As always, we have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to political content and comments as well as pseudo-political and indirect political comments and references.

This includes quotes, tweets, etc. made by Dallas Cowboys players, coaches, front office personnel, etc.

Violating this rule usually results in an automatic 3-7 day suspension or longer for members who have a history of violating this policy!

Please do yourself and everyone else a favor and leave the nastiness that accompanies and encompasses politics to the rest of the internet!

This includes walk about Covid and Woke or not woke subjects.

What I'm seeing on spotrac if he's traded or released he has 99mil in dead money lol. How do you trade that?
Rodgers is due a 58.3M bonus between March 17 and Week 1. That bonus is guaranteed, but if the Jets trade for him, they would be responsible for that bonus, not the Packers. Rodgers is also due a $50,000 workout bonus, and a base salary of $1,165,000 for a total compensation this year of $59,515,000.

  • The Packers would be on the hook for a Dead Cap hit of $40,313,568, if he's traded or retires, and a dead Cap Hit of $99,778,568 if they cut him.
  • The Jets would pay Rodgers the $59,515,000 he's already owed this year - fully guaranteed. But they would only have a cap hit of the prorated portion of the Option Bonus ($14,575,000), the salary ($1,165,000) and the workout bonus ($50,000) for a total cap hit of $15,790,000 in 2023. The remaining portion of the Option Bonus ($14,575,000 x 3 = $43,725,000) will roll to future years. If Rodgers quits after 2023, the Jets would take the cap hit for the future years in either 2024, or split between 2024 & 2025.
  • If the Jets keep Rodgers in 2024, he's due another Option Bonus of $47,000,000, which will be guaranteed on the 5th day of the waiver period if the Jets keep Rodgers.
Essentially, the Jets are taking a $59.515M flyer on Rodgers for 2023. If they keep him after that, they are on the hook for at least another $47M, plus his salaries and workout bonues, which total another $28,250,000. If Rodgers plays out the contract through 2026, his annual cash and cap hits look like this:
  • 2023 - Cash to Rodgers from Jets $59,515,000 - GB Cap Hit ($40,313,568 for past bonuses) - Jets Cap Hit - $(15,790,000)
  • 2024 - Cash to Rodgers $49,300,000 - Jets Cap Hit ($32,541,667)
  • 2025 - Cash to Rodgers $20,900,000 - Jets Cap Hit ($51,141,667)
  • 2026 - Cash to Rodgers $15,050,000 - Jets Cap hit ($45,291,666)
The Jets will pay out $144,765,000 over the next 4 seasons for Rodgers, just a little over $36M per season on average. It's a good deal if Rodgers plays for 4 years. But Rodgers will collect $108,815,000 over the next two seasons. If he retires after 2024, the Jets will have paid him that, but only taken a Cap hit of $48,331,667. The Jets will have a Dead Cap hit of $60,483,333 in 2025 if Rodgers bails on them after collecting the majority of his money.

Not saying that 4000 yard season got him into the Hall of Fame because it didn’t. Just pointing out that he was the first to do it and the last Jets QB to pass for 4000 yards. The prediction and upsetting the Colts in the third Super Bowl is what got him in the Hall of Fame.
Yes I understand that. I was just commenting and agreeing about his 4000 yard season.

I mean he typed it in bold letters no way to miss it. look up
I bet you're fun at parties.

It was posted exactly two minutes before I was in the middle of finishing a long post. And I deleted it afterwards.

Lighten up, Francis.

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/N/NamaJo00.htm

that was his only year he did it. Had 2 seasons with 3300 and 3100 yards. And one with 2800. All other years were much less.
He got into the HOF by his prediction and being a celebrity QB. In todays NFL he would not be a 1st ballot inductee if at all.
Namath is in the Hall of Fame because he is largely responsible for the merging of the AFL and NFL. After the Jets won, the NFL could no longer claim the AFL was an inferior league. For that reason alone, and regardless of his statistics, Joe Namath belongs in the Hall of Fame.

The AFL NFL merger was in place and was discussed before that SB win.

I hope for the Jets' sake they aren't giving up too much for a guy who could change his mind and retire to live in the woods and smoke DMT at any second.

Actually reading about it Tex was the one who started reaching out about a merger with the AFL to Hunt...pretty interesting read. Joe Namath's Jets win helped it move along smoother but yeah it was already going to happen.

Holy crap, I didn't know he threw for 4000 yards in 1967. Then again, it was against all AFL teams.
At the end of the day, Joe Namath was really a bad QB. Shows what happens when you win won superbowl and become famous for it.

Hey, the singer Grimes did one of those darkness retreats then put out her breakthrough album, dated Elon Musk, and then had a baby named X Æ A-12. Maybe Rogers will take the same path.

Brett Favre went to the Jets after the Packers too. Followed by two years on the Vikings.

Sounds like something he might do but every girlfriend he’s had has dumped him.
