Short story,

On the previous message board I used to post on. I argued vehemently with other posters that the cowboys should draft Wentz because Romo couldn’t be trusted to stay healthy anymore. Against people who kept saying Romo had plenty of time left and they needed talent to “win now” etc

If another opportunity presents itself to get a QB I am not against it. But I don’t think Dak is done developing yet and still think he can be a good one.

QBs like Wentz are rare. When you have a chance to get one you do it. If you don't do it, every member of your front office and scouting department that was for that decision needs to be fired immediately.

The guy has played in 32 games and has 57 total TD's and only 17 ints and is completing 65% of his passes. The blocking was a shell of what it was last year as was the passing game as a whole and he was still respectable. He had 28 TD's and 13 ints this year. If this is his bad year, sign me up. Get him a receiver that is faster than me and and he'll put up 30 tds, no doubt.

Exactly. Wentz checks every box. The Cowboys coached him for one week at the Senior Bowl so they knew more about him than any other team. Not trading up for Wentz is one of the worst moves in Cowboys history.

Not accuracy, if Dak is gonna get blamed for his lack thereof, so should Wentz. Wentz completed only 60.2% of his passes.

And Zeke only averaged 4.1 ypc this season. Teams didn't respect our run game after he left. The wrs were bad, our OL was bad. The coaching even worse. Dak didn't exactly get much help.
Alfred Morris, and Rod Smith filled in respectfully for Elliott. It wasn't the running game they lost respect for, it was Dak's inability to beat teams with his arm, that was exposed that did this team in.

He may have limited passing ability but he's still above average at the position.

Again.. Average is Blake Bortles. He's way better then Blake Bortles.

He's play a lot more good games then he has bad games.

Dak can run a bad offensive scheme at a high level. Especially when Zeke is going. We were a machine in 2016 and at points this year Dak was playing at a elite level.

If we want to hit our guys out wide more then we need an offensive scheme that doesn't pigeon hole our WR's.

Dak is not a good come from behind QB. He's not going to win a lot of games if he gets in a QB duel but so many of these "top QB's" like Big Ben and Russell Wilson have relied on a strong run game and a incredible defense. Dak can play at their level in that situation.

Is he Rodgers? No

Brady? No

He's not that level of passer but few guys are.

Someone like Derek Carr who has the talent still can't manage to get results like Dak.

Winston? He's got a lot of talent but he can't play at Daks level.

Kirk Cousins? Would you take Cousins over Dak? Has Cousins ever beat Dak?

I just don't get the Dak hate.

Atlanta our coaches blew it.

Denver our defense put him in a situation that he isn't ready for.

He's still a 24 year old QB and who is off to one of the best starts in NFL history at his position.

Yes i'd take cousins over Dak all day. Not the entire skins team but swap those 2 qb's and you'll have a scary team. Cousins has had to win games with little help. I didn't say I hate Dak but i'm not a fan of his passing game, not now not 2016, probably not 2018 untill he proves he is capable. You say we run a bad scheme but I say any scheme that was top 10 out of 13 years with the former qb and little run game can't be all bad. When our run game is good we are atleast competitive....but when it wasn't performing we really struggled to get the offense going.

Respectfully as in not stacking the box to stop them. As for his arm, it would help if the recievers could run a route and get open.

2 seasons..Averages 28.5 TD.s and 8.5 ints. Stop it! You guys were spoiled by a QB that new the offense so well, he could change half of the routes on the fly, because he knew the plays called weren't going to work. Instead of having to have an OC as a QB, how about we get an OC that can make adjustments and have a friggen ounce of creativity!?!?! Dak is not the problem!

Considering he came from an FCS school I think you are overdramatizing! Name another FCS school QB, or Division II when they were that, who were taken in the top 10 picks in the last 20 years.

Then, after that, how many were stars?

Here is the list for you......40 years

Year Pick Name School QBR
1978 17 Doug Williams Grambling 69.4
1979 7 Phil Simms Morehead St 78.5
1995 3 Steve McNair Alcorn State 82.8
2008 18 Joe Flacco Delaware 84.7

I seem to remember you pimping Goff hard before the draft.

Getting open is relative to a QB's accuracy. This is the NFL no one really gets open unless there is a break down in coverage.

I am a Cal alum so Goff was my guy initially before the draft process. I thought he was a safe pick. However, once I started to research Wentz I became enamored with his upside. Since the Cowboys coached Wentz for one week at the Senior Bowl I was 100% ok with them taking Wentz over Goff. I thought Wentz had an Andrew Luck level upside but he had far less experience so he was a riskier pick than Goff. From what I remember he only started playing QB in his senior year of high school after his sudden growth spurt from 5'8" to 6'5. He also only started 23 games in college at the FCS level. Since we still had Romo I thought Wentz could develop for 2 years sitting behind Romo. The fact that Wentz is already this good in his 2nd season is amazing based on his limited experience playing QB. I just don't understand how the Cowboys can coach a guy like Wentz for one week and not aggressively try to trade up for him. The Cowboys were the only team that got to "test drive" Wentz.

Where were you when Dal had 1 TD in 3 games?

Where were you when Dak set the record for worse run by cowboys QB?
