A Touch of Hostility... Week 14

It has been impossible for me to enjoy a football game for several years as this team continues to falter and the fans continue to be upset. Wins or losses it doesn't matter. I haven't enjoyed a game in so long it's hard for me to even remember when it was.

I'm weary of it all.

My feelings mirrored.

I am not conceding. I am just sick of even looking forward to the games. The negativity in here has driven some of my passion for the game right out of me.

Not sure I buy that. Maybe that's the case and somehow a forum has ruined football for you but more than likely I'd say you're suffering from the same thing everyone else is, 10 years of heart ache from having this team raise your expectations only to let you down.

It's probably easier to blame the negativity here, which has been here for as long as I've been on the board than to admit the team itself has made football less fun.

I think the main difference was back in those days, there were less people in the middle. You were either a supporter of Quincy Carter or you weren't.

On the boards these days, there are a lot more people in the middle and there aren't as many lines drawn in the sand.

I wasn't exaggerating one iota. I love this team. I love the game. I love this place. I would like to leave and can't. I don't want to read 90% of the stuff I have to any more. I am sick of being called out because of my passion for this team. I used to dream of finding a way to get a bunch of fans from this team together for a game. Now, I'd prefer to go alone or with one or two friends.

Easier to blame? No, it's a lot harder for me than you can imagine. Sit in my seat for one month (December) and try to enjoy the games. Dealing with the weekly meltdowns is beyond depressing. I haven't enjoyed a win in so long I can't remember it.

Some people here are happy about it. They can't wait to gloat after every mistake or loss. That's what bothers me and it makes the board experience less enjoyable. But I won't let that stop me from coming to The Zone.

I'm actually at the point of being 'numb'-regarding this team. Yeah I still get a little upset or a little happy here and there, but generally speaking, I don't have any faith/confidence in this organization. Of course, I'm still foolish enough to get excited for game day, but when the game actually starts, I kinda feel like I'm just wasting my time.

But this feeling doesn't come from a bunch of fickle fans or eternal optimists. It comes from the fact that the team I cheer for is just not any good. And hasn't been for 13 years. I think it's childish to blame other fans for your inability to enjoy a win. It's not their fault the team sucks...Everyone has a right to say what they want to about team. We're all fans. Even though some aren't as happy as others, we all want the Cowboys to win. And that's why it is so frustrating--for everyone. The team just isn't any good. They don't win. And when they do, it's almost pointless, 'cause they'll lose next week. This general sucky-ness is a long term trend that doesn't appear to be getting any better.

I suppose we're all supposed to just sit around and sugar coat the obvious until the end of time. I suppose we should just absorb every disappointing late season loss as if it were a mirage. We're supposed to just turn a cheek at the obvious deficiencies in the coaching department and the loser environment that is rampant at VR. I see where you're going. I actually thought this year was going to be different. Getting rid of the locker room problems and making these 53 individuals buy into the team concept. But its the same every year. I'm pretty much burned out because both of my sports teams have been pissing me off this year. I know there is still three games left for us but i just don't feel confident in this team at all.

The difference I see Mike is that in the days of Q vs. Hutch the rest of the team was almost off limits. Now we have people who hate even our best players. Campo wasn't popular but now we have a coach who is clearly better (I'm still not a fan) and an OC who is one of the best in the game and we have 2 dozen threads per week of utter disgust with them.

If QC or Hutch had ever been 1/10 the football players we have in Roy Williams, Tony Romo, DeMarcus Ware, and Jason Witten maybe it would seem as bad. They weren't.

In case you forget, I was the guy who said picking Q or Hutch was like picking diarrhea or constipation. They weren't good. Some of our most discussed players now, actually are.

Thus my belief it is worse.

I don't remember the disgust for Campo being anything close to the disgust for Jason Garrett and Garrett actually gets results.

It took me a longer to start this thread than it normally would. I wanted to have an idea of how serious the injury to Ware was before I even started thinking about this thread.

I want to be honest with you. I am growing weary with a lot of things. It has been impossible for me to enjoy a football game for several years as this team continues to falter and the fans continue to be upset. Wins or losses it doesn't matter. I haven't enjoyed a game in so long it's hard for me to even remember when it was. I try to enjoy the wins and even those are miserable around here.

I can tell you this, it has not been in the month of December that I enjoyed a game. I hate this month of the season. I am sick to death of hearing the pissing and moaning. I am sick that we even have to because once again, December is kicking our teeth in. Screw Santa Claus and his month of greed.

I dread game days and that feeling is so foreign to me that I can't even explain it. I love football. I love football discussions. I love this place. So I keep coming back even though I dread it.

Do you remember when Tony Romo was what was wrong with this team in December? I feel horrible for the guy. Two straight weeks he plays good football, and 2 losses get saddled on him. The thing that truly bothers me is I don't believe we lost to better teams. I think they are about even with us, but we still have gone from in charge of our destiny to the 6th seed with a juggernaut in the horizon coming closer.

I don't believe we can beat the Saints. I have not since about week 6 and we were winning then. Yeah, I know they aren't playing great right now, but we are not motivated enough. The longest current losing streak the Cowboys have against any team is the Saints. We haven't beaten them since 1998 and have lost 5 in a row.

I still think this is a good football team. They are not opportunists though and I have no idea why. I have read every hair brained theory out there and hatched some crazy ones myself. I can't even sell myself any more.

Strange fact of the day. We have played on the Ides of December (December 13th) 9 times after today. We won the first 5. We have lost the last 4. The last three losses on this calendar date have all been by the score of 17-20.

There are no excuses for these losses. I'm not superstitious, but I can't help but wonder what has brought this bad luck.

We left points on the field yet again. We did not execute. Instead we're getting executed. No turnovers, few penalties, and we once again racked up decent yardage. We still can't kick a Field Goal. If we're going to go for it on 4th and goal, don't hand it to the lead back.

This team does just enough to make you love the players, and just enough to make you have ulcers.

I don't know about anyone else, but the loss of Ware hurts more than the game loss to me. I am numb to those in December any more.

I think this loss sealed Wade's fate. I hate to say that, because it isn't really what should determine his future. The media and fans will not be behind him and the team cannot save him. Not even a march in the post season will save him now. It could have for a while, but Jerry cannot gamble any more that guys will fight for him. They fight, but they don't win.

That's the name of the game.

I hate December. This decade has sucked. I'm weary of it all.

Some are cool headed like you and some just are angry when this team loses because both sides care about and love this team. What i am getting fed up with is the lets divide the board into two cliques attitude.

That’s sad that you can’t enjoy the games. It reminds of why i rarely watch the news...gets too depressing. Or just being around negative people is very draining. They sap your energy.

I think many forget that you HAVE to read each one of these stupid threads because of the job. If i see something i don’t like, i can skip it...but you guys can’t.
