The only positives you can point to this season is the Cowboys were 2-0 with Romo and they''ve had the lead in 6 of their 7 losses. When you lose as many tight games as the Cowboys have they're not that far off from being a good team but 7 straight losses point to issues that go beyond not having Romo. What makes winning out so unlikely is the defense can't make critical stops and it's something we've seen consistently for a number of years with the defense. We saw it in the playoffs last season vs the Packers. It's very discouraging watching the defense get eaten up in the closing minutes of games and in two OT periods. You won't find many if any teams over the past few years that have blown more 4th quarter leads than the Cowboys. Even with Romo on opening day the Cowboys never even held the lead vs the Giants until Romo's TD pass to Witten with 7 seconds left. Romo carried the team to that win that saw the defense get gashed in the final moments only to be saved by a huge clock management gaff by the Giants.

Even with Romo playing well the Cowboys have lost a number of tight games over the years which led to three straight 8-8 seasons. In 2012 Romo had one of the best games of his career shredding the Saints for 4 TD's and over 400 yards and no turnovers but the Cowboys lost by 3 due to the defense not being able to stop Brees. Even 500 yards and 5 TD's by Romo wasn't enough to beat Denver in 2013 mostly due to the defense. Even during last years 12-4 season we saw problems with the defense when they were kept on the field too long and that side of the ball is what ended our season in a tight loss to Green Bay. The Cowboys will improve with Romo due to sustaining more drives this should help the defense some but until the team builds a solid defensive unit that can be counted on in the 4th quarter to make critical stops they'll never be able to achieve their ultimate goal.

The Cowboys QB play the past 2 weeks was good enough to win but the defense consistently folds when games are on the line. Even adding our 2 top draft picks and Hardy hasn't changed the troubling pattern that continues year after year with the defense. Romo can only do so much and if we can't get the running game going it's going to be all on him trying to pull games out. He does have a tendency to try and do too much at times which is very concerning with him just coming off an injury. I know some of you hate hearing honest, candid, truthful opinions but there's no way the Cowboys are going to win out facing Cam Newton who can make plays with his legs, Aaron Rodgers and some of the other QB's they'll be facing if the defense can't make critical stops. The dogfights are going to continue and Romo can't be put in a position where he's having to do it all or he could be injured again.

It's going to be difficult beating the Commanders twice...

It's seem like the "realist" crowd is upset that not everyone is following them down the road in their defeatist attitude.

Yes they are. And I'm going to keep asking them-why bother to post about a team that's done for the year?
Why does it bother them that others have hope or even worse that there's a decent chance we will make the playoffs?
Why do the feelings others have make them upset to the point that they continually protest the hopeful or delusional, whatever term they choose, posts?

You'd think they would at least have an answer to these seemingly simple questions.

My, oh my...my favorite Cowboy's posters clinging on to "hope" that the Cowboys are going to run the table just because Romo came back to throw to Dez. It just is not happening...I wish like all of you that it can happen, but, this season is over...the only remaining games are for entertainment only, no expectations for some miracle should be considered. Just sayin...

I'd be curious if it's ever happened before. Has a team ever lost 7 in a row and then turned around and won 7 in a row? That would seem extremely unlikely.

Good news: there is precedent--the New York Giants.
In fact, they went 2-13, and then won 17 in a row!

Bad news: this was the New York baseball Giants, and it was 100 years ago.
