Thought they were talking about the Alabama QB. Since I went to rivals and looked at the alabama football forum and they were blaming the QB there '
Texas is an interesting team; you really do not know who will show up

I was referring to Iowa State vs Iowa. :D

Btw, my daughter goes to UT. Likes it!

My sister-in-law and all her family went to Iowa State. Not that you are me care, but calling them "Iowa" (their biggest rival) would be like calling Texas AM....Texas.
:muttley:
Sorry about that. All Iowans look the same to me. :D

I haven't seen anything out of him so far that indicates that possibility. He is still very young and has time to improve, but he hasn't looked special. He hasn't looked horrible either except for the hair cut. I think he can develop into an NFL QB, but so far I don't see #1 overall pick. And next year he might have a battle to keep the starting job.
He most certainly can be a number 1 pick.
He has the arm strength and mobility.
Texas is weak as water at WR but he's still spinning it well.
He was thumping Bama when he went down.
By HS classification he should be a true freshman right now so the longer-term plan with him and Manning is interesting to be sure.

UT needs to grow up and adapt to 2022 and go get some transfer WRs.
They should be working the bat phones to get Evan Stewart in after the year.

As Jeff George and Jumungous proved, big strong and a cannon for an arm is enough for stupid GMs so saying someone can be a #1 pick is not really saying that much

It always amazes me how many warning signs GMs will ignore if a QB is big tall and has a cannon. the worst busts were all frankly easy to predict to those really looking.

DJ Ulagalei is NOT the answer at Clemson
He occasionally has his moments, but their offense is a shadow of themselves with him starting these last two years with him starting

Syracuse all over Clemson the first half
21-10
Plenty of time, of course

Kind of ironic that Garret Schrader of Syracuse is playing his tail off, and he's from right in Clemson's backyard (Charlotte)

ACC is a little bit like the Big 12 this year in that they have 4-5 top 25 level teams but no true national title contenders

Here's their current rankings

5) Clemson (ACC)
8) TCU (Big 12)
11) Oklahoma St (Big 12)
13) Wake Forest (ACC)
14) Syracuse (ACC)
17) Kansas St (Big 12)
20) Texas (Big 12)
22) N Carolina (ACC)
23 NC State (ACC)

I hear you.

To be fair, Jeff George belongs nowhere near any sentence with J Russell
Akili Smith and Ryan Leaf do....and plenty of others

Sure, George never reached his full potential, but he had a pretty long and solid career.
27,600 career yards is very good....just not star level.

So....Clemson pulled the QB (who had 2 picks and, I think, a fumble) and put in 5-star freshman Cade Klubnick.

Klubnick, from Texas HS power Austin Westlake, has now led Clemson to two TDs and they lead 23-21.
To be fair, they haven't asked him to throw it much. Doing it on the ground.

Changing of the guard?

Indeed because he graduated high school early, but by age he is on the typical track. He turned 19 in March, which is common for a kid who is now in their sophomore year or redshirt freshman year.

Having watched the guy, he was a poor mans Vinny Testeverde

I can agree he was not the momentous busts Jumongus and Leaf were, but I would point out his troubles were apparent from Day 1 and yet the GM was blind to them.

Ewers is totally off target today.
I would put in Hudson Card right now.

While I don't think that highly of Ewers, you can't fault him today. The sustained winds are 22 to 30 mph with gusts over 40. I was hauling rounds from across the road with my tractor and the wind made it an adventure. I can only imagine what it's doing to a football. Btw, Pickens is known in these parts as a big wind tunnel.

Wind isn't an excuse. It's not effecting the OK st QB.

That is some home cooking when one team has zero penalties. Gundy isn't that good of a coach.

Also, bad offensive coaching by Texas. They haven't been able to complete downfield sideline passes all game, but chose to try to convert a fourth down on one.

Sanders practices in it. I doubt Austin has half the wind Stillwater has. Don't get me wrong. I don't think much of Ewers. I doubt he beats out Manning next year. Still, unless you can practice in this prairie wind, you can't prepare for it. I work in it a lot and I've learned tricks to deal with it or I would have lost a few rounds today.

There really is no such thing as morale victories from a tough loss. That loss to Alabama hasn't changed the Longhorns fortunes. They still struggle to win on the road and hold onto leads.
