No matter how it plays out, it's going to be ok for Dallas from a players' perspective. Teams do get reputations for how they handle players. Those reputations might not mean much at crunch time if the money is not there, but we've gotten sweetheart deals in the past from players like Tyron Smith because of how the organization treats its players. It's a mistake to give away an asset for nothing, but the pain is in missing out on the pick. The perception is actually a positive.

Finally, someone gets how the Cowboys operate. Always remember the "DoRight" rule. Tony gave us 14 years and Jerry is doing the right
thing here.

No one is going to trade for that contract. Why would they?

Because they wouldn't likely be trading for that contract. They'd likely talk restructure prior to making a trade. Further, with news that a guy like Glennon might get $15MM a year, having Romo at $14MM might seem like a bargain.

And yet there are other organizations that make it about the organization first.

New England is cutthroat as can be and that does not damage their "perception".

You don't see them struggling to sign free agents or lock up their own.

Really surprising that they can't even scrape a 5th rounder or something out of one of these teams.

While I think the talk of first round picks and the like were totally overblown and ridiculous, I still think he had some value. To get nothing at all for him definitely seems like a front office screw up.

This just smells simply like Jerry giving one of his pet cats whatever he wants, feeling that he owes it to Romo to let him dictate his own path here.
He does have value.

But Jerry's only concern is taking care of Romo.

So disappointing.

The only way I will feel better is if the Romo being cut news is tempered with a decent FA signing or two.

Damn. Couldn't get a single draft pick for him? Lordy Lordy.

Nahhh. Too busy preparing for our free agency to start 3 weeks after everybody! Have to get those bargains on the bargain players!!!

Jerry and co. are very nice people.

Well, we have that going for us. Which is nice.

Should really help us sign and keep free agents. When we learn how to manage the cap and not use a credit card mentality of course.

I can't wait!
