Im fully expecting Smart to be jettisoned now. Reason being, resigning Smart + using MLE on a big in the offseason will likely push Boston into the tax. Boston wants to stay out of the tax until a Kyrie extention.

OKC apparently in on Smart, which makes sense to me

As a Dubs fan I was hoping we'd make a move on a guy like Alex Len or someone (anyone!) to rid ourselves of ZaZa stinkin' Pachulia.

I swear Kerr is just trolling the league by putting him in the lineup; he has no business being on an NBA court at this point in his career.

So the Lakers get 14 million in expiring contracts AND a first round pick for a marginally bad contract and Larry Nance JR

Is that even real?

Even when I’m on vacation the Lakers won’t let me rest. No biggie it’s cloudy out today. I’m not sure what to think about this trade yet I need time. Is Thomas still a very good player? Does he fit in with Lakers roster and style of play? Cavs gave Lakers 1st or 2nd pick?

At this point Cleveland should just trade Lebron. No Trade Clause be damned.

Dont know how that would work. If it would invoke a crippling trade kicker, or get rejected by the league because its not valid.

If it gets rejected by the league, then just trade him again. **** it, man

Sad to see both Clarkson and Nance go. I went to one of the Cavs forums, and they called these guys trash (Laker players). Obviously, they don't watch the Lakers much. I think Larry Nance Jrs dad has a jersey retired in Cleveland, so his dad should be happy about this.

We get Clevelands 2018 #1 pick. Cool. At the very least, maybe Thomas can get his shot back and help the Lakers make the last playoffs spot.

I'm pretty confident Lakers will now resign Randle in the offseason. Which I wanted.

Clarkson's contract isn't bad. Its around 25 mill for the next 2 seasons. The guy can play. He has played his best stretch of late (of career). He can score, can play both pg or sg. Nance Jr will help. Gives them more athleticism and a guy who can do the dirty stuff, rebound, play d, get out on the wing.

Its bad for a Cavs team that already has albatross contracts in Tristan Thompson and and JR Smith. They are entering a rebuild as soon as Lebron leaves, at which point Clarkson becomes far less valuable to them. He is a usefull player, but he doesnt move the needle for them this year.

They did the Lakers a huge favor as far as cap flexibility and gave them a first round pick for the honor. They should think about a buyout with IT though. As cancerous as he has been in Cleveland, I dont know if you want him around the young guys there. He is under 7 million so it wouldnt be huge

It probably helps them win now, especially if they can land another PG like George Hill (wikipedia has him as a Cav for some reason).

Yea, they aquired Hill and Hood

The Cavs also just traded for Utah's Rodney Hood. Averaging around 16 ppg. Cleveland has now made a big push for the playoffs. As for Lebron leaving, I think adding those 3 guys is a big plus for him staying. Lakers aren't trading IT (according to Ramona Shelbourne). As being a cancer, he will have fun playing with the Lakers. We play at the fasted pace in the league, which I am sure he wants to do.

Wonder how Lavar Ball feels about this? He said Boston would not be a good fit due to IT :)

Just saw those trades. They also got Hill. I think that helps them in the immediate future. Definitely puts them back on the map in the East, where they had practically faded out. As far as Lebron goes, I think that relationship is too fractured. I think he is done with that front office

Yea, Cleveland is better today than they were yesterday, but will clearly be worse off in the future when Lebron bolts. Not worse off than if they didn't make the moves, necessarily. I don't think giving up a late, protected 2018 first is a big deal, but this likely means Lebron won't stay, which I don't think he would've anyway.

Add the Kings George Hill to the Cavs too. So they have added Clarkson, Nance Jr., Rodney Hood, and George Hill. Wow.

Yea, going all in one more time. Won't make a difference in the finals, but should be the shot in the arm they need to get through the East.

One question I have is "Is switching out 4 peices of your core team too much? Will they gel in time for the playoffs "

However the team makes much more sense to me than before. Much more sound an balanced. I dont know if it gets them out of the East.
