A Touch of Hostility

Good advice on the Nyquil.

I do not care to mince words. I am pissed off in this thread. No team, not even your beloved Commanders, are going to get any respect from me in this thread. Get it? Got it? Good.

I am being far more disrespectful to my own team than I am to yours. Get over it or log out.

I know the feeling.

I certainly have no complaints about you attacking your own team. I have been there myself. I only want you and other fans (regardless of teams) to realize and recognize their talents.

aint that our dilema. can't fire the gm, so what is there to do? have the comish suspend him like he did Eddie de Bartolo? works for me. I'm sure there are grounds to suspend jerry with all the outlaws he's brought in over the years.

Right now I am not in the mood to recognize my teams talents, or yours, or anyone's. I just want to be pissed off and I honestly don't care if my labeling the Commanders as pantie wastes offends every Commanders fan who logs into this thread. My advice would be piss on a spark plug so you can forget the pain I am causing you. There is no offense meant. I am simply not in the mood to placate visitors. If I decide to deride the Commanders I will damned well do it how I please. Right now I am satisfied with pantie wastes.

Why is that, on a Cowboys board, important?

post game thoughts threads. I always wanted to do one and call it "A Touch of Hostility"
Your rant covers the entire season, if not last dozen games from Cupcake & co.

You could have written it after any game post-thanksgiving.

I have no problem with the team assembled. I do not believe there is an owner or honest fan anywhere who wouldn't swap most of our guys for theirs straight across.

My problem is the lack of execution which goes to the coaching staff who I would like to execute. With extreme prejudice.

Ah....perhaps...but again, who assembled the coaching staff?

Wade Phillips can't help being who he is. He wasn't about to say "Hey, Jerry, thanks for the offer but I'm really not gonna be a taskmaster and I don't think I'll be good for the job. So, I'm declining the offer"

As far as the players are concerned, I might have to disagree with ya a bit. I'm a Yankees fan. The teams of the late 90's had nothing but gritty, hard nosed guys. There weren't a lot of stars, future hall of famers, etc. on those rosters. But they were light years better than the soft teams of the next decade, even though they were clearly not as "talented"

Torre and Wade Phillips have very similar personalities. That same laid back approach didn't work when Torre had a more talented roster laden with super stars but also a roster than didn't have the edge the earlier ones did.

Yep, physical skills, straight up..this is a talented team. But there's more than physical skills.

If a really smart person acts in a really stupid manner because he or she simply isn't mature...or balanced...it really doesn't matter how smart they are because the measurable outcome is, well, stupid.

I am starting to believe that's what this team is like. Regardless of the talent level, the measurable outcome isn't great...and it certainly doesn't match the talent level.

So then, I ask the question...How do you define talent? For me, talent is more than potential. It's the sum of all the parts that go into creating a measurable performance. With that definition, I'm not so sure this team is more talented than any other in the NFL.

You should know me well enough by now. 5+ years. I don't expect you to placate anyone. I don't blame you for being pissed, the Commanders piss me off week after week, even when they win.

"Pantie wastes" just fuels the fire. Same way I felt last week.

It's important for any fan.

If you want me to understand you, understand me. I don't want to hear about your win earlier this year. I don't want to hear about who was better that day. I don't want to hear about who will be better next time. This thread is anger towards my team. Not yours. I am not going to compliment them. I am not going to play nice. I am not going to change my opinions. If you want Hip hip hooray, this is not where you are going to find it.

Pantie wastes. No apologies attached. Nor will they be.

Talent is potential.

Execution is talent realized.

Championship is execution by an many players as possible.

They are not executing, so the talent is not being realized. There is time to turn that around, but it begins at this year, not next. Wade is the catalyst. If he cannot be, then he needs to be gone.

Ditto on promoting Bollinger if Romo can't go. He's certainly more mobile than BJ (who isn't?), has a stronger arm than BJ (who doesn't?), and he has won games in this league.

But 30 percent is 30 percent

Well, maybe everyone else is afraid to tangle with you today but I ain't a-scared of you. :nervous:

My idol, growing up, Joe Pepitone, could throw, run, hit with power, field (not only first base but centerfield)...he was supposed to be the next Joe Dimaggio. Uh, he wasn't. Why? Because he had aspects of his make up that didn't allow him to perform in a measurably effective manner. Namely, focus, desire, determination, maturity....

Talent is more than physical skills. Part of talent is the determination to succeed.

To quote the great philosopher, Forrest Gump "Stupid is as stupid does"

I'm sticking with Jerry being the problem and the team and coaching staff being a reflection of him.

Hell no you aren't scared. You've got Irv and revolving doors in your favor. I just have my own dumb luck.

I just think anger at Jerry is misplaced. We have drafted well. A sign of good management. We have sgned Free Agents who can help this team. A sign of good management. We are not in cap trouble. A sign of good management.

We have too many penalties. A sign of poor coaching. We are playing too soft. A sign of poor coaching. We re not executing well. A sign of poor coaching.

Wade is resting on his 13-3 laurels and thinking the team will do what he leaves undone.
