What do you think has to happen for UNC to make it? Does a 1-loss non-champ Ohio State make it over a 1-loss ACC Champ who just beat Clemson? Also, curious to see what would happen if a 2-loss Florida won the SEC and a 2-loss Stanford won the Pac 12. Would both conferences not send anyone to the playoffs?

Both the two loss teams are behind Ohio State, I think.
If UNC beats Clemson--not at all out of the question--then you nailed it as far as the big question being between them and the Buckeyes. Ohio St might still get the nod based on SOS...though UNCs will have improved greatly after playing NC State and especially Clemson.

I guess a one loss Iowa or Clemson team might feel they have a claim, but I doubt it.

Clemson, Iowa, and Alabama probably wish they had the luxury of not having to play that extra game vs a top 10 foe.
Eventually, they need to fix the disparity. Then again, OU did have to play everyone in their conference. They look like a team that could win it all, actually.

Assuming the top 6 in the next rankings will be
Clemson
Alabama
Oklahoma
Iowa,
Mich St
Ohio State

I wonder who's next.
Stanford
Florida St
UNC?

I think 2 loss ND before FSU, and I wouldn't be surprised if UNC hops FSU

Likely Stanford, Baylor and MSU if Iowa beats them all stay above FSU.

FSU has no quality wins except this shell of Florida which may not be top 25 if it gets rolled by Bama in the SEC CG.
FSU isn't bad they just haven't had much chance to prove it.
The ACC is really bad after Clemson and FSU this year. And FSU plays Florida but it's other 3 non conf games this year are a joke of Baylor proportions.

grier not being there the first half of the season will hurt them...
and they have to play @ doak, which is good for the noles..
will be a tough game though.

as quiet as it is kept, the sec schedules are regularly soft as charmin before they play the big dogs.
florida has unt, kentucky, umass, vandy. week 4 is against Tenn at their place which is modereately dificult and weak 6 at home versys LSU is tough.

but a 1 loss Florida getting Grier back could make the CFP winning the SEC.
They ONLY current top 20 team thay play on the road all next season is FSU... pathetic. SEC SEC SEC.

I noticed Saban going for it on 4th down late in the game, rather than punting

Last year, people said the Big 12 lost out because they don't have a Conference Championship Game. Well, this year, it works to their advantage as Oklahoma has, for all intents and purposes, clinched the playoffs right now - and are really the only team that can say that.

It will be very clean for the selection committee if Clemson and Alabama win next week. Throw in the Iowa/MSU winner and there's your final 4. But if Clemson and/or Alabama loses, let the arguing begin! :D

EDIT: And OU is likely going to the Cotton Bowl - glad I already got my tixx. :D

Ole Miss & FSU kicks off the season in Orl Next Year.
I know the Noles were trying to get Auburn to start the year the following season... but I think Auburn balked.

What happens if the SEC Champion has 2 losses? Florida can get their 2nd loss of the season today against FSU, and then they could go on to beat Alabama in the championship. Does Florida make it over some 1-loss team like Notre Dame/Oklahoma or does the SEC not get in?

The Florida "we needed a late fg to beat Vandy and OT to beat 2 win FIU" Gators aren't beating Bama, so the question is moot.

The new playoff rankings aren't out yet but the AP rankings are and it looks like this:

1. Clemson
2. Alabama
3. Oklahoma
4. Iowa
5. Michigan State
6. Ohio State
7. Stanford
8. North Carolina

Here's how I see the 4 playoff spots shaping out:

1) Oklahoma is definitely in. There would've been a little doubt if Notre Dame won, but they didn't so that solidifies one playoff spot.

2) The other definite is the winner of Iowa vs Michigan State is in.

3) Florida lost their shot at the playoffs by losing to FSU, so the third playoff spot belongs to Alabama if they win. If they lose, I think the spot goes to Ohio State.

4) The last spot is interesting. Clemson gets it if they beat UNC. But if UNC wins, does it go to UNC (a 1-loss ACC champ) or Stanford (a 2-loss Pac 12 champ)? I'm gonna go with UNC on this one. If the AP poll is similar to the playoff polls that'll be released later tonight, then I think a win over the #1 team in the country is enough to jump UNC ahead of Stanford who will have a win over the #24 team in the country (USC). Long story short, I'm gonna go ahead and say that the ACC Champion will be in the playoffs. That means Stanford lost their shot by losing 2.

At one time, and some still say this, he was Considering being the HC of WVU before they hired Holgerson.
He has WV ties and this was before Bowden finally retired (or was forced to retire lol).

However I think Jimbo is a loyal person to and was going to honor the HC in waiting when Bowden was going to retire even though I think that went on longer than he was thinking it would.

I also think that there was a serious offer made to him by LSU this time around. And maybe he considered it enough to make some in LSU start the floating rumor that Les was gone...So much s that even Les thought he was a goner as he said the A&M was going to be or could be his last at LSU.

Somewhere in there Jimbo decided to stay aft FSU. Maybe out of loyalty or maybe LSU would not pony up some crazy amount that would force him to leave. Could be a little of both especially with the buyout of Les Contract and and Jimbo's.

I just know that it was in the works for about a week and bang it was shut down during the third quarter of a game. I think they said if we ccan't get Jimbo we are not going to chance it with the big pay out of les' contract and no guarantee of another top coach in the wings.
