Saw this on another website. I think it is equally offensive to all teams, so hopefully no one takes it too seriously. :D

You are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts. Notre Dame has 2 wins over currently ranked teams. Notre Dame beat Navy, who is currently #16 and that is Navy's only loss. They also beat Southern California.

OU's only win against a currently ranked team is #10 Baylor (Baylor's only loss), but Baylor really wsn't the #10 team in the nation that night if you factor in all the injuries they had to deal with in that game.

Each team has 1 loss. Notre Dame's loss was by 2 points on the road against the #1 team in the nation. OU's loss was..... well, I don't need to remind anyone of just how humiliating OU's loss was.

USC won't be ranked after today having lost their 4th game. OU plays TCU today and Ok State next week. If they win out, they clearly deserve it over Notre Dame.

How did OU and ND do against their common opponents? Which team's only loss is to the #1 team in the nation by 2 points on the road?

There's absolutely nothing "clear" about it at all. Sagarin has ND's overall strength of schedule as tougher than OU's. But there is still a lot of football left for a whole bunch of teams to figure things out.

We know the top 2 this week will be Clemson and Alabama.
I would put undefeated Iowa in the top four until they (or if they) lose a game.

But after that, there's an awful lot of fairly equally deserving one loss teams. If bias is removed, it'll be hard to chose that 4th spot.

Fortunately, there are a couple more weeks of elimination games felt to help us decide.

One lose teams that have various degrees of a shot at the final 4 if they win out and, in some cases, other teams lose:

  • Notre Dame (must beat Stanford, and imo, maybe have OU lose)
  • Oklahoma (must beat Ok St...then maybe in..harder without title game)
  • Michigan St (must beat Penn St and then Iowa in Big 10 title game)
  • Baylor (maybe if beat TCU and UT...maybe)
  • Florida (must beat FSU then Bama in the SEC title game) They have a great forward schedule to leap other teams
  • Ohio St (must beat Mich and have PSU beat Mich St, then must beat Iowa in the Big 10 Title game)
  • North Carolina (must beat NC St then Clemson in the ACC title game and others lose)
  • Oklahoma St (must beat Ok and everyone else lose)
  • Navy? ( prob no chance...but had a great season)

OSU and Mich play... MSU plays PSU

can't forget the crazy MSU v Mich game from earlier this year.
OSU road needs a lot of losses

Had a feeling ND would get leap-frogged based on their opponent and they did.
But they helped them some by moving Stanford up in to the top 10
The top 5 probably control their destiny. One for sure will lose. If two lose it'll really open tings up.

Here's the new Playoff Rankings
  1. Clemson
  2. Alabama
  3. Oklahoma
  4. Iowa
  5. Michigan St
  6. Notre Dame
  7. Baylor
  8. Ohio St
  9. Stanford
  10. Michigan
  11. Oklahoma St
  12. Florida
  13. Florida St
  14. North Carolina
  15. Navy
  16. Northwestern
  17. Oregon
  18. Ole Miss
  19. TCU
  20. Washington St
  21. Miss St
  22. UCLA
  23. Utah
  24. Toledo
  25. Temple

Another one loss team is out....down goes Baylor in 2OT at TCU.

If ND loses at Stanford and
OSU beats OU
Ohio St beat Mich
Mich St beats Penn St
, we very easily could end up seeing two Big Ten teams (Ohio St and winner of Mich St/Iowa) in the final 4.
ewwww

Or did they insert the conf. champs only qualifier?

Mayfield is incredible with intangibles. He has insane levels of swaggfer and belief.
That swagger and belief can work against him and he can get too fired up.
See UT game.
Athletically, he is just not near Romo in the arm department but has plenty for a college QB.

The more realisitc comparision is Johnny Manziel.
He has been taking less chances since that UT loss and OU is getting elite level play from him.

ND is essentially part of the ACC which means one team will get in of Clemson or ND.

The committee wants to force everyone into nice little boxes and ND is part of the ACC in their eyes.

Sagarin ranks OU second in the country so a terrible example for you to use.

If OSU beat OU, there's a very high probability that the Big 12 is left out again.
If OU wins. I think they're in.

The Big 12 will be in regardless of which team is the 1 loss champion.

Sagarin rates them the best conferece in football and any 1 loss champ gets in this year.
The committee won't put in a 1 loss non conf champ over 1 loss P5 champ.

Ohio State probbaly loses today but it won't matter and thus why they probbaly lose as a deflated team.

ND may well be better than Clemson but wasnt a shealthy and lost. That will get Clemson through unless they lose to a sad ACC Coastal team or the wrost SCar team in in a decade. If that happens ND may well get in over Clemson as the de facto ACC champ.

The committee will try to pressure ND into full-time ACC membership imho, much like they used last year as a statement in a Big 12 CG.

We'll see about that.
If OU wins, the point is moot.

If the teams ahead of Ok St win--so no big upsets.
I'd wager they are not in. Maybe if they blow out OU...maybe.
But I'm tired of winning bets with you jt! :muttley:

I haven't looked back to last year, but I'm assuming that you thought for sure Baylor or TCU would be in too. Almost certain you thought that, actually. I think you may have even been saying both could be in.

Anway, if Oklahoma wins I at least do agree with you that, barring some upsets of Clemson or Bama, they will probably get in ahead of ND (assuming ND wins...big if).
