Right but it is a better option than both Cooper and Dak being fas and only having 1 franchise tag

Anything is a better option than them becoming FAs. But signing a guy is always a better option than a Transition tag. Don't confuse it with a franchise tag. They are not the same. All you are doing with a TT is signing your guy to the highest possible contract. Better to just sign him unless you think it would be cheaper to test the market.

Dak should buy Eli Apple a nice bottle of wine because after Dak torches him tonight his asking price will only get higher.
ARIA what’s up bro. I think your right. He will burn him up. I see Cooper helping early and if we get ahead we will try to limit him before any injury gets worse. I see Cobb having a big game. Smith might get some action. But we are going to drive Elliot down there throats. This will be a game we see our O-Line get very very physical and beat a team down by the 4th quarter.

No one is confusing anything. But based on the context of the article and Dak not being close. Both he and amari look to be willing to play the year out. If that happens, having another tool helps. Of course you would rather just sign them. That's obvious but it takes two sides to make a contract.

I said before the season started that the Cowboys shouldn't sign Dak. If Dak proves he can lead this team to a NFC Championship appearance and a Super Bowl, then more power to him. Give him his money.

I wanted to wait this year even if it costs us more. But then again, neither the Joneses or Dak asked me.

I, for one, don't have a problem with Dak betting on himself.

No way there is another QB brought in no matter who the HC is. If there is a change then it will be Richard or even Moore taking over for JG as they will move him to the FO. Dak will be signed. And hind sight is fun. If they knew Dak was going to look this good (I do think they knew with a healthy O-Line there was a good chance) they would have signed him in the offseason.

I don't see them removing Garrett and keeping the assistants. We have a good season, they're all back for 2020, if not, they're all gone. Garretts going nowhere if we win - he'll take the credit and big payday. If the season starts to go badly wrong its inconceivable that they'll promote an inexperienced assistant from a losing team to HC.

Whatever Zeke got, Dak should get more.QB should make more than any RB. If that doesn't work for the Jones boys then they should've thought about it before paying a RB eh.

I hope they do not sign him. If he gets paid $40,000,000 a year or more.... They will have no money to field a competitive team around him. Dak has proven that even if one thing is missing than he is not a good QB.

It is just greed. Call his bluff. Let him go to the Raiders or Bengals and pay more in state taxes and have less endorsements. He should feel grateful, happy, & honored just to be playing for the Dallas Cowboys. I am tired of these greedy athletes.

Hahahahahahahaha dude's made 400k a year from his contract and you're calling him greedy? Greedy would have been holding out the moment they let go of Romo and he had the team by the balls.

**** of here with this nonsense.

I’d love to know the hold up.

This shouldn’t be hard now that Wentz and Goff have signed. There’s the range.

Yep. The Cowboys couldn't have signed Dak earlier because he wouldn't have signed. With the agent he signed with they were never going to give an early discount.
Sad but true. It's all about seeking top overall pay.

Looks like Dak and Zeke planned this out .

I agree that should be the range if he signs now.

It sounds like Dak is willing to risk waiting, in an attempt to increase his value. It’s risky as heck on his part but if he keeps playing well his value will be even higher in the off season.

And, if we’re all being honest, this is EXACTLY how this whole process should’ve played out. No matter what side of the Dak argument you are on, it seems we all were wanting the same thing - to see Dak prove how good he is on a consistent basis. Keep playing like he has, he’s gonna be paid TOP QB $$$. Falls off? Then he won’t. It’s that simple.

Nailed it.....play it out

Cowboys would be wise to get Dak signed before KC does a new contract for Mahomes who will become the highest paid player in teh NFL, most ever guaranteed and prolly in the neighborhood of 8-10 years.

Good, let's see him keep doing it before we do anything. There is absolutely no need to hurry on a new deal, we have nothing to lose.

Whether you like it or not, quarterbacks are judged by different standards than other players on a team, ESPECIALLY if you play for the Dallas Cowboys.
Don't like it? Request a trade.

Dak is fine signing a similar deal to Wentz and Goff but the Cowboys want him to sign for 7 years instead of 4. Dak wants more per year if he's signing for seven years.
