If I'm Jerry I'd say "hey David, show me some love in the playoffs and Ill sign you to a huge contract next year".

Then, after the last game, cut his arse.

I know some fans have been holding out hope that the team has been holding David Irving back as some sort of secret weapon for the playoffs. He obviously didn't play this weekend.

It has been reported that his injury isn't issue at this point. From a team perspective, he has obviously let his team down over and over.

Are there some here that still hold out hope that he will be a part of the Cowboys plans in the future?
We have a couple of guys playing some good football in the middle. Not sure I would upset the Apple cart unless he plays situationally (yes, I remember what an absolute monster he can be).

I have no expectation from Irving but evidently the Cowboys do as he remains on the active roster. At this point I would just as soon they move on and bring in someone from the practice squad

I hope he can play in the future. But I know it's not going to happen

It’s funny when the homers can’t accept bad news. Like when they couldn’t accept that Escobar was a wasted draft pick. Or they couldn’t accept that Rolando McClain chose Purple Drank over football. Or when Kyle Orton and Jay Ratliff screwed the team over and still kept the money. Or this. They can’t accept that Irving doesn’t care about football.

Time to let him go this offseason.

There's no point anymore with this guy. I was hoping he'd be back by late season, we could get him on a real cheap contract and go from there for 2019. But at this point, he's a lost cause.

The ironic part of all of this? Tyrone Crawford has caught more crap from fans over the years than Irving and Crawford has been a very solid and productive player.

Are we talking about David Irving or Randy Gregory? Asking for a friend.

There is a difference between low expectations and refusing to believe the guy could turn his life around. The bottom line is none of us know the real issues involved.
That’s the issue
What is the real deal with him
I have no clue but the team does
We will see this off season what it was and what the team thinks about it
If it’s substance issues it wouldn’t surprise me if they don’t give up on him
If it’s attitude type issues he’s likely done here

Has he even practiced at all? The notion he could play this weekend seems pretty far fetched at this point. That's just Garrett being Garrett.

Not going to lie I hope he plays cause his impact is huge. He’s one of our top 3 defenders when he’s on the field.
That may have been true at one point but no longer. I am pulling for the guy to get it together and return because honestly, why wouldn't I? Top 3 though? Over which 3 of Jaylon, LVE, Lawrence, B. Jones, Gregory?

What issues do you have that keep you out of work for half a year?

Actually I never think about him being on the team until I see his name in some thread on here.
I don't mind, it, as then I know he is still around in some capacity.

But I don't want him released, only because there is a chance we can get a comp pick for him.
Let him test FA, and even if we get a 7th round, it is better than nothing.

Other than that I really don't care if he stays or goes, but if he stays, it better be a cheap team friendly deal.
As the way the defense has been playing, does anyone still think that he would be that big of a difference at this point.

He hasn't even shown up for meetings. And nobody can use "injury" as their excuse for that. If it's "family issues"? He's had a year to sort those out. Hasn't happened. If it's "injury"? No excuse to not attended meetings or games. If it's "addiction"? Go to rehab and make the effort to break the cycle. But the fact is that none of these things are happening, because the guy is a screwup who doesn't care enough to do any of it.

I think he's more a non-plan for the future. I don't know if it's an ankle issue but it's definitely a head issue. Words travel through it from ear to ear without stopping to be digested. It's like his brain fails to digest the implications and it poops out the words undigested:facepalm:

I think the comp pick theory is as good as any for why the team hasn't released him already. They'll let this play out and see if anyone else is willing to take on this headache. If someone does, the Cowboys would at least get something for their troubles.
