now you know with the fo and coaching staff why this team does win in the nfl and hasn't won for over twenty years the qb situation was mishandled last year and now we have lost a very good qb that may take another team to a superbowl

I am no Jerry hater. I honestly don't have the vitriol for him that some Cowboys fans have.

And while I don't think Stephen Jones is the greatest thing since sliced bread, I cannot wait until he has to put his father in a nursing home and this organization is no longer tied to the whims of Jerry.
I equate that to being killed with a knife or a gun..I don't want to die either way. Neither JJ or Stephen are capable of building a championship team IMO.

This would be an epic failure on Jerry Jones' part, and a big detriment to the Cowboys organization.
Is this Jerry or Stephen? At least Jerry has some good trades on his resume. What does Stephen have? He gets played every time we swap picks in the draft. He's supposed to be this great negotiator but everytime I see him on the draft cam, he's biting his nails and sweating like a pig.

Front Office failure, if true.

Honestly, I don't get this. Everyone who looked at the situation knew the endgame. Dallas' FO had no leverage and thus was never going to be able to extract a price for Romo. The other players (Den, Hou, KC) knew that if they simply did nothing the game would eventually come to them and they could get Romo without having to give up anything.

While I would have loved to have kept Romo it was neither realistic, nor in the organizations best interest, to do so for cap reasons.

Again, everyone knew that so the endgame is hardly surprising.

....and yet some people are upset and chalk it all up to the failure of the FO.

Its like reason is detached from the thought process of some.

The book is out on Dallas and Jerry. Dallas is limited in cap space so they need whatever space they can get. Jerry will not screw over a player of Romo's stature and history of the team. People thinking Dallas would hold on to Romo until some needy team came knocking were fooling themselves. Jerry doesn't do that. He's going to give Romo a chance to get a good deal.

So screw the Cowboys then.

They're supposedly signing TJ Lang and Ron Leary.
With the way that OL played and his injury history, they are going to have to do more than that. It wasn't QB play that did them in last year. Siemian actually played better then Brock did. That team was built to win with Manning and started getting old. They started a decline all across the board. Defense was still very good but fell off from its 2015 level. It will fall off more now that Phillips is gone. Running game is non existent, and Lang and Leary are more more known for pass blocking. They will ask Romo to be volume passer behind a still suspect OL, in a division with Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa/Melvin Ingram, Justin Houston/Tamba Hali/Dee Ford.

Dont like his odds of finishing ahead of Oakland or KC, and dont like his odds of staying healthy. But hey, if thats what he wants.

If he is smart, he will go to KC or Houston.

I don't know how much involvement Stephen has in this area at all. And I'm not aware of too many good trades Jerry's has on his resume. Herschel Walker was all Jimmy.

It's Jerry. I believe it was reported that Jerry was making the call on Romo.

I think you overrate Jerry's trades and underrate what Stephen has done. Let's note that as Stephen has gotten more say, our drafts have slowly gotten better. It was Jerry who would have drafted Manziel if he didn't have Stephen sitting there next to him telling him he's out of his mind.

Man, reality of Romo no longer being a Cowboy is starting to hit. I'm so thankful for not only what he did to the Cowboys, but me as a fan. He made my love for the Cowboys grow immensely. I'll always have love for Romo and whatever team he's on next year, will be my second team.

Dak has some big shoes to fill, but I think he'll outgrow them ;)

Guys, I love Romo as my as anyone, but he's going to be a 37 year old quarterback who has missed a huge number of games the last two seasons. Sometimes treating your vets well reaps rewards more valuable than a late draft pick.
This franchise has been playing nice with the league, malcontents, free agents, vets, etc the last two decades, what have we reaped for such benevolent behavior?

It's the cut throat team in New England that treats their players like interchangeable parts and sucks every last resource out of them that has been winning at will.

We will be the laughing stock of the league if we let Romo go without compensation.

It's hard to get something for a guy when no one was probably offering anything to us because they knew we'd be releasing him

I like the headline "barring a strong trade offer".

I would take anything rather than be exposed as a weak organization that panders to its players.

Who is everyone knew?? I will give you that everyone knew Jerry would do something stupid to screw over his own team to help out Romo.

I'll give you that.

La Canfora is not exactly the guy you'd expect to hear this from.

We'll see what happens. The fact that we're looking hard at McKown suggests it could be imminent. Letting him go for nothing but goodwill would hurt the team. But it is the kind of thing that Jerry would do.
