I guess it's how you take a comment like that. I take it like he was happy and learned to accept his talent and stop pushing it. At this moment no one knows. When my 23 year old niece was murdered in a burglary gone wrong, many people jumped to conclusions and then felt like idiots when the truth came out. She was just asleep in her apartment when two guys broke in. Turns out the were stoned and got the wrong place. I just wish Gil had waited a bit or been more sympathetic.

Well said snd sorry about your niece!

That one is definitely upcoming. I'm learning what types of wood pairs well with different flavors when smoking the meats.
So far pecan is just generally a good choice for just about everything, but I might try a fruit wood like apple on a jerk spiced.
Get your hands on a pear tree.

Hold on. Full stop.

If what Mr. Gil Brandt said turns out to be true (the way Dwayne Haskins was always living on the edge or even getting run over and killed for jogging on a highway), how can anyone blame Mr. Brandt for saying what he said?

Gil should have taken your advice and made a "full stop" before he opened his mouth here.

A man literally just died and you choose to say "he was living to he dead"?

Plus the rest of his comments are just as stupid and out of touch as he is. Oh please do tell how his whole life and behavior and personality would have been soooo different if he had stayed at college one more year? Gtfoh.

Because in this day and age you're not supposed to tell the truth.

Lol he didn't say anything that's true. I guarantee no one who actually knew Haskins and was around him would agree he was "living to be dead" or that just one more year of being at college would've completely changed his life. Stupid.

I have 31 years in law enforcement, and I'm still active. I guarantee you I have seen and can handle everything you have seen and much more. But at the end of the day no one will care. So what? Thats not what this topic is about.

In regards to Brandt, I would have chosen to say nothing at all and left it at that. I'm not going to hop up on a box and shout my displeasure or praise his comments either. It was tragic what happened and I will just leave it there. Without the details from an investigation it is impossible to pass judgement. I don't think this is like a case of someone trying to get selfie on the edge of a cliff and stepping a half an inch too far.

Law enforcement? Medical Examiner's office? EMT or Paramedic?

Did EMT stuff in the USAF. Medical examiners office throughout my 20's and early 30's.
