Can’t believe Aaron Rodgers wants to play for the Jets. Must be the only choice he has if he wants to keep playing. Talk about a graveyard for QBs. Here’s a crazy stat, the Jets haven’t had a 4000 yard passer since Joe Namath in 1967.
Yah but they have a very good roster now. They would be instant contenders.

He would be miserable with the Jets. They’re still going to be bad even with him. I’m surprised Miami hasn’t made a play for him. With the talent talent they have at WR Rodgers would be lethal. Tua could be done in another year with all the concussions he’s been suffering. No way can they depend on him playing a full season. One more bad concussion, and that could be it for him. If any team should go all in for Aaron Rodgers it’s Miami.
Miami gave up a bunch of draft picks for Hill including their 4th and 6th this year. They also got stripped of their 1st round pick this year for tampering. So not sure how much trade ammunition they have or can afford to part with.

??? What are you talking about? Reigning offensive rookie of the year. Plus Elijah Moore.

Besides, they have a really good D and a stable of running backs. They just need to improve the O line.
Yeah, you can tell a lot of members on here watch nothing outside of Cowboys games and local sportscasting.

Elijah Moore has put up less than 1000 yards the last two seasons. Garrett Wilson had 1100 yards and 4 TDs. Certainly not a bad rookie season, but a long way from being an elite receiver.

Miami certainly doesn’t have much ammo but I believe Rodgers would have to agree to a trade. They could work out something with future picks but from everything I’ve heard, they seem pretty content with sticking with Tua.

The jets have a really good team outside of QB. This would be a great move for them imo.

The Jets aren’t that close. They were in the basement of the AFC East. Even with Rodgers they’re going to have a tough time getting past Miami and Buffalo. The Jets have nothing at WR to help Rodgers.
Wow you didn't watch any Jet games this year did you?

I saw parts of their games on red zone and they finished 7-10. None who cover the NFL seem to think they’re better than a third place team in the AFC East even with Rodgers.

Saleh has got that defense on track, and the offense has pieces. They really are a QB away from making noise.

that was his only year he did it. Had 2 seasons with 3300 and 3100 yards. And one with 2800. All other years were much less.
He got into the HOF by his prediction and being a celebrity QB. In todays NFL he would not be a 1st ballot inductee if at all.
Why do people tend to believe that All these Great QBs would have the same exact stats playing in this Day and Age . . . It is truly Mind Boggling

No one said they would.
But it is the only thing to compare.

if any QB would have those stats now, they would not be considered HOF caliber. Unless they won multiple SB’s. Then the odds increase.

Not saying he does not belong, but the criteria at that time said he should be in.

Rodgers is due a 58.3M bonus between March 17 and Week 1. That bonus is guaranteed, but if the Jets trade for him, they would be responsible for that bonus, not the Packers. Rodgers is also due a $50,000 workout bonus, and a base salary of $1,165,000 for a total compensation this year of $59,515,000.

  • The Packers would be on the hook for a Dead Cap hit of $40,313,568, if he's traded or retires, and a dead Cap Hit of $99,778,568 if they cut him.
  • The Jets would pay Rodgers the $59,515,000 he's already owed this year - fully guaranteed. But they would only have a cap hit of the prorated portion of the Option Bonus ($14,575,000), the salary ($1,165,000) and the workout bonus ($50,000) for a total cap hit of $15,790,000 in 2023. The remaining portion of the Option Bonus ($14,575,000 x 3 = $43,725,000) will roll to future years. If Rodgers quits after 2023, the Jets would take the cap hit for the future years in either 2024, or split between 2024 & 2025.
  • If the Jets keep Rodgers in 2024, he's due another Option Bonus of $47,000,000, which will be guaranteed on the 5th day of the waiver period if the Jets keep Rodgers.
Essentially, the Jets are taking a $59.515M flyer on Rodgers for 2023. If they keep him after that, they are on the hook for at least another $47M, plus his salaries and workout bonues, which total another $28,250,000. If Rodgers plays out the contract through 2026, his annual cash and cap hits look like this:
  • 2023 - Cash to Rodgers from Jets $59,515,000 - GB Cap Hit ($40,313,568 for past bonuses) - Jets Cap Hit - $(15,790,000)
  • 2024 - Cash to Rodgers $49,300,000 - Jets Cap Hit ($32,541,667)
  • 2025 - Cash to Rodgers $20,900,000 - Jets Cap Hit ($51,141,667)
  • 2026 - Cash to Rodgers $15,050,000 - Jets Cap hit ($45,291,666)
The Jets will pay out $144,765,000 over the next 4 seasons for Rodgers, just a little over $36M per season on average. It's a good deal if Rodgers plays for 4 years. But Rodgers will collect $108,815,000 over the next two seasons. If he retires after 2024, the Jets will have paid him that, but only taken a Cap hit of $48,331,667. The Jets will have a Dead Cap hit of $60,483,333 in 2025 if Rodgers bails on them after collecting the majority of his money.
Yeah I ended up reading bout that roster bonus after. He has 2 other 30 mil options too in 2024 and 2025 too I think

Which means you can not compare them then
