A Case for Greg Ellis.

Dancing? I don't think so. Good to see you live up to your name Punk

It is dancing. You're wrong, and the excuses for Ellis' lack of production is tired. There are plenty of good pass rushers who provide consistent pass rush (dance) without having any skilled players producing alongside them. If Greg Ellis was that good, he wouldn't need the farcical crutch you've attempted (poorly) to provide.

No lame plays on the user name will change that.

Tell that to guys like Leonard Little, Michael Strahan, Julius Peppers, or the late, great Reggie White.

They somehow managed to do what Greg Ellis couldn't.

And if you'd take nhotice, you've been given plenty of other examples as well.

Bob Lilly made 3 pro bowls in 62,64 and 65 with a combined record of 17-23-2.

What All Pro was Strahan playing across from him when he broke the record with 22.5 sacks? Frank Ferrara or Kenny Holmes?

No but he has 2 guys putting up 6 each with Hamilton and Barrow.

Have you ever noticed that popular players always get the tired "poor supporting cast" excuse when they just cannot graduate to elite status?

By that definition, there are no elite players. Just decent players that are made elite by good support.

But he had George Andrie and Jethro Pugh playing alongside him.

They must have made him.

It is noticeable. Similarly noticeable to how people backed into a corner will make stupid plays on your user name rather than debate. Granted, I've made it easy, but still....

lame.

Emmitt Smith wasn't any good. He had all those all-pro linemen.

Barry Sanders wouldn't have had so many negative plays if he'd have played with a better line.

Tom Brady is a product of a system.

Peyton Manning is a product of an ill-concieved reanimation experiment involving lightning and a used brain.

No but they helped to make the Dallas defense a top defense along with guys like Cole. The help does not need to come from only the other DE but defense can't depend on 1 player to do it all. I guess Lee Roy Jordon and DD Lewis did not help out.

Yep, just like that OL made Emmitt Smith.

Your brain works funny :lmao2:

Me like.

Oh, and Greg Ellis spent 4 years playing alongside one of the best pass rushing DTs of our time.

That certainly helped him blow up.

The man's got alot on his plate right now. The sharks have smelled blood, and they're circling. Plus, there's not really any lame-derogatory references to be made with your user name.

But where is the LB with sack support?

Coakley and Nguyen must have been much worse than we ever thought.

Or, we could just blame Zimmer and his passive schemes.

That works even better.

Whatever justifies those two huge sacks that would have made him money each and every year.

Wait, Parcells benched him in 2005 for Canty in a few games. Blame him too.

Did you want it back already? I told ya it was gonna be at least a week. ;)

Before D. Ware lead the team in sacks in 2006 (he was ahead of Ware before he got injured also), Greg lead the team (or tied) in sacks for years.

He did this in mainly Zimmers read and react scheme. The one everyone is so happy to be rid of.

For those of you that think the scheme makes no difference, lets compare our sack totals this year to last year, after the season is done. heck, lets see how many Greg gets in this new scheme.

L. Glover was a double digit sack artist (I know, as a tackle, but still double digits) before he came here, never sniffed that total while he was here. Guess he just sucked while he played for us ???

I think La Roi had only one year with double digit sacks. Virtually every single sack leader, and usually the top 10, were always DEs, with a few OLBs. No DTs. No matter what the system. Glover was as good a sack man as any DT playing- and throw out that ONE year and he averaged less then Ellis has.

I knew someone would blame Zimmer eventually.

So how can Zimmer's scheme account for those two magical elusive sacks?

That's all.

Two.

Each and every year.

I think it's pretty clear where the anomaly lies.

An 11 year career - with 2 years in double digits. That Zimmer is diabolical! I mean, it's all the fault of the system, right? It can't just be that double digit sacks for a DT is extremely rare, and Glover was a great enough player to manage it twice, which is a great feat?

Nope - it's that dang Zimmer.
