At one time, and some still say this, he was Considering being the HC of WVU before they hired Holgerson.
He has WV ties and this was before Bowden finally retired (or was forced to retire lol).

However I think Jimbo is a loyal person to and was going to honor the HC in waiting when Bowden was going to retire even though I think that went on longer than he was thinking it would.

I also think that there was a serious offer made to him by LSU this time around. And maybe he considered it enough to make some in LSU start the floating rumor that Les was gone...So much s that even Les thought he was a goner as he said the A&M was going to be or could be his last at LSU.

Somewhere in there Jimbo decided to stay aft FSU. Maybe out of loyalty or maybe LSU would not pony up some crazy amount that would force him to leave. Could be a little of both especially with the buyout of Les Contract and and Jimbo's.

I just know that it was in the works for about a week and bang it was shut down during the third quarter of a game. I think they said if we ccan't get Jimbo we are not going to chance it with the big pay out of les' contract and no guarantee of another top coach in the wings.

Yes, he's Loyal.

He had a relationship with Bowden & his family prior to his stint at FSU. I think that kept him in the program, along with the program's loyalty, and willingness to compensate.

The LSU job became unattractive because of how they handled Les in the media. Coaches have relationships, and he was sympathetic towards Les. This may affect any future considerations for LSU (if him, why not me?)

Jimbo's Relationship with FSU is on solid ground. Jimbo and his wife are in the midst of a separation. She is located in Florida. He is extremely close to his kids, leaving would probably mean leaving them.

If Jimbo takes a job in the near future, I think it will be a step forward into the NFL, and Tampa (obviously), & The Dolphins (although not now) are probably the best fits.

Strong move by the dawgs. I'd be curious to see the recruiting battles, even with some of the athletes Bama has verbals from this year.

Savannah is a beautiful city btw, one of my favorite southern cities.

Savannah is beautiful. I grew up there. It's a unique place historically. Nick will probably promote from within.

I didn't see the updated playoff rankings until now. I saw some on Sunday that I thought were official but apparently weren't. I see that UNC is #10, behind 2-loss teams like Stanford, Notre Dame and even FSU. I think that might be too far to jump them into the top 4 if they beat Clemson. It looks like they're really trying to get a Pac-12 team in the top 4. I really think any 2-loss teams should be out of it. Stanford beating #20 USC shouldn't make them jump 1-loss Ohio State or even be ahead of 1-loss UNC if they beat #1 Clemson to win the ACC. And Notre Dame shouldn't be anywhere near #8.

The two FBS teams they played this year may be their undoing....(UNC)

Probably right. I still don't think Stanford should make it with 2 losses. The Pac 12 is incredibly weak this year and their win over an overrated Notre Dame caused them to jump up in the rankings.

I have a confession to make. My hawks have made an awful cowboys season manageable. I'm driving to Indy to watch the big 10 championship game and expect to leave 13-0

It's hurting them. They had teams drop out, so they scrambled to fill the schedule.

I do think any team that's in a league that plays that extra game vs a top end team in a league championship game should have some lee-way on playing one FBS team--though zero would be better.
I mean, 13 games that includes 12 D-1 and FBS vs 12 games that also includes 12 D-1 teams are basically the same thing.

A random example would be Baylor. They played 11 D-1 teams and 1 FBS. UNC will also play 11 D-1 teams even though they played 2 FBS teams.

Just for the purpose of sharing the wealth... one should be built in... but two should be frowned upon.

At this time a year ago they were saying that it was a disadvantage for the Big XII to not have a championship game.

http://www.foxsports.com/college-fo...oners-big-12-playoff-wannstedt-podcast-120415

The Audible: Is Oklahoma in the playoff unfair to everyone else?
The Sooners can rest their stars this weekend while Alabama and others put them at risk

Oklahoma will be sitting at home this weekend, its regular-season Big 12 title secured, while other playoff contenders are playing conference championship games.

Should the Sooners have this unfair advantage compared to other playoff contenders?

Dave Wannstedt has a huge issue with the system and explains it on The Audible with Bruce Feldman and Stewart Mandel.

Ya I had the exact same reaction. Last year all the talk was about how the lack of a championship game cost the Big-XII a playoff spot.

4 teams is better than 2, but it still is a system whereby there just aren't enough spots for 5 conferences. I love chaos so I'm rooting for Florida and UNC. Playoff committee dodges a HUGE bullet if all the championship weekend favorites win (like what happened last year).

Yep. I'm curious too. I can really see 2-loss Stanford getting in over 1-loss UNC if they both win their conferences. I don't think it's fair because I think the Pac-12 is pretty awful this year, but I can definitely see it happening.

I am afraid to make any prediction if UNC wins (and right now it looks like there will be no Alabama upset). I keep thinking about TCU being #3, they win by almost 50 points, and drop to #6. It fells like the committee ranks teams for a couple of weeks and then on the final week, they wuss out at putting the team that had been in the top 4 all season long in.

Yep. The TCU situation was a little weird last year. You could argue the Big 12 was left out because two teams won the conference. Then the argument became that Baylor beat TCU so they should make it, but a lot of people thought TCU was the better team and that they should make it. The Big 12 has a clear winner this year. But then again, I wonder what would've happened last year if it was the same exact situation but one of the teams was Oklahoma instead. We all know Oklahoma is one of the historic teams in college football and one of the teams that gets preference, like Notre Dame or USC.
