere to get over the hump. Tony Dungy couldn't win in TB, got over the hump in Indy. Gruden couldn't win in Oakland, goes to Tampa and wins with Dungy's team. Belichick sucked in Cleveland, is a God in NE.

McCarthy doesn't excite me in the least bit. He just doesn't seem like a very dynamic person, which is what I want running my team.

Quinn has me excited. It seems the defense is buying into what he is selling. They could make a huge turnaround.

100%, it's definitely one of Jerry's biggest blunders! I tend to form my opinion on facts, so anyone already labeling Big Mike a bust like Garret was is not reading the fine print. I have no issue giving a more substantial opinion on Big Mike after full training camp and season, but I have to stand in laughter at the ones already comparing mike to a dead possum in an attic! Once you back yourself into a corner with nut rolling opinions, you will end up looking like a complete idiot trying to defend em.. All you have to do is look at guys who shall go nameless that are the first to slam Prescott even though he is proving to be among one of the top Qb's in the game.

I haven't given up on MM, but some of the stuff he said before being hired seems to be untrue now. His use or lack of analytics comes to mind. He sold himself as a film junky that was going to give us a competitive advantage.

In fairness covid and injuries had a massive impact on the year. Im giving him another season before I can make a true judgment.

Jason Garrett was on the Giants team that played in the super bowl vs the ravens in 2000.

So technically Garrett has been in a super bowl in the last 25 years.

and none of what you said changes how bad he was during games making decisions last season. He was awful as was the rest of the staff.

I very excited that he's gone. I never liked him as a coach. I thought he was given that position on a silver platter and never deserved it. One of the worst coaches Dallas ever had even worst than Campo.

This is the problem with Jerry. He has his favorites. And the only reason why Garrett ever became a head coach was because of Jerry.

Kellen Moore actually knows how to call plays and is not some dumb robot like Garrett.

Garrett all he did was dive up the middle on 1st and 2nd and short passes to Witten.

2020 version of me at this time - "Absolutely!"
2021 version of me right now - "Nope, we still suck."
To be fair, most any team would suck considering what we endured through the season. My biggest concern going forward is D line play, and the still glaring hole in OL depth.
