Better than Hitchens? Unlikely. Better than Jaylon as he improves? Unlikely.

This love affair with Hitchens is hilarious. It has come about because of our absolute lack of talent on defense. Hitchens is a borderline NFL starting LB. He is consistently beat over and over again in pass coverage, and makes occasionally great plays in the run game but is very inconsistent and frequently gets blocked and washed out of plays. He's overrated by people because our linebackers are awful.

Smith is absolutely awful right now. He will certainly get better as he develops, but that could take a couple of years.
