The best thing to happen to Taco since his arrival in Dallas?

Trysten Hill.

That walking mound of pizza dough makes Taco look like Harvey Martin by comparison.

Yeah, I've been defending him, but I'm about done. I think he simply has the wrong demeanor. I'll take Jackson, Jelks, Wise, and Armstrong, thank you!!!!!

He had one sack, and I think, if I remember it correctly he was not blocked on that play. How is that considered average as a pass rusher?

Hell I might be able to sack the QB at 54 if I was unblocked and the QB held the ball like statue.
Average as a player, not a pass rusher.

He plays the run decently and he keeps containment for the most part. That is kinda what an average DL does.

He is not a pass rusher specialist and never will be. Now is a player like that worth a first? Legit debate to have.

Only if he disrupts like Olivier Vernon or Antonio Smith.

Not a Marinelli fan.
Marinelli, like many things in Dallas, is a great idea but is overrated in reality.

The idea of an ex-quarterback, Ivy League-educated, well spoken leader of men being your head coach.

The idea of risk-taking, check-writing maverick General Manager.

The idea of a veteran, grizzly defensive line coach who players love to play for. He may be that, but what has he ever done to make anyone think he's qualified at evaluating talent? Coaching it? Sure. Coaching it two decades ago? Absolutely. Talent evaluation? I think people are just assuming he's great at it.

I hated the pick from day one. I like what I see from Joe Jackson, whose selection I loved in the fifth. Get what you can for Burrito & call it a bust. Move on with athletes who actually want to hustle & make plays.

Marinelli Draft picks since 2014 on the DL ( only considering players picked in the first 5 rounds)

DLaw - great pick
Randy Gregory - bad pick in round 2. Failed his NFL combine drug test and nothing has changed
ryan russell - bust
Charles Tapper - bust
M Collins - decent NFL player
Taco - looking like a bust
Dorrance Armstrong - hasn't played much
Tristen Hill ? not looking good
Joe Jackson ??

Was also partly responsible for saving Jerry and Dallas from drafting Sharif Floyd and ending up with Frederick instead.

3 year rule.

If he can't make the team that's another thing entirely. But, this is the year. Gotta bleep or get off the pot.

Yeah, he wanted Sylvestor Williams instead. lol Big improvement. o_O
The war room melted down when Denver picked him ahead of us. Freddie was never the first round target. We had a second round grade on him and tried desperately to trade out of that spot.

He will be ok. Maybe just not where he was selected and expected to be.

Not defending him, kind of bring sarcastic and sting, it least that was a saving grace.

We had Frederick before Williams based on how I’m reaching the charts. Frederick was the Target Romo and Callahan wanted.. and Floyd seemed to be projected way higher than Marinelli valued him. Not sure where he valued Sheldon Richardson, but we valued him as a FO lower than Floyd apparently.

It's like Taco is two years behind, when he should've been getting consistent pressure his rookie year.

All we can tell from the leaked board is how the cowboys graded players by round and within position groups. You can't see the actual 1-32 ranking. We only know sharif floyd was the #5 guy on our board from media quoting sources in the room.

That was the draft where the scouts and coaches were not on the same page. The scouts had Sharif Floyd #4 overall and Marinelli disliked the player. So, when the pick rolled around and the #5 guy on our board was still there at #18, there was a lot of obvious debate and pissed off looking faces. It was embarrassing for the organization and Jerry subsequently banned live streams while the cowboys are the clock.

But the draft did give birth to Will McLay in his current role. He was in charge of ironing out the dysfunction.

Marinate being right about Sharif definitely doesn't give him a pass for all the crapp selections!!!!!

Wonder if he was on board for the Mo tradeup?

That was a year earlier than his arrival in Dallas. But, I wouldn't begrudge him a bad CB selection b/c his area of expertise is supposed to be the DL. There is no excuse for all the JAGS we have on the DL after 7 drafts. The Tristen Hill pick is baffling.

I don't remember any connection to the Cowboys wanting Sylvester Williams.

There were rumors that they like the WR drafted before Frederick, but I don't recall the link to Williams.
